thoughts on 538's hubris of attempting to solve the GOAT argument in a single article?

Also it should be noted on that play that the other SEA WR is supposed to push Browner back into Butler creating the pick, but Browner holds firmly on the line to give Butler a clear path to jump the route. So any number of things could have gone wrong in the pats execution or gone right in the SEA execution and the outcome would be totally different. Can't blame Carroll imo.

SEA thought they were getting exactly the look they wanted to score on the pick play with NE putting 8 in the box to stop the run with 3 CBs on the 3 WRs. The problem as has already been said was that NE (particularly Butler) knew the exact play that was coming when they stacked the receivers. If SEA had thrown in any tiny wrinkle, Butler was selling out 100% to the pick route, so it would have been an easy pitch and catch. Some sports science guys were showing that when the WR planted his foot to cut inside on the slant, Butler was able to react in less than a 10th of a second or something ridiculous. And then on top of that, Butler made an amazingly athletic play to beat the WR to the ball and instinctively shield the ball with his body so that he could make a pretty difficult catch. When the ball leaves Russell's hands, if you watch the play, it looks like it's exactly what they wanted from the play. The break Butler makes on the ball though is unreal. To me, if this were an ATB problem, I've got like 10% on the play call and 90% on pats/butler preparation and execution. Maybe someone can dig up the actual percentages, but I'd guess the difference in win expectancy between pounding ML and throwing there is very small, except of course when NE knows beforehand what the play is going to be, which obv they didn't account for.

The previous two SBs cost us about $1.25 million from kickoff returns, but I think we ended up on top this year. Feels good.

If it's ever right to fire a coach after 4 seasons of 46-18 football with 4 division titles, I definitely applaud this move with firefox. Gotta win now. Bring in some hotshot college coach, let Peyton run the offense for one season, and see what happens.

  14. I'm pretty certain the onion is referencing a previous article/image that was hilarious and super offensive with this new article, and if so i think this new article is pretty hilariously offensive too if its purpose is to remind readers of their previous article. I won't link the previous article here for obvious reasons, but if you want to search for it the article is "No One Murdered Because Of This Image". It's very NSFW so search at your own risk.

Don't know much about the situation in Buffalo, but with an elite defense and this schedule next season Home: Giants, Cowboys, Colts, Bengals, Texans Away: Redskins, Eagles, Jags, Chiefs, Titans if my goal was to test the market, it seems like a decent investment to stay there, take the winning season, and leave after 2015. Maybe EJ shapes up and you have a shot at the playoffs.

Suh made $20 million this year. If you made $100,000 this year and were fined proportionately to Suh's $70,000, you'd owe $350. They gave Suh a speeding ticket for stomping on a QBs injured leg. The NFL is a complete joke.

As a Pats fan I'm pretty excited to dodge two Rex Ryan games each year. Firing Idzik seems like a no-brainer, but Rex is pretty clearly an elite coach and the Jets imo are clearly and unequivocally worse without him. I can only hope Rex and the Pats are in discussion for a D Coordinator position. Sort of an interesting article excerpt link: I think this Jets team will be a textbook example of a team that fires a coach and ends up with a replacement far, far worse.

I'm led to believe the appeal would be resolved by Wednesday, so yeah he should be done for the season
