  1. Too many losers to cover. I'm passing
  2. Ditto. The ♠ are just barely good enough
  3. I play 4th suit as a game force so I cannot bid this way. 3♦ is possible which shows a 2 suited invitational hand. At the table I'm bidding 2♥ and expect to go +
  4. What is a surprise to me is how many regard this DBL as penalty in nature. It seems a workable method but for me the DBL was intended as card showing.....partner to do something intelligent. If you play this DBL as penalty how do you ever get to 3NT when North holds a ♠ card?. Clearly a decent possibility on this auction.
  5. [hv=d=e&v=n&n=sjxxhxdjxxxckxxxx&w=shdc&e=shdc&s=sxxhakdaqtxxxcatx]399|300|Scoring: MP 1♠ 2♦ p 3♦ 3♠ DBL All Pass[/hv] Do you agree with South's DBL? Should North pull?
  6. I strongly dislike a 1♦ opening with a hand this good. Yeh, you know partner is going to bid ♠, thats not the end of the world. I prefer 1♣(1♠)2♥ and lets see...I'll pass 2♠. Over 2NT I'll try 3♣and play 3♦ if thats P next call. Ofcourse a Roman 2♦ gets it off my chest in 1 shot :)
  7. Maybe, just maybe, the opponents have forgotten their agreements. The DBL of 2♦ could possibly be for takeout!.
  8. 5NT. Accepting and leaving options open for 7
  9. I thought penalty DBL's in this context had become passe.
  10. 3♣ is a must for me at my second turn. Perhaps that's the flaw! it becomes awfully difficult to slow down when the bidding races up so fast. I think I'll manage to stop in 5, and I'm not buying all the previous posts who stop in 4 :)
  11. It is for this reason I would have bid 2NT/2♠. I agree, mostly so partner can rebid 3♣ if he has them. Seems to me a 2NT call over 2♠ should deny a useful side suit. How do you ever find your ♦ slam? Partner hasn't passed out 2NT yet so we won't miss a 5-4 diamond fit. If your main priority is finding a 5-3 diamond slam from responder's side with his Kxxxx, you need to reexamine your priorities. Maybe I asked the wrong question. Seems a number of you prefer 2NT vs 3♦ as a rebid. I confess it never occured to me at the table ( I need 2♠ for that bid ), can't say that I see any compelling reason to feel different now!. Admittedly 3NT seems the better call over 3♠. Thankyou for the response.

  13. I think both can share the blame. South had a reasonable 3♠ available/3♦. But, probably N should call 3NT at their 2nd turn. For me its 75/25
  14. That is just about what I was thinking. I can live with 3NT but 4♣ makes me cringe.
  15. [hv=d=n&v=b&s=s5h843dk9642cqj74]133|100|Scoring: IMP 2♣----2♦ 2♠----3♦ 3♠---- ?[/hv] Your 2♦ is GF and 3♦ shows 5+ without 2 honors. What do you bid over 3♠
  16. For me an immediate raise of the Minor shows more than a minimum and at least 3 good trumps. Over 3♦ I would not consider anything other than 3NT. 2♠ is a reasonable alternative to raising ♦ immediately, this will fetch a 3NT rebid which pretty much shows a 1NT opener in my methods.
  17. Vugraph broadcasts are great. It's a privilage and a delight to witness world class players compete from all over the globe. Commentators bring the show to life with their remarks, analysis, and witisisms. I never watch one in a foreign language and would probably not watch at all if there was no comments offered. IMO the critisism is nonsence and I sincerely hope the broadcasts will continue in an unabashed and unbiased manner. Call it the way you see it! and rest assured the vast majority of us appreciate your time an efforts. Thankyou all and keep up the great work.
  18. 3♦ most certainly denies 4♠ and 2NT can be rebid when holding 4♠. So the possible 4/4 ♠ fit has been lost
  19. Only 2 bids appeal 2♠ can be a dub in this sequence. I will pass 3NT 4♦ second choice.
  20. [hv=d=s&v=n&s=stxhxdakqtxxxxcax]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] You open 1♦ LHO bids 1♥ partners passes and RHO bids 1NT Your bid? Is this an automatic DBL? and if so what does it mean? Thanks for the comments
  21. Why stop there? Maybe another suit could be Phased in over time.
  22. 1. = 10+ to 12 2. = 3NT, 3NT, 2♦
