  1. DT for me. Good aggressive lead, lol.
  2. that might be true fly, but what if the 4 card opening guaranteed another, usually longer, suit? 1c= 16+ if balanced, 17+ if a Major, 18+ if a minor oriented hand 1d= 5x4x; x54x; xx44+ 1h= 54xx; x45x; x4x4+ 1s= 45xx; 4x5x; 4xx4+ 1nt= 12-15 balanced, all 5332 and no 54xx hands 2c= all 3 suited hands 2d/h/s= all one suited hands, 6+ long and limited (11-16/17) 2nt= one suited club hands, 14-17 3c= the same but 11-14 Jimmy, 4-card will do well in uncontested auctions. However, in the competitive auctions, 5-card major will have some advantage over 4-card major. Of course, 5-card major has its flaws. My point is that to say precision has a fundemental flaw is too exaggerate to say the least.
  3. This hand is not very good in the sense of the card quality. But still 3C is a bit underbid. Dbl shows you can dbl one of opp's suit. I think you should at least try for a game. I will bid 3H. This shows stopper and limit plus raise.
  4. I understand your point. However, this logic applies to most system. If you open 4-card major then there are other problems. If you play standard or 2/1, there is still problem. Both minor openings are semi-neublus. All one level openings are extremely unlimited. Those 16-18 vs 7-9 hands are hard to bid game. No system is perfect. The only problem is which tradeoff you are willing to take. Precision is by far one of the most successful systems in competitive bridge. I dont think a system with a fundemental flaw could acheive such success.
  5. Ron, can you explain why this is so? My impression is that this is the advantage of precision. People talk abou the flaw of precision in 2C, 2D opening. I have never heard of this claim before.
  6. With the first hand, I think it is enoguh to raise to 3M. With second and thrid hand I just bid game. Slam is unlikely I think. Even I miss it I dont mind that much.
  7. I think in standard treatment is that none of them is forcing. I would bid 4H with that hand. IN competitive auction, partscore is the main goal, game is occasional, slam is unlikely. If you have a strong game force hand, you need to cue after double. Most of time, I think it is not a bad idea to bid what you thinnk you can make.
  8. Why do you think they can make 5S? What is the sign for that? I think leaping to 5H is... Anyway, holding pd's hand, I will raise to 6H,thinking that 5H is asking for S control.
  9. That is cute I must say, though you need an imaginative opp.
  10. Lead small from A8xx to Qxxx. Seems I have to play one of opps for Kx.
  11. The double of 1N is discussing point. I am not sure it is, or should be, penalty. Opener could have some 3145 intermediate hand.
  12. I think it is better to pass with this hand. Pd can easily cash four tricks while 4S goes down one or two.
  13. Penalty. Enough T/O for me, hehe.
  14. I think here 3H is a well-thought call. If pd has no support, then presumally you can ruff your heart loser in dummy by bidding 6C. If pd can raise hearts you can play some number of hearts. I think I will be happy with 6 most of the time.
  15. that's not true, give your partner SAKQJx HAx Dxxx Cxxx, do you have good play in 6S? or Even SAKQJx HAxx Dxx Cxxx, do you really like your chance in 6S? Or SKQJTx HAx DQxxx xx, do you have any play in 6S? Actually, if you really want to splinter 4H, the next bid can't be 5S, it should be 5H to show your void in hearts, now partner knows you have both minor suits controlled, void in hearts, but not strong enough to ERKC dirrectly, he would then re-evaluate his hand and draw the correct conclusion. I doubt pd would have one of those hands given by you when he bid 4S. 4H promises short only, if pd has HA he may not devaluate it. On the other hand. Pd rates to have long heart in this sequence. Of course, there are hands where we might not have slam. But you wont pass 4H, would you? There is no perfect bid here. If you start with 2H, or 3H, or whatever, if LHO rates to 4H and pd double it. What do you do? You still have problem. On the other hand, I think 5H is a good choice. Did I say what I would like to bid over 1S here? I am just saying that 4H followed by 5S can't be right for this hand, because 5H over 4H is clearly a better bid for this hand. What's the difference between 5H and 5S? 5H shows void in hearts and 5S doesn't. Also, it's just doesn't make sense to me that your claim of 5S as asking for trump suit quality. It doesn't make sense, because if you only care about trump quality and nothing else, why don't you just bid 5S directly over 1S? Why do you give extra information to opps? 5S here can't be simply asking for trump quality, it also asks for the overall playing strength and 5H serves the same purpose and it just tells your void in hearts. 5S to ask for trump quality is one of the most widely abused bids, even by some pretty good players. Actually it applies only in some very rare situations I believe. You cannot bid 5S directly over 2H because if you bid 5S after 2H, pd will go to 6S with H control. Isnt 5S asking for heart control over 2H?
  16. that's not true, give your partner SAKQJx HAx Dxxx Cxxx, do you have good play in 6S? or Even SAKQJx HAxx Dxx Cxxx, do you really like your chance in 6S? 17. I personnally think here 4H is the right bid. If you start with 2N, you still dont know what to do. After 4H, 5S really tells your story perfectly. You have a great hand, you have everthing under control, ur only concern is the trump quality.
  18. start with 2N, then rebid H, hope pd can understand me. This might not work though.
  19. This is the point! NO choice really, have to stick with what you have done. At least you are consistent with urself:)
  20. I think 5S is best. It must be asking for trump quality, as there are two side suits unbid.
  21. Since you said 3D-3H is forcing. I think 4H is cue. Clearly ur running from 3N is wrong. Why cannot pd have DAKx? It is possible. Now I take 4H as cue and I will bid 4S. Of course I can be very wrong but since you pulled from 3N to 4D, you must assume 3N is wrong and you are right. Even if you can make 5D, it will score less than 3N. So I think you should try slam. Bidding 6D after 4H might not be a bad idea.
  22. Nice line of play. But tell it your partner when diamonds were 3-3 and west had ♣K... This is certainly not 100%. However i think it is better than other line, due to entry and communication problem you can only sqz west if there is one.
  23. I think the current name is quite appropriate. If you want to change, change the sayc and 2/1 board to natural system. Acol apparently belongs to there.:)
  24. I think it is right to play RHO for Jx.
