  1. 1♣-1M-2♣ But it's close to 1♣-1M-2♦. I might do that if partner bids the Major where I hold the J.
  2. Also looking for the clubs rebid option. Maybe I'll take the clubs-diamonds option, for I hate the diamonds-club one.
  3. I join the 4♠ camp. I have the ♥K, the doubleton ♦Q and 4 trumps, what else do I need!? Edit: I gotta start checking the whole topic before answering. I think partner's bidding is flawed, either he has to pass the X, bid 3♠, open 1♦, or not open at all. It's also my fault for not having an ace...
  4. I bid 4♥. Slightly better than passing and then bidding 4♥.
  5. That's probably what happened: Galicians threated Paul and there you have it! First final for Spain!
  6. All red, MP's: ♠J ♥J9xx ♦AQTxx ♣9xx 1NT-3♠-X-Pa 4♣-Pa-??? How do you rate the double? What would you do now?
  7. So, only Cherdanno can beat Mich-b Germany for saturday, Spain for Sunday.
  8. I think the problem lies in that several hands are opened with a very low HCP level and if you find yourself in 1♠-2♥-3♦ with 10 HCP's in front of 13 HCP's and no fit, then things get ugly. The concept of 'catch-all' pretty much helps with this problem, I think.
  9. I thought maybe no side could make anything and then I dealmaster'd it. 8 tricks for E/W in any denomination. Nice hand.
  10. They have the Majors and the HCP's, why would I want to enter the bidding and push them to game?
  11. You hold: ♠AT9xx ♥8 ♦AQ87x ♣J9 1♠-2♥ ??? Is 3♦ normal and wtp? Is 2♠ (catch-all) better?
  12. All red, you hold: ♠Qx ♥K9xx ♦KJxxx ♣Jx Your in second seat and it goes: Pa-Pa-Pa-1♠ Pa-1NT-Pa-2♠ Pa-??? 1NT was semi-forcing.
  13. What would 3♥ mean here? Would you bid that? Is 3♠ better? Is 3NT better? We have AKQ in clubs so partner almost surely doesn't have that stopper...
  14. After: 1♠-2NT 3♠-4♦ 4NT-5♦ 5♥-5NT 6♠ (That was my partner) 6♣ should ask for a third round control of the club suit (since 5NT denied extra kings), and then 7♠ is bid. 6♠-7♠ (Why is partner asking for the queen and then stopping when I give it? Since he bid 3♠ he doesn't have a minimum hand therefore the grand is bid) After: 1♠-4♣ 4NT!-5♦ 7♠!
  15. How do you propose to reach 7 with: ♠KTxxxx ♥KQ ♦xx ♣AKx
  16. a flying skate for me, please.
  17. All white, you deal and get: ♠Tx ♥Txxxx ♦9xx ♣AKQ Pa-Pa-1♦-Pa 1♥-Pa-3♦-Pa ? What are your options? Which do you take? Why?
  18. All red, LHO deals and passes, your partner opens 1♠, RHO passes and you hold: ♠AQJx ♥Axx ♦Axx ♣Qxx You can 2NT (13+ with 4-card support), 4♣ 3-card support ultra balanced 16-17 or some other you fancy, what will it be? There'll be a continuation after some answers.
  19. There seems to be two paths: 1. Heart to the Queen and ruff two hearts, expenting the suit to be 4-3 and the King onside. 2. Heart to the Ace and ruff two hearts, expecting the King to be third. I'll try the first one because of the vulnerable double, although the second one seems easier (?).
  20. Even if we have a fit the hand might be a little awkward to handle. I wouldn't bid 3♦ but I'd love to double (which means I want to penalize one of the suits) so that partner knows I have 'something'.
