Yes, good players can get caught in the "good results" sieve. That is why more analysis is needed. I suggested psychic defence is the best significator. For DD analysis of many deals, download http://bridgecaptain...downloadDD.html You can do this for your own or others' deals.

IP banishment and ID banishment have problems... Since they play to win, maybe when identified, BBO can just maladjust their hands, preferably with a few tricks to play, so they do poorly and get continually frustrated. Especially when the hand has mystical bidding. TDs could do this too, but hard to watch 1 table all the time..... tOM

Some people cheat. Either they play both sides in 2 windows/tabs, or they share screens with P, or they talk with P.. But how can BBO identify them? Some players complain & someone may look at them, but that is labour intensive. Some signs of cheaters: - monthly or longer average >60% - always play with same few Ps - exceptional defensive play Could BBO discover them via a computer program? AND distinguish cheaters from good players? Well, I suggest using a sieve to identify cheating pairs. consistent average >60% resulting from successful bidding and playplay on defense is much better than when declaring, since on defense they know the entire distribution. "Better" means more tricks, either directly compared to other players playing the same hand/trump/declarer, and/or using GIB play as a yardstick. (even better if BBO can compare same hands, same suit trump, same declarer)on defense, 1st lead is more successful than other players's 1st leads, or is consistently GIB's choice for best results. This should identify a few pairs which are very lucky. If they continue to be successful in the next week or month, this is a good indication that they may be cheaters. Good players will make good plays both declaring and defending, so will escape the sieve. Lucky players will "revert to the mean" in following results, so they were "just lucky" for that period of time. Then a manual review can done, especially of hands identified where the defensive play was exceptionally good. Was the play obvious from the particular bidding? Or did it show knowledge of partner's hand? Then those IDs can be banned tOM

Is there an API for clubs to get stats about players in their tourneys?

Show Pairs/Indy/Teams on board display

Have you looked at the tabs? They show the tourney number, host, table#, section#, and then tourney number(repeated) then pairs/indy/team, then tourney name. Usually only the tourney number and host are visible. If you expect people to use the tab/window title, put the important info first so we can easily see it! But you do have lots of room on the table for this in the left hand corner - are you planning to use this for adverts or something? -
One mark of a good player is that she knows when a contract is solid against any distribution partway thru the play and claims. So, the % of good claims is a measure of how good the player is. I suggest BBO should record the number of good claims and the number of bad claims as a % of boards played and display it as Claims: 4.67%/0.01% on the player's profile page. As well as showing how good a player is, this will also encourage players to claim earlier, speeding up play & tourneys. A "good" claim is one which accords with GIB double dummy solver, whether or not it is accepted by opp(s).http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif A "bad" claim is one which does not.http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif

It does make sense to just not show tourneys which a person cannot play in, eg, on BL, language, country, etc. It would be much more polite just to not show the tourneys available -- or use colours and icons to indicate which tourneys can be played by the player, and why others cannot be: - ALLOWEDhttp://www.bridgebase.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif - too new - tcr too low - on BL - ignored by host - specific language - specific country (or just display flag) - club only - custom list only - friends only - player level too low - masterpoints too low That way the player will not have to click thru 40 tourneys to find one she can play in. Less bandwidth for BBO, too, and less investigation & explaining by TDs answering "why am i banned"? tOM
-
So add one to both tourneys & regular tables!
-
Often subs lose track of whether they are in an Indy, Pairs, or Team event. It only shows on the invite, and if they take time to read it, they may be too late. BBO should display on the tabletop, bottom left, near the Round info, whether the tourney is Indy, Pairs or Team
-
For TDs managing slow unclocked tourneys, it is difficult to find the slow tables. If the current board number were displayed for each table, it would be easier for the TD to urge speed or to adjust.
-
Currently a TD may allow or forbid kibitzers. So as players finish a tourney (esp Unclocked), to allow the finished players to watch others' mistakes http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif , the TD must turn on kibitzing for all, even possible substitutes. It would be great if one could set tourneys to allow only finished players to kibitz, as well as the All or None choices. tOM

You are disturbing the paradigm by having non-buttons to push. 1. Make the big choices big buttons 2. Reduce mouse movement by having, when you push each button, the most common choice positioned right under that button.

Ethical Players Vs Cheaters

Whispers should not be judgements. If cheating is suspected, it should be proven and the cheaters banned. -

:-( If no subs can be added, then robots should play the hand out.

Show double dummy results for played hands.
0 carbon replied to 0 carbon's topic in Suggestions for the Software
Hello, is anybody from BBO actually look at the suggestions and make replies? Or does this all go into a black hole............ -
Currently, myhands displays the list of boards straight down the middle. But when you click on the movie, the pop-up shows which obscures the board list. Could the board list please be put to one side or the other so that one can see both the board and all of the list of hands?

If you have volunteered to substitute in one tournament or more, then the substitute button should be yellowed like the registration button is when you registered for tournament. If you have volunteered to substitute for all tournaments all of the button should be yellow. But if you only volunteered to substitute for one or a few tournaments, then only half the substitute button should be yellowed.
