;) I lose count of number I see on this current "scare" I hope fleas of all computers infest by people who make and release such things infest them. and then bite them very much tee hee
-
;) And maybe this annoy message also include do you know where you partner is? I agree with Brroberto and Rain... Rude is rude. And signing up for tournament is no excuse to do rude. I like idea of warning very much... maybe display at table vs private so it is clear this person is leaving. Tee hee do you think "This is last board for <player name> since Tournament Xyz is starting in 5 min" is to explicit? I notice we run some % of off line players... so if you tournament is full let us say 200 pairs and tournament start and you 94 tables! Is it possible to maybe do underlying back up list of 5-10%? this way if players is missing then program go to back up list to fill up to tournament limit. Maybe give players option to do stand by of x% if tournament is full?
-
;) Yes this non responding sub thing is annoying... My solution is to type names in and sub this people to remove them from list when they refuse 2-3 times for all manner of nice partners it is necessary to clear deadwood tee hee on topic of players subbing... Tonight I play in BBO Flight and I notice no kibitzers is allow so I ask why. Very astute Bambi notice players is maybe able to sub in kibitzers to play. This create large potential problem. So will program allow players to sub people who is kibitzing tournament into table? At present it will allow td to do this. l
-
;) Great idea Marc, 1 question... in what tournaments is this appropriate? Do all tournaments require same level of alerting? Do we expect same level of playing in TopFlight as we do in Fun Fishy? I think what I trying to say is people play in tournaments for different reasons. While many people like proclaim they experts or world class players bottom line is majority of players in BBO is mere mortals. So do we ask people who come for little friendly competition to learn x number pages of correct alerts? I think high level competition is very fine thing and I adore opportunity to learn all x number pages. However I am seeking to learn and improve my knowledge base but this is maybe not goal of all players....
-
;) Great idea Omerjo! And yes please! While we do not need this Calling all tds thing very often it is far superior to scroll through many lines trying to find other co-directors or joining tables so I may locate fellow co-directors... maybe add little list box so we can easily click names?

Dreaded Cheating Accusations
Gweny replied to bglover's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
:D I host online tournaments for 3 years now. In this time I suspect certain people of cheating but only 3 times, prior to coming to BBO do I find positive proof... in form of misdirect ims... Do cheating exist. Certainly. Is it rampant? I think no in BBO. I do not agree time events increase instances of cheat for BIDDING, but it do introduce other form of cheating - delay of game to avoid bad results. Personally I find this even more disgusting than relaying info to partner prior to, or during bidding or play. And I do block people who I see doing this if and only if I certain it is not connection problem. ;) I mourn you leaving ranks of yellow Booze. You fine person and very fine, caring, helpful yellow. I do not remember 1 time you do not take time to help me when I ask. <even slightly silly questions> It is definately our loss. I hope you reconsider at some future date. Do not let cheaters steal you from us please. I do agree we need do vigilant PRIVATE investigation and at same time spank people who cry Cheat! any time opp make difficult contract. -
:( YES PLEASE GIVE US PENALTY ADJUSTMENT. I, like others, do not think much of this average + thing for much of our prblems. Consider chronic slow players. (why they continue to enter time events of 7/8 min per board is total mystery to me) PairA play round 1 and do not play board 2 so they see ave= . This is disgusting. They at fault (assuming no connection problem) and poor PairB is at mercy of PairA. I imagine many times when maybe this second board hold potential for top board but due to not playing 2nd board all they see is Ave=. However... if we ability to assess penalty, (like suggest but rule violation Gerardo mention) this maybe "encourage" chronic slow players to play/bid promptly. AND this give TD other tool to use when making adjustments. And it continue for entire tournament... PairA is now playing PairC and again they time issues... This create extra work for td for this pair is chronic slow, ( and normally very vocal and wanting adjustment!) and what of poor PairC? they come to play nice brisk bridge and instead find painful 1-2 min deliberations on whether to play 2 of spades or 4 of spades tee hee... so Uday/Fred please we beg you... give us ability to assess penalty to this people without affecting entire tournament.
-
:( Ah ... indi tournaments... This is cool format if you look at this as learning experience. What better test exist to see how good you adapt to other people playing/bidding styles? tee hee yes you are correct - ask what you play first rather than assume who card is in play :-)

:D Yes please to macro or ability to COPY it is much work if you hit send/chat at wrong time and you need retype things like who win tournament. Yes please clock for lobby of tournament. Potential problem with this request is not all sections is maybe same time remaining in round. however I think we all very happy if it only show lowest time remaining... On topic of director call... please maybe you find way to limit number of director calls per table within certain time frame? Today when system is experiencing problems it is impossible to do anything with all multiple calls certain rude people make. even better if person do x number of calls they is boot tee hee (in very short time frame) people do not seem to grasp if they continue to do this we no ability to do work On topic of adjustment we need help. people do NOT remember what direction they sit and forget it for what table they play at. Maybe if director may see my hands prior to end of tournament? I think point frosty is making if player is force to fill out form then td may quickly make adjustment vs 10 min back and forth with player trying to extract info we need vs LARGE amounts of extra things we no need for. typically conversation go like this. P: "I need adjustment " TD: ok what board, what contract, etc P: they down P: we set P: we make P: we +100 this list is endless and this is if player speak english! If we some graphic form then language barriers is overcome. then instead of call to table maybe td see "request for adjustment" and player do this vs td spending long time extracting info from player. :D Thanks for all you hard work!

;) Wonderful job Uday! On topic of lock.... Yellows encourage TDs to mark troublemakers as enemies. Embarass? no but is my tournament restrict to 99.99999999% of BBO players? no it is not. People who is mark enemy (on my list) earn this distinction by doing naughty things in tournament. For me it is constantly changing very small list. I do not host tournaments to grow enemy list but this is sole "schooling" device open to TDs to encourage behavior change in naughty players. Maybe we need R when entry is restrict like for private club (one color,) nationality, (other color) Bidding system (other color) Then MAYBE people see at glance they maybe not allow to play. I very annoy with harassment of Booze last weekend - this hardworking member of BBO Staff do not deserve comments I see for hosting tournament for countrymen. Lock thing is nice BUT from looking at list it appear majority of tournaments is restrict and large numbers of these locks is due to non-enemy thing. I agree with other posts - no enemies do not deserve lock thing. tee hee it is little bit scary to go to tournament page and see all this lock... if it is simple color thing (option in create tournament) and R is color of private club, nationality, or bidding system then people maybe see at glance what is open.

Not playing "no adjustments" anymore
Gweny replied to anssibragge's topic in BBO Tournaments Discussion
;) Oh YES PLEASE. tee hee maybe we need "Yes I read description" thing. Tonight one player yell at me for "dismissing him with out warning and with out his permission." I say to him - do you read description? (I think no!) On topic of time events- yes it is very annoying to find people who no intention of playing 7 min or 8 min boards signing up for time events. People they play suffer and if it is large tournament maybe director(s) busy subbing people do not find time to make adjustments. On topic of intentional slow play to avoid bad results - YES PLEASE THINK OF penalty where we ability to penalize naughty people without skewing results of entire tournament! This slow playing to avoid bad results is very annoying form of CHEATING. I think it is very disgusting and very sad. My simple solution for this in last round is extend time. But this is not fair for all people is waiting to see results. (maybe we need Table of Shame award?) Gweny -
;) I adore new beta! Uday my compliments! I to wish we see sitout vs discard odd pair. I hate see people who sign up and then do not get to play. Maybe uday give us back sitout? (hint hint) New subbing thing is WONDERFUL :-) And more good things is coming tee hee Survivor is very nice and allow us to free up subs and other pairs to play in new events. Yes it is little bit hard on new people /beginners but I think when they DO make cut it is very gratifing

I AM SICK OF GETTING SUCKED INTO TOURNEYS
Gweny replied to bglover's topic in BBO Tournaments Discussion
:o Yes it is annoying. Last week (jan) i suck into team matches 2 times and tournament 1 time. One is maybe language problem. person ask me to play and i say "i wish" for i in middle of hosting 9pm tournaemnt tee hee. needless to say i little bit annoy to find me in tournaent! I do compliment our dear BBO Staff for taking swift action when this things happen XOXOXOX I to wish maybe little bit of screening happen for tds. -
:o YES PLEASE WHAT WONDERFUL IDEA Much times I trying to help people pair up but scrolling through lobby list is painful and require i leave tournament area. tee hee then i need remember how to spell name. if other click to chat is available then i ok to say "ask <username>" vs sit in frustration and watch perfect pairs no play
-
:o Kibitizers in tables in good. else how we learn. kibitzers talking in tables in tournaemnts is not good. they say things like "claim" o describe hand - often is mistake but it do taint results then what do we do?
-
:o Sorry Dwayne I do not agree. While certain boards do take long time to do others is no need to spend 5 min bidding. And if you do not like 7 min per board (my favorite) tee hee then you free to play in unclock nightmares. I watch dear Trtttttt host unclock one night and i ask him when he finish so i adjust fun fishy to start after he finish and he say "1 round" ok so i adjust fishy and fishy start and FINISH and he is STILL directing this unclock thing. This is ridiculous! Bridge is fun and thoughtful consideration of bdding and playing is fun but at what point do it go to painful and silly? is it reasonable to enter tournament and expect to finish in 15 min per board? i think no. in fact i think 10 min is reasonable for unclock.
-
;) I adore this new format I see MANY upsides to this. Namely if you in tournament and you/you partner is not doing good then you is excuse vs force to endure horrid rounds of torture. Many good points to this format like... players is free to go play in other event, players is free to go sub tds is under less pressure and is able to administer tournament better number of intentional boots go to zero in later rounds for all who remain is in competition. While some maybe do not like this format I think it is very fun and approach "knock out" format (50% per round starting in round 1) Variety is good (i think) and this new tool is growing in populaitiy i think
-
Tee hee... yes and I do warn you 4 min is maybe big problem. We do 5 min per board for speedballs in total points and this is not much problem but when i try this is bbo side tournaments it is total disaster. Why? For players is LAZY and do NOT READ tournament description. Why person with bad conneciton and no intention of playing promptly enter events like this i no idea but it is little bit frustrating.
-
;) :-) If this help please use it www.bbototalpoints.bravepages.com/TD101/ This is short presentation design to help people navigate BBO TD interface. On topic of adjustments. I feel you pain KJ but I ask is this tournament you play in Survivor movement? You sure td "kick you out" or is this part of normal tournament elimination. Please do READ description of tournament. (And TDs please LIST this in description!) Please DO give TD Board number, CORRECT CONTRACT, and direction of declarer. All of this info is available in movie YOU see but unfortunately it is NOT readily available to TD if you not in same table. With this Swiss type ranking of tables TD maybe no way to see movie if you do not say who is opp or what table you play in in round in question. No td like problems. We all wish we perfect knowledge of each board and ability to adjucate without error. :-( but with only 14-16 min per round <normally> we maybe no ability to help you when you say things like... "please adjust last board we win 110 points." This is of absolutely NO USE to td. we need contract - if you set 3nt by one trick then tell td what they need. ie "in board 6 we set 3nt by 1 trick in table 12." then td is ok to go look at movie and decide. Further if you preparing to run out of time do not wait to under 1 min to tell td! It is better to let you finish round vs try unravel what you may o may not do with particular board. :-) Gweny

How to request a partner for tournment play
Gweny replied to inquiry's topic in General BBO Discussion
:)No. 1 thing I enjoy at BBO is nice people. So if I want to partner I ask first. What annoy me is people who do not answer - for I feel compel to wait to ask different person until first person accept/reject. tee hee I no see problem with say "no thanks" when i do not want to play but is this not common courtsey? -
???I like very much suggestions please on appropriate penalty for people who do not accept valid claims o allow time to run out so they avoid bad result. I consider option of additional down 1 o plus 1 to benefit opps but this directly impact other players in tournament. Suggestions?
-
8) Maybe you consider give us Tournament report thing? This way we give you feedback on people who intensionally disconnect o leave tournament in progress - with or without notice
