  1. 2C rebid 2C rebid is artificial and round forcing. I play it this way: 1S - 1NT 2C: a) Natural, [11-15] with clubs B) [15-18] BAL, 5S(332) c) Any [16+] hand unsuitable for a clear reverse (5431 shapes etc.) So, 1S-1NT-3m becomes a clear 5-5 GF reverse and bidding is then much easier. Turbo 4NT After estabilishing a fit and cue-bidding: a) 4NT shows 0/2/4 (of 5) key-cards B) New-cue implies 1/3/5 key-cards. After that 5NT is used to show the Q of trumps. Only exception: 1C-1any-2C is natural and NF. B)
  2. Must have: UDCA NEG X TRF (Jacoby, South-african, after X) CUE as INV+ raise 100% forcing 2C rebid Turbo 4NT CUE FSJ/FNJ Two-suited overcalls (Michaels etc.) Lebensohl 4SF Can live without: RKCB (in most cases) PREE jumpshifts DONT Useless: Gerber Flannery Namyats Ogust
  3. Only 25% since I'm not sure partner has 5-carder D. IMPs or MPs? I'll bid 4D showing exactly this type of hand (long diamonds, some defence).
  4. Since a new suit on 3rd level is played as at least "round forcing bid" this hand is a very bad example of it. Only invitational values, misfitting in clubs... It would be a disaster when opener rebids 3NT. What now? Pass for two-down when opener holds the 3325 pattern (most probably)? Two better alternatives are: a) 2NT, natural invitation (very doubtful, with void), :) 2H, pass/correct, aiming a Moysian fit in major (best choice). Poky
  5. All vul, IMPs, the bidding goes: (pass) pass (3H) ? You hold: AKJx Jxx x AK8xx Bid and explain, please!
  6. Playing ACOL I would open 1NT. But doesn't matter. After (1C) - 1D - (1H) your 1NT is OK. It shows [9-11] with good stoppers. I don't like 2C 'cause this bid would imply little more in diamonds and little less in their suits. Spades are to weak to be introduced. After opener failed to bid 2H, a clear mistake, your partner has to rebid 2S, showing a good two-suited hand. He has only 4 LT and you are showing a constructive hand. You bid 4S and that's it! B)
  7. 1) Since my p's Dbl is pure T/O I'll bid 4NT as "pick a suit"! Pass is suicidal! 2) a) Yes B) Dbl, showing a strong hand willing to bid further. Even if I don't find the 6-2 spade fit, this is the best description of my hand. Partner can pass with something like [xx K10xx Qxxx xx].

    I will pass and balance opponents ' 1D/2D with 1H/2H because I play transfers after 1C - (Dbl): XX = 5+D 1D = 5+H 1H = 5+S 1S = 7-10 no 4M 1NT = 5+C, 6+ 2C = 5C, 0-5. My successive major-bid after initial pass promises only 4 cards (failure to bid transfer), cause the Dble would be strongly penalty suggesting (some kind of [Axx Kxx KQ10x Kxx] hand).
  9. Sorry for the 14th card. Take away a diamond. I had 2326.
  10. You are playing [15-17] 1NT with standard Lebensohl and South-African transfers (not Texas!!!). The bidding goes: 1NT - (2D*) - 4H! - (pass!) ??? * Alerted as: 4H and a longer suit (canape' style). a) Do you agree with 1NT opening (look hand below)? B) What do you bid with... A10 KJ6 J96 KQ10863 ...and why?
  11. [shadow=red, left]Hand 1[/shadow] Pass, partner didn't bid 3H as Michaels. I have really nothing extra. [shadow=red, left]Hand 2[/shadow] 5D, showing slam ambitions. But very difficult to understand right after the previous 4H bid. [shadow=red, left]Hand 3[/shadow] Dbl (if 4C set up a forcing pass situation) or Pass (else). Misfitting in clubs. 5S is most probably going down. [shadow=red, left]Hand 4[/shadow] 5H. Putting pressure on opps, not giving them room to bid 5H. I'll leave them to play in 5S. But if I'm passed hand - Pass!!! Partner may hold 4S and bid tactically with a strong hand.
  12. Playing some kind of multi 1C with transfer responses (1D=H, 1H=S) what are the best continuations when opponents' Dbl our partner's response naturally (suit showing)? Example. 1C is [12-14] / [18-19] BAL or natural unbalanced. The bidding goes: 1C - (Pass) - 1D - (Dbl) I personally play: pass = weak-NT, 2H (or 4333) Rdbl = 16+ hand, could be strong-NT with 3H 1H = weak-NT, 3H (no 4333) 2H = weak-NT, 4H 3H = min UNB, 4H 1NT = support, 3H, UNB hand with clubs 2NT = inv+ UNB, 4H 2D = strong-NT, 4H. What do you think about it? Could this structure be improoved? Ty, Poky
  13. Partner has a distributional holding. Something like the 5125 pattern. Let's say [KQ8xx x ?x AQxxx]. Both finesses in S and C should be wrong so I would bid Pass. If partner reopens with a Dbl (holding something extra, say DA). I'll stay for it... Got I this one right? B)
  14. Hard to make it against trumps 4-1 unless hearts are 3-3. So, I will play for a 3-2 trump break. - Take the CA - Play immediately trump to D8, to preserve communications. a) Opps take the DQ: take return, H to A, H ruff high, DA, D to dummy... B) Opps don't take the DQ (trumps most probably 4-1): C to K, C ruff, DA, DK, H to dummy (hoping in 3-3 split or HJx in hand with 4 trumps)* throwing 3 spades... * Very unlikely as the defender with 4 trumps should have taken DQ and returned H, but a defensive slip is always possible...
  15. I play the same way as Bhugi. 2NT = 20-21 bal 2D multi = 22-23 bal 2C = 24+ bal. Sometimes I open 2D with 21 HCP, [K10x AQx KQ109x AK]... ...and sometimes I open 2NT with 22 HCP, [AKQ 6542 AKQ A63]... ...depending of my own hand evaluation!!!
  16. The type of values, possesion of both majors and the hand strength make this hand a clear-cut 1NT opening. Different thing wiould be wth singleton king in one of major suits...
  17. Indeed, my bid was 5D. Partner held: KQJ8x Jx AKxx Kx ... for 5Dx made and a swing of 1170 (550+620) when the club ace wasn't lead B) The 2nd question arises now: What would you have bid with my partner's hand: a) Dbl :P 1
  18. Why a diamond, Luis? Really, that was the only lead that I excluded immediately. Opener very probably has 5D and 4C... Or maybe you try to guess opener's [Qxx x Jxxx AKQJx]? B)
  19. Smallest club, right time to be aggressive... Dummy can hold KJx... in clubs and p Qx... :B) Poky
  20. 4NT as RKCB. On 5C -> 5S On 5D -> 6S On 5H -> 6S On 5S -> 7S (no 7NT on IMPs cause p could theoretically have [AKQXxx x xxx xxx], maybe :)) Poky
  21. IMPs, only they Vul 10x - J96542 J10964 (1C*) - Dbl - (2H**) - ? * Better minor, 3+c ** Explained as (i'm on other side of screen) "I'm not 100% sure, but is should be weak..." What you bid and why? Poky
  22. IMPs, only we Vul A A765432 AJ6 86 1H - (2C) - 2D [natural forcing] - (3C) ? a) What you think about: 3D, 4D, 5D, 3H, 4H and 4C bids? Explain. :) What will you bid? Poky
  23. I use relay structure with very strong hands over 1NT opening... 1NT 2C - ® 2D - No 4H 2H - ® 2S - 4S 2NT - ® 3H - 4333 3S - Control ask 3NT - 0-4 4C - Spiral scan trigger 4D - No spade A/K or AKQ in spades 4H - ® 4NT - No diamond A/K 5C - ® 5D - No club A/K 5H - ® 5S - No heart Q 5NT - ® 6H - diamond Q, club Q, no spade J 7D - Ty partner! :) Poky
  24. Anyway, partner held a good dummy: 8x Q Kx QJ10xxxxx And 4Sx was -1. -200 was 0%. 5C was making if opps don't lead a spade in time.... Poky
  25. I think classic responsive double should deny spades and show at least 4-4 minor pattern with enough values... Am I wrong? Poky
