  1. I think if playing NFB then 2s can be passed. Why else play it. This means a game force hand would have to start with cue bid or neg x and new suit rebid. NFB is a convention. without discussion with a new pd 2S has to be F1.
  2. u r right, i misread it. thx for correcting me.
  3. Ben, I think without discussion, the default treatment is 2S is F1 so it is the bid. I will plan to rebid 4D. The problem with this is LHO might come in with 5D and pass to me. I may regret then. At the moment I will stick with 2S.
  4. Double is fine if you play it as asking pd to lead the lowest rank of the remaing unbid suit. I think this is Lawrence's suggestion. Playing it as leading the suit being cued is indeed not very useful.
  5. Definitely I will pull. At least my club suit is good.
  6. No, I think 5H asks for spade control.
  7. I think I will bid 5D in IMPs. I am not worrying too much about hearts, but clubs. Of course, it depends on the exact meaning of 3D. Does it promise a good suit?
  8. I think you more or less show ur strength by cuebid 3S. After pd's 4H I think you should pass.
  9. Against these players, you have more than one way to win. System wont be that important.
  10. I think it is good time to lead 5th here, trying to mislead the declarer.
  11. Vul.: NS sitting south, you hold: S: K982 H: KQT2 D: JX C: KQX W N E S ---------1C 3H X P ? what do you do?
  12. 5D is the safest action I think. If u dbl, pd rates to pass.
  13. I like 5S. Pd jumped shift. He should have SKQ, DAKJ and at least one of HK and CA.
  14. No matter what u do, you CANNOT rebid 2s with this hand. you will miss too many games.
  15. I would bid 3NT Agree. Throw science out of my window.
  16. Lol, Ben, the fact you rebid 2S now shows it is not a proud 1S bid.
  17. I think this is GF, especially if 1S is not forcing. So it is better to play 2S as GF. Some play 1S as forcing, in this case, perhaps 2S can be some kind of picture bidding.
  18. Am I? What is the best countermeasure if playing polish club against the 1S overcall by the way? I tend to think Hamman's way to handle it is good one, i.e. cuebid is natural. There are not many hands you cannot cope without cue. If you want pd to bid NT, start with dbl will do the job.
  19. Free, is this really a fact? While you dont need to discard a possibly useful high card to encourage, you may cause blockage in the suit:) My opinion is that both are basically equivalent. It is rare that the result is determined by your singal. Judgement and logical analysis are far more important.
  20. After 3N, there is not much you can do. Pd will correct ur 4H to 4S. So you will never end up in 4H once you start with 1S. As for what should be opened, I have sympathy with 1S. NOw you gave out the full hand and it is hard to say. Many would say they will open 1H. I think it is close. If you open 1H, they you may have to hide your spade suit.
  21. In precision, you can play 2S as natural to cater for possible psych. This is what Hamman does I tihnk.
  22. Depends on the meaning of dbl. I think you have to pass here. If you bid 2S, pd will take it as a good raise of club.
  23. I vote for 2N. Pd could bid 2N without 4 hearts. He didnt do it either because he has 6+ spades or he has 4clubs but min hand. He has no 4 hearts for sure. So I think 2N is best. After 2N, if pd has 5422 he can raise to 3N. If he has 6 spades, he can rebid 3C, 3D or 3S depending on the shape and I will should my good doubleton support.
