I think the guidelines are no different from bbo`s terms and conditions (profanities and racially/politically charged statements are out) tds moonlight as poetry reciters, orators, djs. The other day one was playing Right said fred's "I'm too sexy", i kept wondering if he was dressed in thights and dancing to it. Think o it this way, these folks give up their time to be there tding for you. it is a thankless job. let them have their minutes of fame.

yesterday afternoon i was practicing some bridgemaster level 4 deals, and the trumps copus and retification of count were still way above my head. there were about 4-5 such deals where trumps were breaking badly for slam, trumps always break badly for me and then i am dealt the deal below, and i was not just about to draw trumps without thinking, and, i might actually end up needing 2 diamond ruffs in dummy upon taking the opening lead with the ace of spades, i lead a small diamond to the jack the opps were very accomodating by taking the fst trick with the queen and returning a diamond establishing my suit and eliminating the need for 2 diamonds ruffs it was a gift, but all donations are welcome, i could then draw 2 rounds of trump had this thing not worked, surely in the MBC i would have been called and epithet, followed by ?????????????????? Thanks partner, I think [hv=pc=n&s=sj863ha8752dk2c82&w=sakqhdat965cakqt4&n=s942hqj9dq743cj53&e=st75hkt643dj8c976&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=ppp1cp1hp3dp4cp6cppp]399|300|lead is spade 9[/hv]

i had a small argumewnt with a 2/1 partner yesterday. back in 2005 i read max hardy`s book to learn 2/1, but the rank and file at bbo were not playing it, now that are many more who play it, but they pay hardy no attention. now i have a partner who says he plays max hardy and i started remembering stuff from the book to play with him. Naturally i go back to the book and quote chapter and verse. i suppose that i remeber things that have been profitable for me over the years, for example: - no preempts in 4th seat openings - splinters is a shape bid ( this one, presented in the beginning of the book was particularly useful, since i see folks who takes years to learn splinters). But there was another thing that i like and use: "Opener rebids naturally at the 3 level after a 2 over 1 response if openers rebid after a 2 over 1 response is in a new suit at the three level, it promises one of two things, either the hand`s values are sound - 14+ hcps- or the shape is at least 5-5- pener will tend not to use up so much bidding space unless it is necessary in order to best describe the hand" and he goes on to say "there is a false belief in the minds of many that if opener rebids at the 2 level in the major suit that was opened, the rebids promises a 6 card or longer suit. When opener has no other way to describe, the rebid of a 5 card suit may be necessary. Responder should never jump to the conclusion that opener`s rebids has promised 6 or more cards, it simply may be a last resort, when any other rebid would have been a great distortion." Now here is the deal, if one in fact opens distributional hands with 11 hcp, a 2 over 1 bid on 12 hcp may not generate a successful game, so i think responder should be warned and the suit shift reassures responder. my partner insists that the 2 over 1 bid is a strict game force and at the same time, that the suit shift does not guarantee a sound opening. I think he cannot have the cake and eat too, what do you all say? thanks

Did i say there were not telephones or news papers in brazil in the 1980s, of course we had them, even tho we still lived in the trees. The media was controlled by govt, newspapers and televisions. artists and others with access to the populace went to live in exile in the late 1960s there are telephones, radio and newspapers in cuba, as well as in china, when you live in a dictatorship they have a way to be inside your home

i do not buy it. peaceful demonstratinons forced out a 20+ year military rule in brazil back in the early 80's. access to email and internet then was likely limited to educational institutions and / or large corporations. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diretas_J%C3%A1

here is the problem. 4 of us wwill be attending a private lesson the teacher will open a teaching table(old version I think) so, he cannot ban kibitzers because we students will be kibitzing. now, what may happen is that a number of other students may attempt to join the table, and i suppose the guy must now repeatedly turn down requests for joining, and likely have to explain why. if he makes the table invisible, how can the invited students get there? thanks

i watched the new web version lesson style the material was excellent and written in the same format as granovetter`s switch in time, but with better visual display it does not match the visual display i get from the bbo cd partnership defense by kit woolsey however. it also does not offer inetractive actitivies like the kit woolsey cd. the voice-over needs improvement, as there were variations in volume. i would purchase the product, as i have purchased the bridge master deals from the web version, which are veyr veyr good but are not promoted(you would be at bbo for years and never heard of it). However the pricing should not be more expensive than let`s say purshasing a book which might come with 50 deals, ie the price perdeal should compare with the purchase of a new book. i again renew my request that the bridgemaster deals be made available on the web for sale and for those who already purchased it. ps. i have posted here because i could not reach the email adress on the bbo announcement, it required some mail server which i have not installed in my computer in years and i was confused, why not a link to the bbo forum?

Thanks Phil this sounds good. When i read watson the fst time, i could understand very little and even the diagramas were hard to read, this on top of being a non-native speaker of english. i think for the purpose of card play i should pick some of the sequences of bridge master-- the environment matches the one where i play-- i dont play live. maybe a method of accomplishing this would be to actually copy the hands and comments onto those lin files for further study.

i have made intesive use of the coloured system of marking players. i like it that the coulours show when i browse the partnership desk but, when i am table host i would like to see the colours displayed either to select opps or partners, is that possible? thanks
-
Suppose you are an advancing player and can handle yourself well wihtin the circles you play, you also have read a few books. Which books would you benefit from reading again, by picking up insights you could not have picked up when reading or learning it for the first time. I recently started rereading louis watson`s play of the hand, and half of the book was not there the fst time i read it.

a. the forcing no trump convention allows responder to be sing or void in your major, and he may be seeking a better fit so you have to bid a 3 card or even 2 card minor if you must, when holding only 5 spades. to rebid 2 spades after a forcing no trump shows 6 -- and a little hope in the event you play opposite a singlton or void. b. you have to pass any new suit bid by responder after your first rebid, but you may continue the bidding if thr responder returns to your major. ******************* 2 heartas over 1 sapdes hows 5, so you can support holding 3 i bid 2nt when i have all unbid suits stopped, i hate the contract, but you are allowed to rebid a 5 card spade suit opposite a heart 2/1.
