  2. [hv=pc=n&s=shkqt974daqj63cq7&n=sj872ha6dt754cat3&d=s&v=n&b=15&a=1h5cd5s6dppdppp]266|200[/hv] A small club is led to the 3, 9 and Q. How do you play the trumps? Would you have bid differently? Should North go back to hearts instead of passing 6♦?
  3. [hv=pc=n&s=sjt8ha4dak94ck865&n=sa652hktdj872ca92&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=p1n(13-15)p2cp2dp3nppp]266|200[/hv] ♥6 is led. Teams.
  4. South and North. South pushed it too much on the first one. North was afraid 2♥ would be a reverse, but he had already limited his hand with 2♣, so I don't think it would have been a problem.
  5. C'mon, Oscar Wilde killed it a long time ago.
  6. I've seen the same several times in Venezuela. Are the boards dealt by a machine? Pre-dealt by a computer? I have set up boards when I direct (and seen others do it, too) but it's not usual.
  7. N-S use a Big Club auction to get to 6♠. Before the final Pass East asks about the bidding and is told (among other things) that declarer showed a diamond control. West leads a heart and the contract is made. A diamond lead would have set the contract. E-W complain, the Director asks for the CC of N-S; he can't find (it's not there) the proper explanation for the sequence. 1- Can the Director change the result to down one based on the fact that there was a mistaken explanation? 2- Can the Director change the result to down one based on the fact that an artificial bid can't be psyched? 3- How should the Director rule in such a case? Are there important facts missing?
  8. As gwnn said partner would have supported spades if it had been bid on the second round with no problem.
  9. I'd double after checking the back of my cards and RHO's.
  10. What if it came: 4♦-Pa-Pa-X Pa-4♥-Pa-??? Shall East pass? Wouldn't 4♥ be standard with 4-4 in the Majors? But also with the Majors reversed in the actual hand?
  11. Partner held: ♠K ♥Q98x ♦Kxxx ♣T8xx She passed 4♦ but it was her first tournament (4NT wasn't available). Is game biddable after a 4♦ balancing action?
  12. Over G3N I'd bid 4♣, over 5♦ I'd Pass. Over 4♦ I'm torn between passing and bidding 5♣.
  13. Is this an irony? I pass. I believe this is the best contract we can play in.
  14. Both red, imp pairs: ♠Tx ♥T ♦AQJT4 ♣AQJ72 3♠-Pa-Pa-???
  15. [hv=pc=n&w=sk98765hj5432dkck&e=saq43haqdq5caj975&d=s&v=e&b=3&a=4d]266|200[/hv] How would you bid these hands? Is slam worth pursuing? What if the opening bid was 5♦?
  16. ♠J7xxx ♥A9 ♦QJ ♣KJxx All white: 1♣-X-Pa-??? 2♠? 2♣?
  17. I remember a player taking a lot of time to pass on a competitive auction where his opponents had reached game and then telling his partner she couldn't bid because he had taken a lot of time and passed. I think you cannot judge a player from one isolated case but if the player is known to behave in this manner then he's very close to being guilty.
  18. I think Pass is fine. I wonder why partner didn't bid 5♣ before? Maybe his hand is too strong? Maybe our ♦K is all he needs for 6? Hopefully someone with a better idea of what's going on can enlighten us, but I'd Pass here.
  19. I already bid my hand, why would I say anything other than Pass?
  20. I think re-opening is called for in this sequence and especially with this hand. If opener had been the dealer then Pass would be a possibility for we'd fear responder could have passed with a strong hand, but in this case we know the bidding wasn't opened until third seat had his turn and he opened at the three level (weak). I think double is a must.
  21. Being imp's I could try 3♠, but I really don't like my singleton. If spades and hearts were reversed I'd feel better about it.
  22. 3♦ seems enough for the moment.
  23. 1: Any 12+ HCP's: unbalanced, that have at least a 4-card Major if balanced, or that lack a ♦ stopper if balanced with no Major. 2: I'd say they're forced to game but I bet hands could be construed where theey stop at 4♣ or a 4-3 fit in a Major. 3: Minimum hands: 10 to some 12's. 4: You got me there. Hands with something (Hxx or better) in Diamonds? Hands with NOTHING (singleton or void) in Diamonds? Balanced hands with 13+? I suppose the later makes more sense. 5: 13+ and 4+ hearts. 6: 13+ and 4+ spades, not 4 hearts (unles 5-4). 7: ... 16: That there are way too many things that have to be agreed upon in order to communicate well with partner?
  24. I'd prefer diamonds and spades to be reversed in order to bid on, but I'm not passing with AKxx (more than half my opening) in partner's suit.
