  1. :) Today, in effort to do close examination I do experimental tournament in Total Points format - I end up with 53 tables. I announce this is time event (7 min per board) and yes Rain, Gerardo, this time i do not play tee hee. This what I see. Majority of call for director is calls for subs. And this bring up interesting point. Part of challenge in all tournaments we host is seeing all tables at glance. Current view allow us to see 5 tables when in table and necessiate much scrolling. (my mouse is weary tee hee) Yes you see additional tables if in lobby of tournament but high number tables require scrolling.... 8)Maybe it is possible to give host/td some type "thumbnail" view to see all tables? In this view maybe table number turn red if one person at table boot. This maybe save time and number of director calls. Ideally when td click on "red table" this show all 4 players and what player is red. Other problem is sub list... I play in much of tournaments I host so I use sub list exclusively to today when I td and no playing. :-Apparently this list is generic for all tournaments - if a person sign up to sub all active tds see same list .... needless to say this annoy certain people who think if they sign up in tournament xyz then they subbing for tournament xyz so little bit annoy when they find they sitting in tournament abc.... [glow=red,2,300]Director button. [/glow] Maybe it is possible to LIMIT the number of times a player push this with in certain time frame? O in extreme cases disconnect annoying person who continue push this button? .... ie player push button 3 -4 times and td come and resolve issue and 5 min pass and same player push button 3-4 times and td ask please push 1 time - additional pushing slow process vs help me come here fast...and then player continue do this multiple pusing of director button .... i lose patience with one player today and at 10th time he do multiple pushing i replace him. to me, this is player clearly abusing this button. ::)So maybe multiple pushings do not generate additional/multiple director calls? tee hee maybe pepper pushing abusing persons screen with please hold you already call director? tee hee [glow=red,2,300]Director Calls II[/glow] Part of problem with this messages is you require to say/yes no o you no ability to do other work - ie child window pull mouse from current activity to yes/no of new director call. ;)Maybe it is possible to make this calls into list? this way we see what tables we need visit vs try remember what table you cancel in attempt to chat to current table o do subbing. Hosting tournaments is very fun but people who is chronic complaining remove much joy from this. And flood of director calls is no much fun for how do you attend to 6 people all same time? Maybe we need "table" director call button vs 4 people at table director call button. this way 1 call from table vs multiple calls from same table for same problem (need sub) Maybe give us "need sub" button in addition to call director button? this way td see immediately what is problem. (See thumb nail view idea tee hee) [glow=red,2,300]Adjustments[/glow] Sigh... in clock tournament majority of adjustments involve people who is slow o no accepting claim at end of round. maybe to help director you consider Request for Claim thing where player is force to say what board, what directions and what contract. this to maybe help reduce time to do adjustment. tee hee players say things like... "we set opps on board 4 and they play slow and now we blah blah blah when all td need is contract, direction, board.... then td look at movie to see if this is valid request... oppps.... we no ability to see movie of boards to time tournament is finish! hmmmm Uday what is solution to this problem? For if we must look at movie prior to doing adjustmetns then what is problem for no host tournaments if TD do substitutions in timely fashion? tee hee :) Food for thought :-) :D
  2. Wow what nice idea! I like this very much for if kibitzers is communicating to players at least they remove from bidding. Is this possible uday? That would only work if you didn't get to see any hand(s) until after the auction was over. For example, if you were watching West and South became declarer, then you would already know West's hand. You did get me thinking though. What would be nice is a short-cut to indicate which player you want to kibitz. So rather than having to go into one's User Profile and set it by direction (N, E, S, or W), it would be nice to (for example) right click on a player and have the choice of kibitzing that player show up in the status popup. Maybe I'll suggest this to Uday Oh yes, I like to kibitz a lot as well.
  3. You Rock! 1 question - Is people who is ban aware WHY they ban? (else maybe little bit hard to correct inproper behavior)
  4. Ok Tonight certain player make me very mad. This is third time this player disconnect self from tournament and partner do same. This is very rude. They warn opps they do this but to replace people is time consuming task and ruin tournament for others. I do send report this time and while marking this people enemy do prevent me and people in tours i host from rude person what of other unsuspecting hosts/tds? Do rude people deserve 3 trys at other TDs in addition to 3 times he do this to people in my tournaments? hmmm.... Maybe no? Gweny
  5. B) Hi friends, This weekend is first Bridge Olympics for Total Points club in BBO. (though this is 3rd year of Bridge Olympics.) Purpose of this events is to play nice fun tournaments with friends with friendly competition for medals and national glory <tee hee> Several teams need additional players - to join teams please visit www.bridgebase.com/totalpoints :)
  6. 8) I hate to mention P word (tee hee pogo) but it look like EA/Yahoo handle this problem by creating lobby and other "rooms" so user do not need ALL other player info at login... query is available so you maybe "see' people you look for and "friend" list is separate page so you may locate friends... Maybe is time to consider Main bridge club 1 and 2? then maybe login data is reduce by 2 if you come to lobby and you see who is IN lobby vs all who is in BBO. Other consideration is people who log in and sit. They do not play they sit. If I go to sleep do I need remain log in to bbo? Maybe you close to time to consider disconnect due to inactivity? <and this maybe reduce login time thing> With growth come change... and I very happy for all BBO staff for growth of BBO but maybe is time to start think of way to limit this initial info exchange... if 250K chars now then when you grow to 4k average do this increase login time to 5-10 min? or worse maybe people see server busy try later message? People grow impatient at 17 SECONDS on hold... login is not same thing but analogy is same... what is acceptable wait and this data exchange do explain why people is 3-5 min to return but this also create/continue problem of what do we do in tournaments <clocked>? The strain on people in tournaments is replacement... if dial up connection ( and this is much of world no?) no way original player ability to return in timely fashion... therefore new person must enter. Tonight in fun fishy we use large numbers of replacements <sigh> and with no subs available this make natives restless. If we ability to replace original players back with partner this is very nice... preferably at round change o board change... this fit nicely with 3-5 min it take for player to return. Keep up good work - we all very sure this is No. 1 place to play bridge :-)
  7. :) Ditto QQ, Speedball is fun to play but when people who do not possess connection nor inclination to play/claim promptly join it is maybe very painful experience. I like very much 10 boards at 7 min per board... this allow short break at end of rounds tee hee... If playing 32 boards I refuse join if NOT CLOCKED - to play this much boards unclock - maybe very ugly.
  8. Sole complaint I hear is length of time to log on. This seem to vary depending on number of people in bbo (makes sense) but long delays is little bit annoying. And VERY annoying if boot in tournament or game and it maybe take 3-5 min to return. Part of this time lag is player maybe no idea they boot for sole indication you boot is chat do not work. I no suggestions for this - but you very smart and maybe you think of how to disconnect us fast so we return fast. I understand this long log in time is maybe isp issue vs bbo issue but 1-3 min initial log in time is not unusual. Sigh ... maybe one day we all dsl/cable tee hee.
  9. 8) Maybe very nice if director may chat suggestions to people who sign up in partnership desk...
  10. [shadow=red, left]very cool idea but.... 2 things come to mind... memory and viewers[/shadow] [glow=red,2,300]YES PLEASE! 8)[/glow] VERY MUCH YES PLEASE ;D Ugh to 2 windows... but if option to pick 1 or 2 windows then yes. YES PLEASE to cut/paste ability. Lack of this option make for VERY much work. Please consider make check box option for where to talk to. When in Total Points club I must go to chat window, select chat to club each time and this make assigning 20+ tables very time consuming.... ::) Same problem for non dockable chat window... and non resizeable table window. [glow=red,2,300]AMEN![/glow] smooch! :)
  11. Quick question - is method available to increase size of font for viewing? tee hee my eyes hurt from little print. :) Thanks for all you do for us all!
  12. :) I think point Mink is making is for people who do chronic misbehavior. In Total Points club we see maybe 4-5000 players per month and after close to 9 months of tournaments we notice certain people prone to rude behavior, and leaving tournaments, etc. Much of rude behavior go once we decide to announce "Zero Tolerance" for rude behavior. tee hee now only time people is prone to rudeness is full moon nights. :- I think Mink idea is good IF and ONLY if bbo staff is sole people to see this. Much time little/short quiet talk with offending person correct problems. I do confess I make note of reports of rudeness, slow play/intentional slow play, and intentional disconnection for future reference. Of this 3 type problems last 2 is troubling for variety of reasons. Slow play/intentional slow play in clocked event is disgusting form of cheating and require director to make adjustments. This is very annoying form of cheating. Intentional disconnection is extremely rude to all in tournament and in particular to poor people in same table. Doing replacements is little bit time consuming with certain names and 2 players in one table - sigh... This is where Minks idea maybe help us all. Using abuse@bbo do not sound like good idea for this type complaint.
  13. [glow=red,2,300]hmmm... I think this is little bit dangerous for what if replacement player is watching table in tournamemt? [/glow] :'(This give sub perfect knowledge of cards maybe. I no idea if other directors do this but I do not use replacement players who is watching tables. Same problem for this autoplacement - If computer ignores people who is kibitzing then this is very nice feature however this do remove td ability to sub - what is time period computer wait prior to subbing? if it is last board in match and clocked event 2-3 min delay is disaster. Please keep up good work Uday you do very nice things for us all! 8)
  14. 8) Uday you amaze us all On topic of add/delete register pairs I think this is nice feature but see great potential head aches for BBO staff for people complaining open tournaments is not open. On other side this would allow tds to remove pairs with chronic connection problems, history of intentional slow play, etc. on topic of permanent subs... in bbo tournament area all subs is permanent subs, however this is not sole option available. if we list people who is willing to do temp sub, a thing that is very very fun, then this allow players to return to partners vs thing who happen now - if player do not like sub then player AND sub disconnect and td now need find 2 subs. :-( other advantage to doing temp subs is person who is doing this learn very much new conventions and styles of play and this is very fun. if we ability to use temp subs, and temp sub list then original player may return to game vs kibitz and grumble for not finishing match with partner.
  15. ;D I host online tournaments for 3 years now and I think very big help if you familar with people who play in you tournaments on regular basis. Then when you need sub you good idea who is good fit... ie intermediate to intermediate, etc. While expert player is expert in bridge they maybe no good fit for inexperience player and yes "lessor" players do enjoy tournament. tee hee However,... :-( current sub list is little bit ackward and this do not allow td to see profile :-( sigh... and other threads mention problem of disappearing sub list - and what happen to chat if you do not close this window. (chat do not work on click - you must click "chat" to send. ;D Good director is shepard to flock of players - our job is entertainment to quote great wp host Elivis. Our players come to play and to ask players to find subs is no very good for nice smooth flow of tournament. our ability to substitute is very very nice THANKS UDAY!!!
