Hi All, I'm looking for a server "free" or not that permit us to create channels, this could be the place to hold the lessons from BIL or IAC and get rid once and for all of skype limitations and noises :P Can you please tell me where I can find the server, the most servers I see are for gamblers and that is a world I'm away from a long time and don't really understand... TY Pedro

Declarer play for this 1NT
PedroG replied to PedroG's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
Hi and TY, Phil you hit the nail in the head I think, I tryed the finesse on the Q♠ losing to the RHO, that knocks out my last ♥, so when I lose the minor ♣ I get overhelmed by the ♥ and the ♦... Pedro -
[hv=d=n&v=n&n=sk542ht8dt97cq743&s=sajt9hakdq863ck65]133|200|Scoring: IMP P-P-1NT-AllP[/hv] Hi all, Had a hard time on this declarer play, I have only 4 top winner and lot of work to make... West leads the 4♥ I see 2 extra tricks in spades after trying and losing or not the finesse. And probably a club after taking out the ace... My problem are the ♦ and the ♥ not really much of stoppers there and afraid opp's may attack there... What would be a good plan here... what should we try out first... If the finess on ♠ what opp would you try and put in the lead W or E? Ty all Pedro

I think the alternative is opening 2NT... Like someone told in the thread... Pedro

HI all and thank you... I was just thinking they were lucky on the layout, if you switch the heart and clubs, finding partner with... [hv=s=sj94h8432d74ckq65]133|100|[/hv] The answer to 1♦ is probably the same 1♥ and now the splinter may not permit a 3NT contract that make and move toward a 4H that has not a sinlge chance... Maybe with that weak H we would not bid them... but this I think that everyone will bid 1♥... [hv=s=sj94h8432d74ckq65]133|100|[/hv] Pedro

I understand that he has to create a forcing auction, and 1♠ isn't  Well on the other table opener resolved is problem opening 2NT that has flaws too :) I seem to recall a old post about bidding out strong 3 suiters... must make a search. Pedro

Hi All, Today watching some games from PAU, Italy vs Greece... And Greece splintered with a stiff A... O/Room Board 9 this has the hand and the bidding... [hv=d=n&v=e&w=sj943hkq82d4c6532&e=sakq2haj65dqj95ca]266|100|Scoring: IMP And this was the auction: (P)-1♦-(P)-1♥ (P)-4♣-(X)-4♥ AllPass[/hv] in Board 8 in the C/Room their team mates had splintered with a stiff K... I was with the impression that this wasn't a very good ideia to splinter with a stiff Ace... Any toughts?

I voted no... See no reason to make a simple raise even with a good doubleton... specially since my 1NT is forcing and the 2S rebid show a doubleton... Pedro

Hi from BWS 2001... Seems to be in the same wave than the SAYC Notes...
-
Not sure if standard, but at least what is in the ACBL SAYC notes... Pedro
-
Hi Han, I totally agree with you, I would have open this hand 1NT it seems the way the get less fuss on the rebids... Pedro
-
Would you consider upgrading to show a 3♠?

Hi All, Playing SAYC with a pickup partner... [hv=d=s&v=n&s=sat876hkq8dak7cj4]133|100|Scoring: IMP 1♠-P-2NT-P ?[/hv] What should be the correct rebid, how much is this hand worth (17 / 18)? Ty all Pedro

Hi, Why not a teaching table and then claim at the end... Pedro

Hi, Yes partner did well raising with 3 cards, and that fear or that possibility was what made me make the post in the first place... I may be choosing the wrong opp's hands, but all the time I'm making those spade contracts :) and most os the time also 1NT... look at the layout I've setup for you hand... Maybe I'm making opp's hands to benefit the spade contract, but I really made them random, and changed a bit to make east a decent overcall... [hv=n=sk85hat72djcat932&w=sa3h9863d6532c876&e=sqjt2hj4daqt87ckq&s=s9764hkq5dk94cj54]399|300|[/hv] <-Makeable contracts-> C D H S NT = = = = == N 3 - 2 2 1 S 3 - 2 2 1 E - 1 - - - W - 1 - - -

You think you're gonna make 4♠ with this, huh? I'll give you 5-1 odds that you're going down. Hi, Not having made great analisys, unfortunatlly last version of DEAL has not yet a build for windows... But I made a on the fly hand that made it, maybe it's the 1 part... Just out of curiosity I made my partner a even poor spade suit QJ85 AT2 J KQ932 Again I think it's a normal holding I would expect from partner. Pedro
-
TY all, And thanks for the answer, just to throw in a case for the 1♠... It's not impossible to find partner with AKJ8 AT2 J K9732 This has very good chance to make game in spades and not so good to play in NT. So if I bid NT and partner has a decent spade suit we might never get to find it. Pedro

Hi All, A hand from last night, I'm sitting in the south position: [hv=d=n&v=n&s=s9764hkq5dk94cj54]133|100|Scoring: IMP Partner open and RHO overcall's: 1♣-(1♦)-?[/hv] What would have been my best response in this position? At the table I decide to show my spades my partner think I should have bid NT. Ty All Pedro Gil

Helen, I've seen some good player's promote their balanced 14 with a 5card to 15 to open 1NT any recomendation not to do that also in the jump rebid of NT? TY Pedro
-
Hi, Well one solution to your problem was to originally open 1NT, if you didn't because too strong and considerd this a 18HCP (due to the 5 card suit) then rebid 2NT... Pedro

Hi P, Was this sub kibing the hand? Pedro Gil

Hi All, and first of all I need to thanks for BBO it's a great place to be and very good and intuitive software... AND it's free... The other day I was trying to pickup some players from my country and decide to use the filter for the country, but that also remove my friends from the other countries... Is there a way to filter the whole list to just one country but remain with all my friends listed? Ty Pedro Gil

Hi, I had more or less the same problem, when I registered a rule that I think is correct if not please correct me... 4NT is quantitative when partner has made a NT bid that limit his hand to a 3 HCP diference... http://www.cs.washington.edu/homes/ncherni...tions.html#q4nt Pedro
