  1. I am curious as to how this could be enforced. It should be easy enough for new firearms purchases, just like new vehicle purchases; the dealer is responsible for title application and license purchase. But how would you suggest we get existing gun owners (including the thugs and criminally insane) to become licensed and register their weapons?
  2. I'm not opposed to any of that. I'm not sure how practical it is, but it looks good on paper.
  3. I agree wholeheartedly. The crux of the matter is what should those "serious measures" be? Me too. I still have a couple of shotguns and a few pistols. I have a nickel-plated 9mm Radom that my father-in-law brought back from Germany after his tour of duty there during WWII. Do you really think surrendering yours or me surrendering mine will convince the thugs and criminally insane to surrender theirs? In my opinion it is. If someone can come up with a way to confiscate (and prevent future purchases of) firearms by those with evil intent I'm all for it. I just don't believe that confiscation of firearms from law-abiding citizens like you and me is the answer.
  4. My level of sarcasm is directly proportional to the the level of stupidity addressed.
  5. Yes! By Jove, I think you've got it! We just respectfully ask the thugs and criminally insane to peacefully surrender their firearms and be nice from now on. That should do it.
  6. I agree. I just read that 70% of all the school shootings over the past decade or so have been carried out by boys less than 18 years of age. So what do we do? Outlaw firearm purchases for young men under the age of 21? Only to read in a few years, "70% of all school shootings carried out by young men less than 22 years of age." It is heartbreaking and I don't think anybody has an answer. Fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly, we gotta have evil 'til the day that we die. I don't like it, but that just seems to be the way it is.
  7. In Flanders Fields John McCrae - 1872-1918 In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
  8. 1. Proving that what’s old is new again, here is how the late William Safire began his New York Times column of Jan. 8, 1996: “Americans of all political persuasions are coming to the sad realization that our First Lady — a woman of undoubted talents who was a role model for many in her generation — is a congenital liar. “Drip by drip, like Whitewater torture, the case is being made that she is compelled to mislead, and to ensnare her subordinates and friends in a web of deceit.” With that said I am convinced that the "big lie" was exactly that.....a big lie. 2. I'm really not sure what "Replacement Theory" is. I've read little about it. 3. CRT, in my opinion, is bullshit. And parents at the local level should have a say about what's being taught in the government schools. 4. Abortion should be available, but the cutoff (or cut out if you prefer) date should be left to local governments. No woman should have to endure an unwanted pregnancy. But she should be sensible enough to end it early on. Fifteen weeks seems reasonable to me. 5. We don't need more gun control. We need more idiot control.
  9. The world will little note, nor long remember, what you say here. But please do carry on. You truly are a legend in your own mind.
  10. Quite true. But hopefully it can be voted out of office. And you, like Biden, need to eat more fiber.
  11. Well it is somewhat discomfiting to know that the "silent majority" exceeds 75% of those polled. They must all be in Australia. LOL.
  12. Get over yourself Winnie. You are not the sole arbiter of who's stupid. I saw a poll just today which showed that 75% of Americans think the country is headed in the wrong direction. Call them stupid if you like but they, like you, also have one vote.
  13. After our President made comments this week about inflation, Sen. Kennedy of Louisiana was asked to comment. He said, “the President needs to eat more fiber.” Let me know if you don’t get it.
  14. I'm not insisting that at all. I acknowledge the fact that Biden won and I wish him well. But so far he and his manipulators have been a big disappointment as I see it. If you are happy with the direction of our country I'm happy for you. It just proves, once again, that we don't all see things the same way.
  15. I readily agree that the Republicans are not perfect. But the Democrats, in my opinion, are insane.
  16. Nothing was stated as fact, just my opinion. And you know what "they" say about opinions.....they're just like assholes; everybody has one. I respect yours; I hope you respect mine. And when you get right down to where the rubber meets the road the only opinion that really matters in the subject under discussion is that of the SCOTUS.
  17. I agree. If a woman has missed 6.5 menstrual cycles and still doesn't know she's pregnant then her mother, the government schools, or both, have failed miserably. As y66 pointed out, over 93% of all abortions are performed within the first 13 weeks of pregnancy. I have no problem with that. A 16 year-old girl has no business with a baby; it's not fair to the baby; she can't support it; the sperm donor has had his pleasure and left the scene; so have it aborted. But do it early in the pregnancy.
  18. FWIW I find that completely reasonable. Hopefully the voters in Georgia, Texas, and other states can convince their legislators to adopt the Mississippi version (15 weeks). The "fetal heartbeat" laws stink in my opinion. From what I read a fetal heartbeat can occur before a woman is absolutely sure she's knocked up.
  19. That is what is so disheartening to me. Both sides are dug in to "my way or the highway". Middle ground is obviously obsolete.
  20. Could you please elaborate on this observation? Exactly what are the "curtailments"? Thank you for a reasoned response.
  21. Somehow I missed this. I read the complete brief (98 pages) and I found no mention of The War Between the States. Could you please provide a reference? Thanks.
  22. You may want to check out Disney too. It's not looking too peppy either.
  23. On to Netflix!! It's getting cheaper by the day.
