  1. In a normal American 2/1 style, you can argue about where to draw the line with 5-5, but this is not particularly close to it.
  2. 1S-2H 2S-2N 3H-3S I think all these bids are more or less clear. Now south can bid 3N or 4S, and I would just bid 4S, oh well.
  3. 1D-1H 4C-4H P Sometimes you miss a more or less indifferent slam when partner has a max, that's fine.
  4. I agree that the club lead looks like the normal lead..I meant only that there was some justification for a heart lead: indeed, two good players I gave this to both proposed a heart as their second choice, for the reason I suggested, but both led a club. As for my opinion, I couldn't give one because I knew the hand. Obviously a heart would be the second choice, leading a spade (or diamond lol) on this auction is hopeless imo.
  5. I don't agree with 2H, but it has worked out well and I would just pass, since doubling seems fairly bad if the other table is in 4S, and is not even particularly good if the other table is in 5S.
  6. Negative double and pulling 3D to 3H is NF, so that seems normal We will get into some trouble if partner has 4 hearts and 4 clubs (since we will play 3C instead of 4H), but unfortunately we can't cater to this without giving up on clubs.
  7. I thought pass was pretty clear, did everyone notice this was matchpoints?
  8. I would be very happy if declarer made such a statement like that and it turns out we could beat him. I think it is likely I could get an adjusted score, no matter if I would have found the surrounding play to squeeze dummy or not. (I could be wrong about this.)
  9. I would double, we are white at MP and I have a nonembarrassing hand with four spades.
  10. Which regions are those Roger?Poland was the one I was thinking of, but it is in the context of a lower 1M upper range, so it's not an ideal example. I also thought it was normal in many Asian countries to pass with less than 6, but many of these pairs are playing strong club.
  11. Without saying anything about what one should or shouldn't do, in a long KO match (especially where I am playing 4-handed) I think it would be fairly advantageous to me to know when the contract I'm defending is 100% to make on any layout or not. I am one of those people who can only think so much per day of bridge.
  12. Is pass clearly wrong or something? Pretty surprised this is not even being discussed as an option.
  13. I agree with Cascade, but not as emphatically as he agrees with himself.
  14. Han, you are so scandalous.
  15. Yeah I would bid 2D, I agree that pass is horrible. 2C is too likely to run into bad breaks (basically 100% of the time you get to play 2C possibly doubled, LHO has 4+ trumps).
  16. I think most players would concede that there are regions of the world where this is a normal pass and there are regions of the world where this is a normal 1N. The_Hog, I don't know why you need to be so dogmatic about it.
  17. Being NV at matchpoints is a reason for bidding 1N, not a reason to pass.
