  1. hi, I've been trying to test the Karen Walker aproach Jump Reverse Rebids describe a minimum 6-5 hand that has greater length in the lower-ranking suit. http://www.prairienet.org/bridge/jumprev.htm But must confess that I still have to find the hand to do it  Pedro
  2. Hi, well not sure if you interrested in a begginer response :) I would say that it could be Gerber or some sort of RKC Gerber. But since perhaps you have the texas+4NT for ace asking I would say that this should have only 5 cards and use the 4NT has a choice of slams... What is wot-not B) Pedro
  3. Hi All, [hv=d=s&v=e&n=sat92h54d987ck652&s=s4hak9dakt653ca43]133|200|Scoring: IMP 1♦ - 1♠ 3♦ - All Pass[/hv] Yesterday I was given this nice hand, and when the came back to me I though I had a easy rebid of 3♦, my partner complained I should have bid 2NT to show my strength... I though that 3♦ would show also strength and a unbalanced hand, and that 2NT would always promise a balanced hand beside the point count. To the issue of the balanced hand, she replied to me that ♠ was his suit so I could think of my hand has balanced.... :( ty for all Pedro Gil
  4. This agreement is taken from from the Book "25 conventions you should know" at least it's what it said in the document I've founf in the WWW... 1♦ - 1♠ - 1NT - 2♣ 2NT: Minimum with no 4-card heart suit or 3-card spade suit; stoppers in clubs and hearts 2♦ : Minimum with no 4-card heart suit or 3-card spade suit; no stopper in one of unbid suits 3NT: Maximum with no 4-card heart suit or 3-card spade suit; stopper in clubs and hearts 3♣ : Maximum with no 4-card heart suit or 3-card spade suit; stopper in suit bid, but not in hearts 3♦ : Maximum with no 4-card heart suit or 3-card spade suit; stopper in hearts, but not in clubs Seems a lot like the description I made... 5. You don't have to feel confortable, but you should bid it anyway :) The point is that the alternative, a 5m contract, is only (statistically) viable if the wide open suit has a singleton in front. When responder has no singleton, he should just bid 3NT. hehe, I understand :D :) I like the recomendation Richardrls gives "Take a deep breath..." and pull out the card from the bidding box, IF you ever see opp's doing that lead clubs... LOL... :) Pedro
  6. Hi all and thanks for all the answers, The bypass of the spades, well in my agreement if you don't bid 1♠ after a opening of 1♥ you don't have 4 spades. So I never considered the auction 1♣-1♥-1NT-2♦-2♠, showing 4 cards, I've read somewhere on the WWW that it could show 3 good ones, but really prefer Hardy treatment in that this "impossible" spade holding would show a lack of stopper. (or I may be wrong and show the existence of a stopper) I can confirm this tonight. About probing for stoppers in a way to the NT contract, maybe it's me that is in the beggining stage of the Bridge, and still don't conceal much information from opp's, because thinking first in transmitting that same information to partner... But many are the places where you show / ask for stoppers in a way to the NT contract. I fully agree with using the NMF to seek the 5-3 or 4-4 fit, and that the hand that I presented should not use NMF... But do not agree that I feel confortable bidding 3NT with a complete open suit, if it's because it's clubs we can change clubs with spades and my problem would be the same. I think. Just a small question, does the 2NT rebid promise both unbid suit stopped or not... If it does when I have one of them not stopped what rebid is available... TY all Pedro
  7. Hi All, And thanks for all the answer's... I continue my labor of writing down all the follow up's to my agreements with partner, I find that if we don't do it there will be so many wholes... Does the 2NT/3NT promise stoppers in the unbid suits? What I tryed, to come up with and would like some advises on problems and improvments: 1♣ - 1♥- 1NT - 2♦- ?? 2♥/3♥ = 3 card support min/max 2♠ on this particular auction, promise a stopper in ♠ but not in ♦ 2NT - stoppers in both the unbid suits 3♣ - all minimal hand, with no stopers, no 3 hearts 3♦ - stopper in diamonds but not in spades This will have to change a bit if the major of the responder is spades 1♣ - 1♠- 1NT - 2♦- ?? 2♥ - 4cards in hearts 2♠ - 3cards in spades 2NT - stoppers in both the unbid suits 3♣ - all minimal hand, with no stopers, no 3spades or 4hearts 3♦ - stopper in diamonds but not in hearts (or we can reverse here) Another BIG question is... Is NMF only a tool to search for a 5-3 fit? And should we only use it when holding 5 of the major or 5/4... I had this hand [hv=s=saq3hakt9d432c863]133|100|[/hv] Auction went 1♦ - 1♥ - 1NT - Back to me, i know we have game, and that probably NT will be the place, is it wise for me to search for a club stoper or should I just blast to 3NT and hope partner has it? Thanks all for the answers Pedro
  8. Interresting treatment, so you would use the 3 level for a splinter with no slam interrest and the 4 level for a splinter with slam possibility. Ty a lot for the Input...
  9. Hi All, I'm trying to add Kokish Game Tries to my partnership agreements, and I'm writing the full possible answer, and having some doubts about some sequences, if you could help me on those I would TY all a lot. (opp's are always silent) 1H-2H-3H --> what is the possible agreement on this, trump asking? what would be necessary to make a positive answer. Passing the partscore of 3H, for sure must be GF but what would you likelly show here: 1H-2H-3S / 1H-2H-3NT / 1H-2H-4C / 1H-2H-4D The same thing happens in the spade sequence Is slam completlly out of the way when a simple raise is made by partner (21+6/9)? 1H-2H-4S --> Kickback Roman Keycard, so that we economise one bid? And for the really positive thinking bid's 1H-2H-6H --> Not sure how this is possible but... 1H-2H-5H --> Grand slam force? Should the bid for the SSGT (1H-2H-3level) have any sort of continuation?. 1H-2H-3C-? Is there only two possible answers (3H or 4H)? or can we make 1H-2H-3C-3D --> and what would this mean... Ty a lot for all the input :P Pedro Gil
  10. Hi, my only advise and from a true begginer :) is that you should pick a partner and discuss this agreements with him, pick more than one partner have a few of them :) But agreements is agreements and nothing you could put on your profile is going to describe what you are realy playing... On the pick up partner don't bother so much and if you come across something ask opp's and make the questions and the agreements on the fly. Just a funny thing I was yesterday playing with regular partner and a opp made a Michaels cuebid alerted like that "Michaels" I had open 1♦ assumed he had 5/5 on the majors, he didn't... he had 5♦+5♠... Well even if it had prevented me from making a extra trick because I though he had some hearts and never diamonds... A few games later he made Michaels again over a ♦ and again to show a completly diferent 2 suits this time ♣ + ♠ well at least it always show spades :) :) B) Pedro
  11. Han, sorry I can't see the 9 tricks... I usually count loser's to open my 2C, and this one have 6 losers, so I was counting it has 7 tricks... But maybe wrong definition of tricks. Pedro
  12. Hand 1 : 10 HCP but that J is paper, 6 losers and a great shape, 2 quick tricks, this hand is for me a open, it meet most of my requirements to open would prefer to have that J on ♥ but then life isn't perfect is it... Hand 2 : I'm not sure what I should open here, I don't want to bid 1♣ and find out that they had the ♥ partscore I can't open a intermediate 12-15, can can easy overbid my clubs, I don't know what to bid so probably would PASS. Pedro not a expert just beginner answer, should I put them in white too :P perhaps.
  13. Hi All, I understand the concept of "Italian cuebids", u should cue first and second round control. It would be helpful if someone could make some notes on it :) I have a question about them, would it make any difference to be cuebiding above or below game level? -- Pedro Gil
  14. Hi Mike, This is independent on Level... and checking it properlly also independent on Bridge Master... I use the Offline version...What I did is I went over all the hands and made them reading the comments so trying and when wrong or right reading comments on the hands... Then I go back and do all the hands at once, like if they were presented to me on a table, no undo's the only advantage is no time constraint... First the first step to the second I waited something like 15 days, you can buy several re-charges if you don't want to wait, or divide or move to level above... The thing is not reading one day and making it in the other, to fresh memories at least for me. U see how many hands you get wrong, if no wrong's, it's perhaps best to move up a level. If u get some wrong, do that level again with a 15 days interval, and see how many at that time B) I keep a excel spreadsheet with the results, what hands I went wrong and the reson why, this will give me a ideia of what areas to work on... I sometimes do the same thing but with subject related... I'm waiting on my recharges B) One thing I would like was that the deal bought on-line and off-line could be interchanged, meaning that If I had bought a off-line I could play them on-line... TY PEdro
  15. OK I'm going to admit it public :o my newbie status... I forgot to check the log deal when Kibitzing... :)   Ty All for the help, your reference to the check option made me click. For future reference, your can find this AT: OPTIONS - At a table - Log Deals TY All Pedro
  16. Hi Wayne, TY, I've just check all my hands in the c:\Bridge Base Online\hands\PedroG and can't find any session made on Partnership bidding, do they get stored in defirent place? TY Pedro Gil
  17. Hi All, Not sure if a suggestion, if a feature already available that I can't find, so hope I'm posting it in the correct place... We have all the hand records if we play a game, but when we are in the partnership bidding room, nothing get's registered... Sometimes I just want to review a few of the hands that were discussed and ZIP... My solution is now doing screen captures :) way way to bad if you want to replay them. TY Pedro Gil
  18. I had an uncontested auction in mind - you are bidding clubs and notrump, p is bidding spades and hearts. So Michael's is not an issue :) Yep yep, my mistake :) so 5/5 possible too :)
  19. In standard bidding, 1♣-1♠ 1NT-2♥* shows a weak hand and command opener to pass (or correct to 2♠). Also 1♣-1♠ 1NT-2♠* Ty Helene, Didn't know it was called that way  1♣-1♠ 1NT-2♥* This sequence it's very interresting :), the other including 2♣ and 2♠, since repeating a previous bid suit a min level are always a sigoff. This can't be 5/5 no Michael's. Since 5/4 and 10+ would be a good hand for NMF, I say this is a 5/4 with less than 10pts. TY many more question arise on biding sequences :) Pedro
  20. TY Marlowe, Been trying to teach myself a bit of SAYC with some (few) gadgets from 2/1. Ty for the book recomendation I will try it... Pedro
  21. Hi Helen, I tryed but could not find much on this weak t/o can you explain it a bit futher please... TY. About systems ON/OFF, it's seems it lot in partnership agreement, I tend to play a lot SYSTEMS ON. So 1NT overcall systems ON, don't see the advantage of them being OFF, over 2♣ interferance systems ON (DBL stayman). Interresting to check other places here systems ON or OFF but perhaps other thread. TY Pedro
  22. Hi Marlowe, Well since I'm new to the game, I decide when starting to begin with newer methods, and not yet in the point I can study two or mmore methods to have the understanding of the what other are playing to change the way I play... I want to start by understanding what I'm playing, after that I could try and read about other methods modern or old <_< And yes I agree that whatever u should use u must understand the logic underneath, my problem here is that on a book that change my actual way to bid "SAYC based, with a few modified stuff" and I can in someway get confused and mix stuff up, and get to a point where I don't known a thing :) For instance one point arise right away to my mind, if you change your NT range to 16-18 does the 1NT response to a major opening changes ranges too? It must doesn't it. Thanks Pedro
  23. Hi All, I've made the order of the Commonsense Bidding and received it yesterday. I was exploring a few pages and checked some things that were not expecting specially on the NT opening 16-18 and no transfers. Has a beginner, I've been told for a lot of people that 16-18 and no transfers are the really old methods and that I should not learn them... Now I'm in doubt if I should return this book or just forget about NT bidding on this one, and if I decide to keep it how should I adapt this... I Hope I make myself understand on this question. TY Pedro
  24. Hi, I made a small utility to remove all commentaries if that helps. Pedro
