  1. I pass. If pd dbl again, I probably will pass again, though vul. would affect my decision.
  2. Jimmy, I think dbl here shows 4-4 majors.
  3. No, pass has more than one way to win. 2N shows limit+, they may stop at 3S. Pd could be strong, opp may bid 4S and and pd may defeat it alone. 5Hx may go down three. By bidding 5H, the only time you gain is, they bid and make 4s, and 5h goes down only two, AND they and we all make right decision.
  4. So you put all eggs in one basket.
  5. agree. should pass second time with such a dead min.
  6. No. Perfect responsive dbl, showing both majors.
  7. Perhaps 3N, though I am risking to miss a not impossible slam. The problem with opening 1D is that I dont have an ideal rebid after pd's 1M.
  8. 3N bid is just plainly wrong in my opinion. The final contract is right doesnt mean the bid is right. After 2C, pd will raise to 3C/4C. You can bid 3N/5C.
  9. I think the question "what do you need for 3D" is more difficult than the question "what do you need for 3N". The answer to the 2nd question is pretty much like whereagles's answer, sth you think u can make 3N, which presumably should include good fit for pd's suit and expect it to run, though I dont expect such a good hand as he gave.
  10. I pass. I have no mood for sacrifice with equal vul.
  11. Regarding DAJ9x, I personnally dont think it is a minus, I actually quite like it. If it is KJ9x, then i agree it could be a minus.
  12. 2♣ doesn't show extras in my book. Well, more clubs and a good suit of course, but not as far as high cards are concerned. This is a 2♣ rebid for me with or without intervention: Axx x xxx KQJxxx If I pass this hand now, my clubs could just as well be xxx, or even xx if 1♣ doesn't promise more than two cards. I have a clear message to give my partner with this hand. As I pointed out earlier, the only thing I don't like about the hand pclayton posts is ♦AJ9x after LHO overcalled diamonds. Nevertheless, I am inclined to bid 3♣. Roland I actually think it is quite close between 2C and 3C. The only question presuaded me to 2C is, if pd has 8-10 and doubleton club, would he pass my 2C? I dont think so. Pd will raise to 3C. In that case I can bid 3N happily. If pd has singelton club, then pd will bid 3N if you jump to 3C, but pass if you bid 2C. I think we will never miss a game if pd could not move over 2C. In sum, 2C has much to gain but little to lose.
  13. 2C, volunterrily rebid should show more than min. If we have a game, it must be 3N or 5C. If pd cannot move over 2C I dont think we will miss anything.
  14. *hog agrees with me?* *shock* *faint* :) Something must be wrong,
  15. 2S is definitely wrong. It only shows a min overcall hand. But this hand is Too good for 2S. 3S is wrong in distorting the shape. Choices are among 2H and 3D. 2H is more economic and is my choice. I think 3D is acceptable.
  16. It should show a hand with club fit and spade control, and slam interest. I guess pd is looking for slam but consulting your opinion. After all, 2C guaranteed nothing and 2N promised only a stopper. How about A,AKQx,QJT,AKTxx?
  17. What about: 1D-p-1NT-p-p-? What do you do now ? Good time to dbl for blood. You know all cards are misplaced for the declarer.
  18. Only if you explicitly agreed with pd to play it as t/o. Without discussion it should be for penalty.
  19. 3C=or +1 is no better than +200.:) I doubt anyone can find 4H in the context.
  20. Just a question to the other folks here: why discard completely an offshape t/o double ? I am puzzled by the fact that noone considered it. Let me try to list, in my view, the pros and cons of doubling with this hand: CONS A double is misdescriptive in term of honors location: it tends to suggest few values in opps suit and support in all others. Pard may bid clubs and we'll not be happy PROS - My pard will strive ASAP to bid a major: if he bids clubs he is very likely to have 5 cards. - The higher the hcp content, the more it is reasonable to double offshape; as Mike Lawrence says, you cannot always wait for a 4441 short in opps suit to make a t/o double; here we have 14 hcp, a non minimum opener, of which 11 GOOD hcp are in unbid suits, so I'd prefer to stretch for a t/o double rather than stretching for a 1NT overcall; - Yes, doubling is dangerous, but, in my opinion: .......- it is less dangerous than bidding 1NT .......- if one (like me) has agreed with pard aggressive preemptive raise of 1M overcalls, bidding 1H might be easily raised preemptively to a level to high for such a balanced hand; I would love some comments on the above points by the BBF "gurus" :) I am not a guru, but will give it a try.:) It is fine to dbl with one dismerit, not two. Here there are too many minues with dbl. You have waste in Diamond, short s and c. More important, there are better alternatives. I really dont like 1H, DQJxx is really NT oriented. If D is Axxx,or Axxxx, I would overcall 1H. Here if I overcall 1H and pd raises to 2H, opp may take many tricks by crossruff. I like 1N/pass as other posters do. If you think 1N is dangerous, then pass is perfectly ok. Pd, if have sth, will always reopen given he is likely short in diamond. One thing we dont neet to worry is that if we have a game we will never miss it.
  21. Dummy is lack of entry to establish club and get time to discard spade, so I will play my hand. Is opening leader leading singleton DQ? If that is the case then he rates to have long (relatively) heart, in that case I dont think I can make it. So I will play the simple game, cashing two rounds DAK, then D8, discard s from dummy whatever LHO plays on it.
  22. I also like 3N. But I would never try 4H.
