  1. Segment 2 broze 30 - sieong 7 Sorry I probably won't have time to play the final segment this weekend as I have an irl bridge tournament.
  2. Set 3: broze 30 - phil 16 Set 4: broze 53 - phil 14 Thanks for the game phil. I'd say I was pretty lucky overall particularly board 11 on that last set where my misclick of 3D resulted in 3Hx= (I meant to bid 3C). Board 8 on the other hand was a psyche.
  3. I've sent one challenge to phil for the next round but won't be able to play another before Sunday
  4. QF broze v hanoi5 Set 2: 53 - 23 Set 3: 28 - 14 Set 4: 19 - 35 broze overall. Thanks for the game
  5. 3rd set: broze 25 - toast1 9 4th set: broze 63 - toast1 15 Thanks for the game! I've sent the first set challenge to hanoi5. Hopefully he can accept and I will be able to play that one today to catch up
  6. Hi I've accepted toast's new challenge and can finish the boards tomorrow eve. Thanks
  7. R16 broze vs toast1 Set 1: broze 19 - toast1 1 Set 2: broze 42 - toast1 28
  8. What does "6+♣" followed by "3 card ♣" mean? It's at best redundant and confusing.
  9. Not bad but I think it is better to simply play transfers when they overcall 1S. Works vey well and is not really very memory heavy.
  10. R32 broze v jexa_ 1: 22 - 29 2: 26 - 13 3: 41 - 10 4: 12 - 10 Overall broze by 39 IMPs. Thanks for the game.
  11. This is a notoriously tricky auction and is a great spot for transfers in competition. i.e. 1C (1S) 2D* = inv+, 5H+ Otherwise I think standard is probably as below (but would welcome others' thoughts). An important point is that 18-19 bal with 2H will often want to rebid 2S to check if p has 6H planniing on rebidding 3N if he does not. SO: - A 3NT rebid is an immediate shutout with no interest in hearts. Usually a singleton or a hand v suited to NT. - 3C rebid is non-forcing - 2S rebid GF. If followed up by 3N over 3red (or 3C over 2N) it shows a strong hand with a good club suit. Therefore looking at the hands in more detail (good selection btw). 1. Rebid 3N but might be ugly. 2. This was an upgrade to 1N. If you don't like to upgrade then rebid 2N (and stop bean-counting) 3. 2S then 3N over 3H 4. Close but I would rebid 3C. Might bid 3N at IMPs. 5. 3N immediately since the hand is so NT oriented.
  12. Is it possible that the seats have switched to allow Timo to become declarer? Because the pass of 4D by North is certainly lol-worthy Maybe this is his "control" post to avoid confirmation bias ;)
  13. R64 Set 3: broze 54 - zzzzisaac 12 Set 4: broze 34 - zzzzisaac 44
  14. broze vs zzzzisaac Set 1: 48 - 37 to broze Set 2: 55 - 7 to broze
  15. Thanks sfi for spelling it out. Yes that's exactly my point. And I have no idea how spotlight got from what I said to suggesting that I would open 1H with 5-5 Majors....
  16. I disagree and stand by my comment. Would you rebid 2H with x JTxxxx AKQx Kx? II think that is losing bridge personally.
  17. This is a popular approach but flawed in my opinion. I will almost always rebid the minor unless I have a great quality diparity between the suits. It is glib but it is better to show 9 cards with 2 bids than 6 cards.
  18. Really hate the methods but constrained by those I blame South. He bid his three-suiter as a two-suiter and the partnership missed their fit. Go figure.
  19. Thanks Frank. I'm in.
  20. Final set: nullve 9.5 - broze 6.5 13 pushes in that last one! Thanks for the match nullve. You played v well and I played pretty bad.
  21. Done. But mods can we fix this - it's really dumb. There should be a way to cancel the challenge if both players want to.
  22. I agree that once you play the King and see an honour drop you should play RC notwithstanding the singleton spade. However, the initial play of the Ace is indicated to to pick up a singleton honour in the other hand.
  23. Typo fixed thanks. Agreed that the match easily could have gone the other way. Was close throughout. The trump suit in the 4S was QJ9 opposite K8xxx so my play of the queen did not give up any legitimate chances given that I would never pick Txxx with LHO. There was however a 3D I butchered that you kindly did not mention. I think the slam hand you might get right as you played for RHO to have a singleton in both majors. I considered that unlikely hence the play of the Ace.
