  1. Apparently both players need to be using the program instead of the browser version, can you do that? When?
  2. The lawyer made this up, Reese and Shapiro always maintained their innocence. Bill That's a possibility but I wonder why would someone of his age would make something like that up.
  3. I have not been particularly attentive to the world for bridge for the past few years, but this is something that I think would have been widely reported if it were true. This is the first I have heard of it. In fact, I vaguely recall there being some mention of disappointment that there was no statement left to be read after Schapiro's death. For what it is worth, Schapiro's wikipedia entry makes no mention of a posthumous admission. As I mentioned a lawyer said it. Maybe it wasn't official but the bulletin where it can be found on the internet (maybe could have been found) had the statement and, if I'm not mistaken, Truscott's reaction.
  4. I've only heard about heart length. And the last thing I knew about this matter is that after the death of Schapiro a lawyer said they acknowledged cheating but only to prove that it could be done.
  5. Partner had: KTx Qx AQTxxx AK I think 2NT wasn't bad. 3♠ would have been a better contract though.
  6. If I didn't know you're in an island away from civilization I'd say you were at that table. I bid 3♣ and partner bid 3♦, but I chickened out and passed.
  7. Yesterday I held: ♠Q9xxx ♥T8xx ♦3 ♣Qxx It went: 1♣-1♦-2♣-Pa Pa-2NT-Pa-??? Is pass the best I could do?
  8. 2♣-2♦ 3♥-5♥ 7♥ Where 3♥ shows 4♥'s and 5♦'s or +. 5♥ of course is a bit too much, maybe 4♥-4NT and then 7♥ after finding partner holds the ♥Q. Of course if West opens 3♣, especially after partner passes initially, you can just jump to 7♥.
  9. Once I overcalled in NT without a stopper in the opponent's suit.
  10. It is my opinion that round 2 should take at least another week. Maybe even a couple more. Maybe Round three could be made shorter?

    Good bid!

haha, good one fluffy :D also, I never realised there was so much pent-up drama and personal vendettas on BBF until I read this thread. Isn't bridge just a game any more? When was bridge just a game? When was the internet not serious business?
  12. 60-40, North and South. North cue-bids twice and South bids 2 suits (which I would take as not showing a weak hand) and 4♦ is bid and passed? Wrong.
  13. I don't think I'd do it. It doesn't seem appropriate. It's a little like watching opponent's hidden cards. Very misleading but in a 'physical' way, not mentally.

Also the US Congress ruled on this question.

I see you haven't been to Merida, Venezuela, where a guy has an ice-cream shop that has come up with over 1000 flavors. I tried French Fries and Rose. Nice stuff.
  16. I guess I choose Pass and 3♠. But that's just beacuse I can 'see' the future, IRL I'd bid 3♠ at the first opportunity.
  17. Congrats to Fred and co. I was watching the second match where Fred made 4♥x, great play by Fred and also great by his teammates not doubling and defeating. I also thought they were gonna win easily, I'll have to watch the come-back of the third quarter.
  18. 4♣, it means you have support for the Major, game values and good clubs.
  19. If you use Bergen raises, 3NT is 3-card support with a very balanced hand (4333 but some may do it with 4432) and all the suits stopped. Partner can pass or go forward.
  20. X & 4♣ over 3♠. I'd love to bid 3NT but I probably lost any chance after not opening 2NT, though I don't regret it much.
  21. 2♠. More than half your opening is concentrated in the suit partner rates to have 5 cards in, why not?
  22. If opening 1NT meant no competition from N/S after 2♥, then Cascade/kermit and East4Evil/sohcahtoa deserve a 2♥ note, as I bid 2♠ over their sign-off.
  23. Don't people avoid leading a trump with singleton?
