  1. Partner denies 4-5H with 9+hcp; denies 3+D w 9-10; denies 4+C w 10+; denies S stop w 10+!!! What is left??
  2. Vs 1C that can be anything, usu weak bal, look at your spades: 0-1S = obstruct with distr defined (with H, not. RJO type)2-bids; 2-4S look at hcp <11 get suit OC in; 4+S = 1S, >12= pass letting partner get his suggestion in. Not just Polish 1C, the 'May be short' also.
  3. Immediate for game; reopen for partial works>
  4. Two 5cM!! and easy 1-level showing: SQxxxx HJ10xxx is enough. Of course nothing more.
  5. 2 likely ruff tricks + ??SA: Jump 4C.
  6. What does a passed hand 2S show? P-1D-/ 2S?? Primes in side suits raise, quacks quit?
  7. Assume Hxx support for your weaker suit, tally the tricks likely. Look at defensive tricks, what do they make to compare loss to? Why risk 800 vs. their close game? But. risking 800 vs. their unfindable (space gone now) slam, that's enticing. DKQ + CKQ looks close defense-- don't offer big set. DKQ + CQ looks 1 DT-- bid up!
  8. 2S puts partner in the catbird seat: any contract he suggests now is accepted. However, I, too have no non-GF after resp reverse--how about leben-like 2NT?
  9. Hope to establish 2D to drop 2H for 2H ruffs.
  10. 1. 6D opps save if its close. 2. Good raise has A+K +DJ= 6S. 3. Overheated already, so get lucky in 6D.
  11. Even better for me, an indexed database. I often just want printed thought on one particular aspect of the game. Seldom grazing ideas.
  12. Partner acted in front of me; he can't be weakly competing, must be game-trying. With C stop and 10 not 6hcp, at least siggest 3NT. Hope his D are top heavy for tricks.
  13. Stinking stoppers! Take the stopper asking/showing bids out, now that bid is slam specific. And just bid game steals as often as fails to find stopper perfecto.
  14. Double with a partner who will take 300 with his 1-2 tricks, and no severe distribution. Pass if partner is a moron.
  15. Choose your poison: partner arranging his responses in case hand1/2, vs. free to expect better. OR My Self Opponent(MSO) leaving hand1/2 to hoping partner/I can reopen or that spades shut out wins This rare time. Either double has ambiguous or reopening does. either easy to double + care responding OR narrow double + easy responding Add reopening???
  16. East must go 4H over 2S! Not crime West for not promoting his single support. 5-losers if demoting D under to 2S force= must have 2 tricks.
  17. Artificial is opposite to natural; conventional implies additional information to 'I bid to play'
  18. Pass---if you ever intend to punish opps for reopening, this is prime example.
  19. 6-suit offering some chance of 3 length tricks opposite strong 1NT: game bid but quacks suggest 3NT---xfer and 3NT= p/c.
  20. When does opener JUMP to 3H? 5losers, 5-5, 5controls seems right here.
  21. When does shape information change a decision(partial/game, G/slam)? That's when it is needed, rest is blabbing to help defenders count. So, the partitions you suggest bal/2-s/3-s/1-s may be incorporated when partner asks for that.
  22. Passers describe a hand that does raise. What do you need AAKKK? HAxxx+void? what?
  23. 1NT, owe a point, esp 3433.
  24. Test vs intervention by asking 'how many cases to sort out with one call at 3-level?' (2 calls if super playing case) If as precision vs 3D: bal, bal+, S, S+,H,H+,C, C+, SH, SH+, SC, SC+, HC, HC+ shortD, shortD+ the whole next level gets used to clarify. But if only 3-4 cases that overlap, simple. 1C <3D> ?? how to inform partner H yes, S no, game ok, slam no.
