  1. Dark brown/black I guess.
  2. Yay, I was afraid I would be tossed into the fire for opening 1NT.
  3. As I understand, 3C is stayman, 4N is quantitative, denying the shown major and offering to play slam in the other major or 6N. To begin a slam try and agreeing with 2N opener's major, I begin by bidding the other major since it is an idle bid. 2N - 3C 3H - 3S becomes a general slam try for hearts, and 2N - 3C 3S - 4H becomes a general slam try for spades. I don't know if this is good, bad, common, or anything, but I'm fairly certain that 2N - 3C - 3M - 4N is still quant.
  4. This looks like a completely automatic 1H. My suit is bad, but my values make up for it, isn't this standard?
  5. So leading your top honors in reverse order and then shifting shows a stiff?
  6. But if I cue 3♠, partner cues 4♦ and now I have to cue clubs at the 5 level
  7. Why does 4♣ bid deny spade control? If partner wants to show both black suit controls, it would actually be cheaper to cue clubs first.
  8. Wow, north sure bid a lot......... (edit: never mind, I didn't really think as I typed that) And EW sure took their sweet time crawling to 4H
  9. Would've played this at the table without much thought, but thanks to Roland's warning... If trumps are 4-0, then we have to cash the SK from dummy first to retain a finesse position over the JTx with East.
  10. I don't see why my xx causes confusion. I tell partner that I don't have primary support.
  11. I agree with xx with the above hand. I have no particular interest in declaring spades, and we may pick up a juicy penalty.
  12. Every time I read GOP, I thought he was talking about Republicans. And back to the topic, lol the hand is 5-5, I thought it was 6-5.
  13. Dude thanks, I seriously couldn't figure out what GOP meant. These acronyms make my head spin.
  14. Actually I saw that mentioned on Mike Develin's blog; I believe he called it one of his favorite gadgets. The purpose is to conceal opener's major suit holding, so the defense have a tougher time. Apparently it really came through for them, as 3NT at all the other tables went down because of a different lead from the normal stayman auction. All this is paraphrased, I'll go double check his post later.
  15. Yes. I have 2 doubletons in the minors, I don't think this hand warrants a 3♥ bid.
  16. I think it's a fine answer :) What are some common agreements? I honestly can't think of any others aside from "I have some values here pard."
  17. If 3D is fitted, then it is not so clear :)
  18. Also, I imagine it's a bit different between 2♥ - 2♠ and 2♥ - 3♦ Can someone give a good summary, or link me to a good resource?
  19. If you're playing RONF, what do you rebid when partner bids a new suit, you don't have support, but you have a max? This seems rather important to know, and I'm surprised I've waited this long before asking.
  20. Ow ow ow ow ow I guess I pass. Third seat, okay, MAYBE I'll buy a psyche, first seat isn't exactly the classic psyche position...
