  1. http://www.bridgebase.com/client/client.php?lang=en If you want English, use this link. I use it all the time in Japan.
  2. You should have doubled or bid 1 spade after the 1 diamond as your values with shortage in clubs. Probably Double is best. Why do you think Partner had not enough to double 1 club for takeout but when they get three clubs he suddenly has enough to double for takeout. It makes no sense that his double is for takeout, it must be penalty. Take your chances and let him try to take them down.
  3. Couldn't we have the time- EST (America) somewhere on BBO that you refer to? Would make it simpler to understand the times of Vugraphs etc.
  4. 3H is hardly bad- you have diamonds, EW have diamonds therefore its at least fifty-fifty that partner has hearts indeed its probably even higher than that given that both opponents have strength then its more likely your partner is sitting over the strong hand with hearts at least 3 and an honour (best place for it).
  5. So where is the rest of GIB's system card - the thread linking to it is threadbare?
  6. I merely pick enemies/friends on the basis of I've seen them play in free tournaments and their bidding/play was extremely bad (e.g. go down in easy play contracts) or reasonable (don't have to be fantastic - I am not great myself).
  7. I doubt its a real problem. The advanced only thinks more so even more stupid decisions which relate to the instantaneously correct decision not the actual correct decision whereas the fast version might play correct for the wrong reason it hasn't thought long enough.
  8. Banks are barely regulated- maybe a lot of laws, rules but not applied. Why do you think they (America) have got away with massive poor assessments of loans and then poor consideration of foreclosures. Rules are worth anything without enforcement.
  9. Simple ace and king count.
  10. You can rent a robot to play with in open tables.
  11. Exactly you can potentially knock out one honour from declarer hand from the KQxx of hearts.
  12. If he wants a useless lead, a 10 of D is much better and not misleading. They made.
  13. [hv=pc=n&s=sj2haj82dt54cq872&w=skqt865h65da2cj43&n=sa943hqt7dkj76ct9&e=s7hk943dq983cak65&d=e&v=0&b=14&a=1cp1sp1np3sp3nppp]399|300[/hv] BBO Free Express (SAYC) Only two pairs in 3NT and my partner leads his lowest diamond misdirecting me to keep leading diamonds. Another leads his lowest club (granted he got slightly different bidding) Why doesn't anyone lead the low heart?
  14. Given GIB passed the first round, gotta to pass 4NT no matter what its supposed to mean. If it was a human then he could hold [hv=pc=n&s=s2hakda65c876543]133|100[/hv] Not a wise raise given that the spades are so good just rebid them or jump to game.
  15. Except that that 2NT is vague. Opponents will come in with their own suit and raise it when you have a good secondary fit or possibly not. Partner's going to need a top quality hand to make 3NT on this hand such 3 aces including AC and an honour in diamonds or strongly top honours clubs and spades with some little support in diamonds so 3C is fine, he will continue with such a powerful hand. You could hardly have a near bust and opponents not enter bidding.
  16. Interesting that people are going laws assessment on this topic- I just thought people could offer their most rediculous claims accepted. I saw another one at a high level competition on BBO [hv=pc=n&s=sa764ha76dq54ckjt&w=skt85hkjt954d832c&n=sqj2h832dt9ca9632&e=s93hqdakj76cq8754]399|300[/hv] After some bidding, West reaches 3H. North leads the Q♠, South wins the A♠ and returns spade. West ducks to give North the J♠. Declarer concedes one down when with reasonable play it should be contract made.
  17. Generally in the that Express tournament with about half really bad player including one that took me down in four spades with where simple direct of spades would have guaranteed the contract.
  18. If a defender declines to ruff, the declarer can discard all diamonds and ruff a diamond- not likely that opponent will be able rid himself of his diamonds just before that same time. Basic play.
  19. He can't draw the last trump and ruff with it. One or the other. I didn't play the third round of spades. Defender has to have the lead to draw the last trump. In deed defender can have 2 clubs and 3 spades and the contract is still made.
  20. How about cash two top spades, run clubs (assume the hand with 3 spades has at least 3 clubs and discard diamonds, giving you only two diamond losers as one is ruffed.
  21. Win with the Jack of Hearts (I assume 5-0 break), play the KC, no doubt after one spade round then win a heart round , cash the QC, rough a spade, cash the clubs to ditch the diamonds of course opponent with 5 hearts will ruff but has to either give ruff sluff, set up diamonds or exhaust hearts and then you take the chance on the diamonds running
  22. This all describes how badly designed the GIB bidding system is. North is only worth a 2♠ rebid- Clubs can hardly be excluded as a contract and spades are strong nor the whole hand.
  23. Obviously no simulation involved- GIB always picks what it thinks is the worst lead. I equally love GIB for taking the contract from a near solid 7H to force it into only robot makeable 7NT. Why I'd never play with a GIB!
