  1. Smolen to show GF with 4M and 5 in the other major. Start with 2C Stayman and follow up with a jump in your shorter major if a fit is not found. You can show 4M and 5 other major while making the stronger hand declare.
  2. 1C-1H 8-11 is used in Meckwell Lite. Meckwell uses transfers such as 1C-1H shows spades.
  3. Are you allowed to use the Kaplan Inversion? Where 1H-1S acts like a forcing 1N and opener rebids 1N with 4S. You still can use 1H-1N* to show 5Ss. That would allow you 2D* as 18-19 and 2H as a weak Two bid.
  4. I played a lot of Roman Club at the Congressional Secretaries Bridge club in the late 70s or early 80s. I also played Roman Club as a change of pace(once in a while} over the last 50 years.
  5. Isn't it possible to go to the relaxed club and join a table there?
  6. Isn't it possible to go to the relaxed club and join a table there?
  7. Pass! It would be a reverse showing a strong hand and 4S and 5+ Ds.
  8. Kaplan opened 2C* with a minor holding 10+ winners using his KS system. Some players use 2C-2D-3M* to show 4M and a primary D suit.
  9. Kaplan opened 2C* with a minor holding 10+ winners using his KS system. Some players use 2C-2D-3M* to show 4M and a primary D suit.
  10. Kaplan Sheinwald bidders use 1m-1N as 5-8 With 9+ bid the other minor.
  11. This was much like the style of some Italian players in the 60s. Blue Team Club players overcalled @3-12HCP and doubled with 13+. Responder was not supposed to expect more than 2 cards support in any given suit after a double.
  12. Many people list their ACBL rank. Put Silver Life Master on your profile.
  13. Gazzilli on Bridge Winners has a number of concepts. One is 1S-1N*-2C*(clubs or strong) -2D*-2H* denies four clubs and also not strong NT values. I like to use 1M-2C* to show a 2/1 type GF or a limit raise. 2M making 2 at your table and 3M-1 at the other table is a fairly steady source of MPs or IMPs.
  14. Did you notice that 4N showed 20+HCP and 7NT promised 25+? This means that you overbid by 4+HCP for 4N and by 9+HCP for 7N. Bidding slams on HCP is often suggested as 33 for 6N and 37 for 7N. Your results would likely greatly improve if you allowed partner to 'limit' their values.
  15. OMF(Other Minor Forcing) is a common method after a 1NT rebid. 1D-1S-1N-2C*-2H showing 4Hs and denying 3 spades. Now a spade rebid is forcing and you can bid to slam. You really do not want to bid 7S with nine trumps missing the Queen.
  16. A large number of writers state that RKC should not be used holding a worthless side holding such as the doubleton D in East. East could cuebid 5C over 4S and after hearing a 5H cuebid should stop in 5Ss.
  17. Have you tried the relaxed club? It tends to have mostly new players and a more 'relaxed' game.
  18. You were lucky and stayed out of a non making five club game. A nice plus vs 2HXed. Partner should not have passed, however, sometimes bad decisions turn into a good result.
  19. Reese at one time played the Little Major. 1C=4+Hs, 1D=4+Ss, 1H=20+, 1S=minors or a one suited minor.
  20. Al Roth at one time played 1N-2D-2H-2S* as art. GF. He also played 1N-2H-2S*-2NT* as art. GF The low level GF allowed both players room to show their values. 1N-2D-2H-3m showed 5-5 inv. 1N-2H-2S-3m showed 5-5 inv.
  21. 4NT is a natural sign off when partner suggests slam in a minor and your hand does not offer slam chances. 1S-2H-3D-3N-4D-4NT
  22. Relax and try to enjoy. I suspect that there are two choices after a 1N overcall, "system on" is fairly common and the second line is likely another option for a player. Many beginners do not use transfers bids over 1N. Many advanced/expert players do not use transfers when they play a weak NT. Over a balancing 1NT, many use 2C* as a range asking bid(since 10-14 is a wide range) I use 2C* as stayman style with higher bids showing both the HCP range and major holdings. Some play 1C-2C as natural and 1C-2D* as Michaels. Standard meaning for an opening suit bid, an overcall and opener bidding 1N shows 18-20 if a 1N opening shows 15-17. If a 1N opening would be 16-18, a reopening 1N=19-21
  23. Alvin Roth, Picture Bidding book 1N-2H-2S*-3D* 5-5 inv. hand, 5D :)
  24. I have seen them both used with 4-4 shapes. Some books by well known players also show example with 5-4. I strongly prefer the 5-5 types.
  25. The Comedy Club is fairly close to your requirements. 1C* and a major rebid is either 15-17 or 22+(rebid with a jump) 1M is 11-14 or 18-21 1D is standard(I believe)
