Well the point of this forum is that those who program the robots take notice and do change GIB's behaviour! I can believe that this isssue has been reorted before though.

These two links demonstrate that there is something badly wrong woth GIB's responses to a double followed by a new suit. Table 1 Table 2

I suggest we move straight on to registration for the next tournament in light of the virus! Lots more free time for everyone now! -
I don't really think this attitude helps discussions honestly.

It's also not as simple as "the EU wants our fish", although of course this is the line taken by the pro-Brexit papers. It's a two-way thing. The UK wants something from the EU as well which is the right to sell British fish in Europe - this is why it's called a negotiation. If Britain didn't want to negotiate on these matters, we should never have left. Look, Brexiteers have won. Remainers lost. Enjoy your moment! But DON'T complain when the EU are simply trying to protect their interests. Honestly, what did you think was going to happen?
-
"Entitled"?? Cyber it's called a negotiation. I doubt you would ever call the UK "entitled" whatever their negotiating position was. It goes back to the fact that if you leave a club they are not going to allow you to have a more favourable relationship than if you were a member. Please examine critically what you are saying. Whatever your view on Brexit, the fact that the EU is striking a tough negotiating position does not show that "we're better off out". This smacks of confirmation bias. It shows that they are looking after their own interests and we are no longer included in that for better or for worse.

You might as well say, "how else will you get to keycard in diamonds"

Ignooring undertricks and assuming West has led from a 4+ card suit: Q is better W has ... 1a) AKxx and HK 1b) AKxxx and no HK T is better W has... 2a) AJxxx and HK 2b) KJxxx and HK 2c) AJxx, HK and East fails to find a H switch 2d) KJxx, HK and East fails to find a H switch 2e) Jxxx, HK and East fails to find a H switch Everything else is break even as far as I can tell. Yeah pretty close but imo case (1b) is pretty large and cases 2c-2e are negligible so I think the Q is the correct play. Ten probably correct against bad opponents.

I agree that without discussion it is RKCB

Double seems clear to me. In most of my pships this is defined as values but p is expected to bid if he has a singleton heart or other clear course of action. He will usually pull with 4S. If p had doubled instead of bidding 2D I would probably still double expecting p to bid a four card spade suit unless very defensively oriented.
-
Yep, sorry need more info as 6♠ bid leaves loads of negative inferences. If it is a pickup partner with no good agreements, I pass as you are not getting good IMP odds.
-
The rule is a joke and imo anyone exploiting it (especially on this hand) should be ashamed. Clearly this is not in the spirit of the game. If I were a director I would rule in EW's favour on the following basis: the rule is that "Partnerships who agree that an artificial opening (such as 2♣) may be made with a hand with a lot of playing strength but limited high cards must disclose this clearly" but clearly that is not the case here because no-one makes agreements about how to deal with 8500 hands. Result stands.

Can't stand the results viewer in the new version. And also can someone tell me how to kib the table where someone else is kibbing?

Is there an expert consensus/standard on forcing advances?
broze replied to Jinksy's topic in Natural Bidding Discussion
I think the "standard" in the UK is forcing at all levels with the exception of competition for 2/2 - e.g. (1H) 2C (2H) 2S. I believe expert standard here would be NF. -
