  1. 4♠ didn't make on the original hand as spades were 5-1.
  2. Hm. I'd win the ♦A very early, draw trumps, discard clubs on the hearts and ruff a club in dummy exiting qith a diamond... Do I get a ruff'n'sluff? I guess opener shouldn't rush things, 6♠ could wait a little.
  3. There might have been operator's errors in this one, but they can be checked. So if you opened 1NT make sure you complainand your auction should be checked.
  4. The first double by West? I blame North for not showing his second suit and for getting partner to a 5 lvl game with a void (though I know it can be right at times) Edit: I didn't quite realize North can't bid his second suit naturally, but I still blame him the most.
  5. So the bidding went: Pa-Pa-Pa-Pa 1♥-Pa-2♣-Pa 2♦-Pa-2♥ That way the 2♦ bidder passed originally. Perfectly clear.

    Good bid!

I'm amazed that ACBLand allows people to shuffle boards in that kind of tournament. IMO what happened is that he prepared the cards but what is more amazing is that he didn't even made up some kind of 'story' to back up the fancy contract. I think it's amazing 'cause it means that he knows he can get away with it or even, he has gotten away with it before. Of course he lost but I wonder how many non-Jlall's have suffered and lost to this player, I hope Jlall's action end up in something.
  7. it is: 1♦-(p)-3♣-(X)- ? See description of 3♣: 3♣ could be weak or a mixed raise of diamonds (shows clubs and diamonds support 10-12 HCP) or even strong. It couldn't have this meaning in your auction. (although if it really means what he says, it's kinda silly, imo). No, whoever described 3♣ (which is not a description of the bid but of some of the meanings you could attach to it) is not the same person/nick that did the topic.
  8. Maybe it was: 1♦-3♣-X-Pa In which case the hand becomes a real problem. 3♠ or 3NT seem possibilities but Pass can also be right.
  9. Ok then: Millenium Falcon Death Star Heart of Gold (Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy) Enterprise X-wing
  10. Millenium Falcon /end topic
  11. I was expecting most people to open the East hand. I wondered what those with the West cards thoughts after Pass-Pass-Pass, not a common situation at all.
  12. It says 3♣ if neccessary. I wondered why so many pairs bid 4♥ over their partner's sign-off in 3♥...
  13. I simulated North having 6+ diamonds and 4 spades at most and South having 6+ hearts and 4 spades at most and 5♣ made 62% of the time. ♠KQ on side, non-trump lead or non-trump return, singleton ♣J are some of the things that should give 5♣ its best contract status.
  14. I believe the reason for most people getting this one right is that it is not a secret anymore how to deal with Multi.
  15. Scores are calculated as if EACH pair had played in a 13-table tournament. Getting to an awesome but yet almost impossible to bid contract gets you 12, so a most normal contract will get you a 10. The rightsiding of the contract is the most important thing in this hand. I believe that after P-P-1♣-1♥-P-P West should bid 2♠.
  16. I think 5♣ is a great contract and was always expecting it to get the highest grade. I do believe the part-cores in club deserve 1 or 2 MP's more.
  17. 'twas supposed tobe today but Inquiry is in NO and 4 o5 pairs haven't gone through.
  18. Are there many sequences or plays where you'd know 12 cards from opponents before committing to play this suit?
  19. I thought either Pass or 5♣. I don't want them finding a spade fit (in which case partner has 6♥'s?) or game in a Major.
  20. I'd bid 2NT and most of my partners would understand it as natural.
  21. Say you double an opening bid of 1♣, how can you continue after partner bids a suit at minimum level: 1♣-X-Pa-1♥ Pa-??? When 1♠ and 2♦ are natural 17+ (no ELC), how forcing are they? What would 2♥, 3♥ and 4♥ mean? What would 2♣, 3♣ and 4♣ mean? How about jumping in ♠ or ♦? Holding a hand where you have game for certain in one of the unbid suits what would you bid? If you need just a little for slam, for example.
  22. I can and bid 4♣. Edit: No, I don't. 4♣ should be a small card, maybe 4♦ is better.
  23. What is homebase club and why did it go silent?
