  1. Well I'll stick with my misinterpretation and avoid trying to con the opponents in this situation. I'll keep my normal tempo.
  2. (74) C. Violations of Procedure The following are considered violations of procedure: . . . 7. varying the normal tempo of bidding or play for the purpose of disconcerting an opponent. Conduct and etiquette are part of the Laws.
  3. Since we think partner has no running suit (unless hearts), we should move on this, close though it is.
  4. Standard? Still seems quite clever to me.
  5. I voted 3C. Thankfully I seem to be on the same planet as potential partners.
  6. 7H on both. I've got an extra heart. Have to say I admire the precision of these methods.
  7. Suit, rank and colour. If I feel paranoid about the oppos, then suit and colour.
  8. I'm mildly surprised by the size of the majority. My hand seems as good in spades as it's reasonable to expect on the auction, and decent hearts and spade honours seems a fair probability from partner for his four spades. It's not a surpise I have one of the top two heart honours, but I am the player in possession of the good news that I do in fact have that top honour.
  9. I wouldn't pass with King of hearts and this hand. I don't buy partner converting with some Txx of spades.
  10. Ace of diamonds. Confident slam bidding with one ace, it seems. If he doesn't have good clubs and fitting spades, I've misjudged. Otherwise this is our only chance.
  11. I'd win the heart and lead a small spade to the Jack.
  12. I'd bid 2H. For me double wouldn't emphasise hearts enough.
  13. I like 3D because it takes away three diamonds as a cue bid. But certainly I'm bidding diamonds.
  14. I would like to see this hand. A lot of good players are going for 3NT when I'd expect to be two off opposite a reasonable double from partner, with +500 on against three hearts. I need some evidence to change my evaluation.
  15. Double is my choice. Extra values that don't promise a club honour, and do imply some hearts.
  16. If you take the spade ace at trick one, you mostly just go off. If you play the Jack at trick one, you make the opponents think and work for their result, always a good thing to do.
  17. If I hold up the spade, I have a legitimate chance of making when East has doubleton spade, Kxx of hearts and Qxx of clubs. I'm going to try for that.
  18. I think at Pairs this auction has gone quite well from my perspective, giving me a chance to make a good score by passing. My cards look well placed.
  19. Double. With a void club I can see that other approaches might work better, but still double it is.
  20. 4D now , and 5D if partner signs off (I don't need a heart stop for slam). The questions for me are: Can we can make seven, for example: KQxx Axx(x) Qxx Ax(x) Can we make six: KQxx Kxxx Qxx AKx Can we only make five: KQxx AKQx Qxx xx
  21. Wouldn't occur to me to pass. I would probably bid five clubs.
  22. Will you feel better if everyone but you agrees it was the wrong bid but you made it anyway? Everyone? If I make 6NT and partner had what I thought he had, then I don't care what a few other people thought. If partner's hand is completely different and I make a 10% slam, then I am not impressed by my success.
  23. Is it such a big deal? You express interest by entering and see how it goes. What is all the angst and excitement. Personally I'm an extremist. Winners are the sort of people who win. Forget trials. Pick the winners of the major tournament(s).
  24. So many of these posts we rabbit away and never find out what the hand was. I want to know if I made my 6NT.
  25. 4H to play. 4NT natural and invitational. 6NT accept. Maybe partner is saying that Hearts is all he has, but AKQJxx.
