  1. It Would Be Nice If -- Slow players were tracked, ie, keep a running average of the time they spend considering their bids and plays. Then when a tourney goes to the next round, you can match slow teams/partners players with fast players. This would make tourneys end faster. Instead of just keeping an overall average time, it would probably be best to keep the last 10 days of averages, and use a weighted total of the 10 as a measure, weighting older days less. tOM
  2. Some download accelerators like Orbit allow you to choose all the file links on a page (winnowed by *.LIN) and download them all with a single click. tOM
  3. Still doesn't solve the problem of using 2+ different acbl CCs for different tourneys, eg, Goulash, IMPs, MPs, ... How can you switch back and forth? (There is a player called "someone" who I use to save a CC and then restore it...) We need to be able to have several different cards we use with a P, and to choose between them for a tourney. tOM
  4. I agree - why no Claim vs Robots to save time?
  5. I would like a search function: - for system (ie, any text in profile) - for language - we need a language field in combination with - not in or registered for a tourney already - not an enemy tOM
  6. When a movement does not have enough players, 2/3+ people have to sit out each round - a high proportion for tiny tourneys. To avoid this many TDs set limits to their tourneys and then expand by 4s or 8s. managing it by hand as it fills. Why not have, for every tourney, a list of registrants who fill a movement, and a list applicants, who will be registered when there are enough of them, increasing the number of registrants, and starting a new empty list of applicants. Then no one would have a sitout, and applicants left when a tourney starts can choose a different tourney. tOM
  7. Suggestion1: require unique names for CCs, and prompt for "replace" if a CC of the same name exists - for all cards. Suggestion2: Distinguish in CC list between types of CCs by colour, eg, FD=blue, text box=green, acbl=yellow, ...
  8. There are three flavours of BBO CC: - Full Disclosure, with auto alerts, but painstaking to construct or view - BBO text boxes - ACBL card You can edit and save many versions of the ACBL or BBO text box CCs, just name them differently, then save. However, BBO and ACBL CCs are treated differently. - Change the BBO CC name, and a new CC is CREATED. The old CC remains. - Change the ACBL CC name, and the new CC is created and the previous CC is DELETED. The only way around that that I see is to save the new version for a "partner" (any valid BBO userid), then resave without a partner. Best to choose someone you never play with so you don't screw up your usual CC with p. Be sure to have different descriptive names for the cards, and winnow out duplicates. Some may ask why different CCs? Well, I often use a different CC for goulash, IMP, MP, team, or other games, all with the same P. Or perhaps try out new systems, but still want to keep old CC around to return to. Also, handy to have your favourite CCs tOM.
  9. Alas, no reply. Ideally, I would like to have a search "tab" (like Friends, Kibitizers, stars, ...) for current players which show the matches for an intelligent search which would allow you to enter search strings for all the profile fields: - user name - real name - country - skill level - Player's notes - your notes on player Regular expressions would be ideal, but even uncased substrings would be nice. tOM
  10. Currently the TD is kept busy making substitutions. Why not allow players, if their partner is red, to invite a friend to play with them. In support of this, it would be useful to know which friends are already in tournaments, and which not, eg, by colour of text or background.
  11. Currently displaying tourneys and then going back to the list means sweeping back and forth. Why not move the "More" and "Join" buttons to the left side of the tourney lists to shorten this? As a general principle, I suggest buttons be placed consistently rather than randomly, eg, more to top and left, or right and bottom, or whatever, but not helter-skelter or along any margin. tOM
  12. I am using Firefox. But why do urls work in chat as active links? Why not here too?
  13. Second problem - the Handviewer documentation doesn't mention GIB!
  14. One problem - the handviewer has GIB turned off.
  15. Would be nice to be able to filter "Who's Online" by country, but also by one or more other attributes, eg: - language - expertise - text in system text - text in notes text - in any tourney or team game / not (especially useful for finding a P for a tourney) - friend / not Even better if one or more attributes could be shown in colours, eg, showing people just "Online", not in a tourney or registered for one with a different text or background colour. And/or save these filters on custom tab(s)
  16. I'd like to be able to display the "More" info about a tourney while playing a board. How about a More button at the bottom of the web hand?
  17. Currently tourneys supply a list of scores for each hand everyone has completed. How about displaying a total (IMPs) or overall average(MPs) as well!
  18. Currently the Subsitute button in the web browser, when displaying a list of tourneys, allows volunteering to be a substitute in all tourneys (plus team games). Why not restrict it to the list of tourneys logically shown? IE, if all tourneys shown, substitute is for all, if free, only for free tourneys, etc.
  19. Thanks, I may try that, create a SED script or something. But simpler if each LIN file were already named something like: 2009-07-31-2359.92~4Hxx6~99.57%.lin Then you can view/choose the LIN files in Program Explorer right after a download, not after a bunch of tedious manipulations.
  20. Better to always have some penalty to encourage fast play. There are other ways to encourage playing faster, eg, have a green circle, divided into the number of boards per round, with a red color slowly being rotated into it. If timers are kept for each pair, have a 2nd circle for the pair, as well as overall. But let players use all the time for the round (usu 1-3 boards) rather than handle each hand separately
  21. Currently the Options - Handviewer buttons for a finished hand give you a box with a TinyURL link which has to be copied and pasted into a new tab or window. Why not just open the Handviewer page? You make other links live, so it does work. tOM :P
  22. I'd like to be able to take my ACBL card, and modify it slightly for different Ps, or to be able to choose for new Ps. You can do this with the existing text card - just change the name. But you can't with the ACBL card! It changes the name of the original! How about having the same behaviour, or having a "save copy as..." button.
  23. One suggestion for GIB: Currently, it progresses one trick at a time. But then you can't see the valuation of the cards of the players when they choose which card to play. How about a "card" step as well as a "trick"step? tOM ;P
