cant substantiate any of this, but it's very scary Anonymous @YourAnonNews Verified, & worst news I've heard so far: NYU hospital generator failed. Personnel manually evacuating PICU & NICU down 9 flights of stairs. if true, likely many lives will be lost.

maybe spoke too soon? reports NYC lost power http://instagram.com/p/RYv4ssQ0oZ/ and the village http://instagram.com/p/RYue5_koDz/

gl all and stay safe. i'm a little surprised at the number of people reporting they haven't lost power, so I'm remaining optimistic but understand there are plenty of real dangers ahead. hoping for the best for everyone here.

I figured this is ultimately what we'd choose to do. Lance asked to repay the $7.5m

The Amanda story is sad and she clearly didn't deserve how she was treated, but I think it's a lot more complicated than the media initially let on, and certainly there is more to it than what she claims in her video. Sources seem to suggest that there are a bunch of photos of her floating around, so this wasn't a single incident where she made a mistake that trainwrecked her life. Obviously she had some major problems, further exacerbated, allegedly, by drugs, alcohol, and irresponsible promiscuity. Anonymous allegedly already found the guy and leaked his info to the public. 30 year old guy in Canada. Steep price to pay to catch a pedophile, but Anonymous claims he had posted to pedophile websites and what not, so it would be good to get this monster behind bars.

Maybe to a certain extent the evidence was overwhelming; looking back it seems absolutely impossible that he could dominate the sport for as long as he did against competitors, whom we now know also doped, if he was clean. LA was the most tested athlete in the sport and never got caught, and there were only a few willing to testify against him until recently. While I think everyone knew he was doping, there was maybe still some element of uncertainty without any indisputable evidence. And obviously there will always be a (probably large) group of people who will always believe LA is innocent. The koolaid is strong sometimes. I have no idea what our legal team is up to regarding the recent developments, so I can't comment or offer any inside info about what SCA is planning to do. I did see our name in the paper though: LA could face perjury charges

It's a little sick how the USADA is approaching this and building up the hype before releasing the whole report. They're doing their best to get the media on their side and make Lance look as bad as possible, but this story doesn't need the added drama. Stop with the theatrics, USADA, just release the report and let us move on with life.

Bump Reading this thread sort makes me LOL about how dumb I once was (and likely still am). I've discovered I really enjoy New World wines vs the traditional French and Italian types (sry ch00), and I even got the opportunity to visit several vineyards in Chile this spring. Just received a case of Carmenere in the mail earlier today that I'll likely hold on to for a year or two before cracking open. At the risk of getting flamed, my favorite bottle of wine I've bought for myself is Show Stopper Durif from Australia. I don't think I'd like it as much as a standalone, but served with lots of GRILLED MEAT it was amazing.

right. oxford is the only source that seems to have an alternate definition, which suggests the definition has evolved recently. i'm not saying they're wrong, but they're wrong.
-
oxford's solution to any frequently misused word it seems. they forgot to tell anyone else they were changing the definition i suppose.

Electrocution is death caused by electric shock, either accidental or deliberate. It is a portmanteau of electric and execution. Stop using this word incorrectly. Thanks. Bonus pet peeve: people who post stupid ***** on facebook (so basically everyone).

I would expect partner to have hearts. I think playing NT systems on in this auction is fine. With that said partner needs to be sort of careful about the kinds of hands he bids 4D with, assuming we have agreed to play systems on. The 3NT bid can be made on, for example, a long running suit and a diamond stopper and an otherwise unbalanced hand, so with lots of hands with only 5 hearts or 6 bad hearts or whatever it's probably fine to play in NT rather than insist on playing in a suit contract.
