  1. Clear 4♥ IMO; 4 trumps, useful doubleton and a working king.
  2. Drury and lebensohl would be very high on my list.
  3. This depends entirely on agreements. With some 3♦ is GF, 2NT (11)13-14 balanced and 2♠ a catch-all. I've played 2♠ as catch-all, 2NT as GF with support and 3♦ as min with support. And I've even played that 2♠ promised 6 with 2NT a catch-all - a method I'd say is unplayable. These methods can apply both in a 2/1 GF context and 2/1 10+. Without agreements I'd expect the normal bid here to be 3♦. But in several environments that would be GF udiscussed.
  4. Depens on who you ask. :) To me it strongly suggest 5.
  5. Me too. My experience is that opps (far) more often than not finds the club lead if I just blast slam.
  6. You could have supported directly with 2♥ competitive or 2♠ inv+ with 3-card support. So this should be forcing. Se also Han's comment above. Sure 3NT is also possible, but I prefer to let partner participate in the decision.
  7. Playing Landy I'd start with 2♣, planning to rebid 3♦.
  8. I expect them to make 4♠, but it might be close. 5♦ will normally cost me -500, which means I only gain 3 (or 4) IMPs vs 620 (or 650). Some will probably concede -790 or -990 too. But some part of the time they will go down where we're -300/-500 in 5♦. Basically I think I'll go slightly plus in the long run passing here.
  9. Why not - he's swedish? :D
  10. Even playing Leaping Michaels, it's wrong on this hand. This is a 3-suiter, and the way to show it is by a t/o double.
  11. As living in a country with an official State Church (i'm a Humanist myself, but that doesn't affect my standpoint I believe), I strongly agree with this.
  12. LOL, that bunch was: David BURN, Brian CALLAGHAN, Joe FAWCETT , Gunnar HALLBERG, Glyn LIGGINS, Colin SIMPSON, David BAKHSHI (coach) and John WILLIAMS (npc). Such modesty - or is this some kind of english humour?
  13. 1) Disagree with the 2nd pass. Obvious 1NT IMO. 2) 4♥
  14. 3♥. I'd normally have bid 2♠ with inv+ and 3-card support. So partner shouldn't expect more than Hx. Over 3♠ from partner I rebid 3NT.
  15. I'd have overcalled 1♥ initially, as others. Now I bid 3♦.
  16. You might decide to play for him to have ATxxx Axx xx Jxx then. Declarer cannot have this hand as a 1S overcall is obvious on that hand. I would also cash H to see if they break and then try the Ds. Why can't I play him for that hand when I already "know" he's got 5 spades to the ace and the heart ace?
  17. Double is the most flexible call, and it presents the best chance for a plus score and describes the handtype well.
  18. I'd say you've got two sensible alternatives; pass and 5♣. There's no obvious "correct" call. I guess I'd try 5♣, but with no great conviction that it's the winning bid. We all know you're bad Justin - you don't have to put in a hand for us to answer that question. :P
  19. I double, and I don't think it's close.
  20. I agree with the overcall and would now pull to 4♦ - passing is too deep a position to take, and clearly odds against, especially at IMPs.
  21. I too prefer support double in this position, regardless of partner promising 4+ or 5+ spades. It's important for partner to know the degree of fit we can provide. Btw, I my partnerships the double of 1♥ show 4-5 spades and 1♠ denies 4 spades; both minors or the problem hands without a stopper.
