  1. Best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most joyous traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, but with respect for the religious persuasion of others who choose to practice their own religion as well as those who choose not to practice a religion at all; plus, A fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the generally accepted calendar year 2022, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of the other cultures whose contributions have helped make our society great, without regards to the race, creed, color, religious, or sexual preferences of the wishees. (disclaimer: This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for him/herself or others and no responsibility for any unintended emotional stress these greetings may bring to those not caught up in the holiday spirit.)
  2. Ah, yes. Utopia. Maybe some day. I doubt neither you nor I will be around to see it. But maybe someday.
  3. In August I bought a substantial chunk of Pfizer (PFE) @$45.23. It closed today @$61.26. Needless to say, I am a huge fan of vaccines. OTOH I am a huge fan of those who, for whatever reason, refuse to take it. It's the American way. You, and others like you, can take Ben Franklin's comment as you wish. I'll take it as I wish. “Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
  4. "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
  5. Yes he was. And still vertical. He'll be 89 next month...probably, like many of us, not as peppy as he once was...but still kickin'. I wish him well.
  6. Not really. I just thought Ken might enjoy it since he posts frequently about the value of education. But you are perfectly entitled to your opinion.
  7. I think Kenberg will appreciate this. I don't consider it classical poetry, but thought-provoking nonetheless. by Charles Osgood from the Osgood File, 1986 There once was a pretty good student Who sat in a pretty good class And was taught by a pretty good teacher Who always let pretty good pass. He wasn’t terrific at reading, He wasn’t a whiz-bang at math, But for him, education was leading Straight down a pretty good path. He didn’t find school too exciting, But he wanted to do pretty well, And he did have some trouble with writing Since nobody taught him to spell. When doing arithmetic problems, Pretty good was regarded as fine. 5+5 needn’t always add up to be 10; A pretty good answer was 9. The pretty good class that he sat in Was part of a pretty good school, And the student was not an exception: On the contrary, he was the rule. The pretty good school that he went to Was there in a pretty good town, And nobody there seemed to notice He could not tell a verb from a noun. The pretty good student in fact was Part of a pretty good mob. And the first time he knew what he lacked was When he looked for a pretty good job. It was then, when he sought a position, He discovered that life could be tough, And he soon had a sneaking suspicion Pretty good might not be good enough. The pretty good town in our story Was part of a pretty good state Which had pretty good aspirations And prayed for a pretty good fate. There once was a pretty good nation Pretty proud of the greatness it had, Which learned much too late, If you want to be great, Pretty good is, in fact, pretty bad.
  8. For of all sad words of tongue or pen, The saddest are these: "It might have been!" John Greenleaf Whittier 1807-1892 Read the full poem here.
  9. You may be onto something.
  10. I got my answer today about Epsilon, Zeta, Eta, Theta, Iota, Kappa, Lambda, Mu, Nu, and Xi. The WHO said they skipped Nu because it sounds like New and Xi because it's a common name in China. I'm not making this up; I read it on the internet so it must be absolutely true. But I'm still puzzled about Epsilon, Zeta, Eta, Theta, Iota, Kappa, Lambda and Mu. Where'd they go?
  11. What happened to Epsilon, Zeta, Eta, Theta, Iota, Kappa, Lambda, Mu, Nu, and Xi? Same as preparations A through G?
  12. They probably wouldn't think much of Beethoven's Symphony #5 either. Pity. Different strokes for different folks.
  13. Yes. Rosenbaum and Huber definitely were heroes and martyrs. Hopefully statues of them will soon be erected.
  14. What about it do you feel "wrong"? Please expound.
  15. As they say on those Mastercard commercials, "Priceless".
  16. I guess it all boils down to who gets to decide what is "rational". What is "rational" for you may not be "rational" for me. I wish you no ill for your views. I'm content to accept the fact that we don't all see things the same way. I'm not content to accept the "if you're going my way I'll go with you" rationale.
  17. LOL! They really need to get Alex Baldwin back on there to preach for gun control and Al Franken to promote sexual harassment.
  18. "Vaccinate" just came to mind; I don't know why. So I did a search for "Vaccinate" and there were no matches; therefore I assumed it would work.

  20. An astute observation of the blatantly obvious.
  21. They also elected a black female Jamaican immigrant as Lt. Governor. Was that racist? Just askin'..........
  22. I've seldom been a fan of James Carville but I think he hit the head of the nail with this. I think the average American is fed up with bullshit. I know I am.
