If you removed the ♣K I'd bid 1N. This is way too much for 1N, and opening 1♥ seems silly. 1♣ describes the hand very well. As a side note, I'd suggest to lower the Queen Point requirement for 1♣ to 9, there are plenty of hands that I'd want to open 1♣ that have 9 (or even less) QP.

I'd have overcalled 2♠, I have shortness, and am not happy with defending 2♦. I doubt I'll be thrilled with any of the results, but I think it's the least of evils. I'm a big believer in the hand with shortness acting.

We hadn't discussed exclusion and I didn't want to risk anything. My partner declared 6♠ on the ♣4 lead, the 8 came from dummy, 7 from RHO (Standard). I think it's better if you have 2♥ and higher available to use 2♥ as 12+ with shortness, and 2♠, 3♣, 3♦, 3♥ for 8-11 with stiffs. After 2♥, 2♠ asks, 2N is 16+, 3 level is 12-15. You could use 2♥ as a 14+ BAL hand instead of shortness if you wanted as well.

Everyone is VUL I thought? I would never dream of 2N with the north hand. I'd be tempted by 3♣ though. 3N was aggressive, but assuming partner has a real 2N call it's not too bad. Sitting for the double is silly though. I'd say 35% for North, 65.00001% for South

Alright, thanks for the idea about reversing 4C and 4H. I'll talk that one over with partner. I was actually originally given partners hand and asked what to do over 1D(3S)5H. I'll post that in a separate thread.
