  1. Your club actually has recorder forms? Our clubs around here don't even have appeal procedures.
  2. I think the right thing to do is to seek the TD after the round (away from the table), and tell the TD what happened.

    adjust?

If I felt like being a smart-ass, I'd say that THIS opponent should know that there are only 40 HCP is the deck.

    adjust?

Why does it HAVE to be business? Around here most of the export partnerships play that PASS is the strong big (or at least has strong options), while an immediate RDBL is the signal to find a suit at the two level.

    adjust?

I'm not at all convinced that the XX is even alertable! The ACBL guidelines, which I'm assuming are in play: Is an XX as a minor-suit runout really "highly unusual or unexpected"? If the call is not alertable, how can N/S have perpetrated an infraction? The absolute most I can see here is sticking N/S with some percentage of -620 if jurisdictionally allowed. I'm NEVER giving E/W any of it.

    adjust?

Because failure to at least investigate game feels an awful lot like a fielded psyche? The only reason for it would be that you're playing your partner to not have a penalty double of 1N.

    adjust?

No adjustment. How can W possibly think the XX was to play? Is he thinking his partner made a penalty X of a strong NT on a 6 count? Also, I think a XX here has to be self alerting.
  8. Because there's such a strong correlation between masterpoints and skill, and this will in no way cause bad free TDs to do even more shady things...
  9. Remember...if it smells like multi, burn it.
  10. It's not the 2♣ = majors that's not gcc, it's the 2♦ = one major bit. 2♣ can be basically anything non-destructive, where as 2♦+ need at least one known suit.
  11. On this hand once you decide to go past 3N you might as well bid 6♦, as any other contract is bound to have very poor matchpoint equity.
  12. North: ♠ Jxx ♥ AJTxx ♦ Qx ♣ Axx South: ♠ A ♥ Kx ♦ Axxx ♣ Kxxxxx Club MP game, west dealt and passed... unopposed auction: 1♥ - 2♣ 3♣ - 4N 5♥ (2/no Q) - 6♣ Was down a lot with QJTx of trumps with west and the heart hook off.
  13. A degrees of seperation based ranking would be fun. E.g. for an unknown person for everyone of your friends that has also friended them it's a +1, and for every one of that's enemy'ed that's a -1. Could extend it out to additional layers of friends with each one have less affect on the number.
  14. It's much more likely that you can extract a large (e.g. game beating) penalty (or beat it vs make a partscore) when your defensive trump honors are on declarers left, and much less likely to be finesseable.
  15. My logic for double.... I's about a 8.5-9.5 loser hand depending on how you count it, and partner might just be able to show showthing. (e.g. 1NT or or any jump is good..., a 1♠ is bad...)
  16. ♦7. Might blow a trick, but also tells partner what to lead when he's in, which might gain 3 or 4 back.
  17. ♠ - ♥ KQ93 ♦ - ♣ AKJxxxxxx MP... equal vuln (can't remember if none or all), LHO deals and passes Partner passes, RHO opens.... 1♥! Your call? If you double:
  18. Imo opener's doubles are penaly and responders doubles are takeout/negative. No clue if that's standard. General rule is that doubles "over" the bidder are penalty and doubles under the bigger are takeout.
  19. 1N open for me, and I don't even think it's minimum. I like good suits... Put it another way.... would you feel bad about opening 1N on: Kxx Qxx Axx AJxx To me that is a MUCH worse hand. Sure, you've got "stoppers", but where are your working cards?
  20. What I'd like to know is W's reason for not bidding some number of spades.
  21. I voted 50/50. I don't like 5♣. But I don't like east's failure to splinter or pass of 5♣ either. East has the freakin' nuts for this auction. Massive controls and 4 card fit..
  22. Without a Forcing 1N bid, imo 4 card limit raises are unplayable...or at least would require enough science that you might as well just learn 2/1...
  23. Are people totally discounting the idea of partner being 2-5-5-1? Couldn't 4♠ be on something like Ax x xxxx KQJxxx or something? How about 5♥, asking for a spade control? Ideally we'd have some sort of agreement here to differentiate between first and second round control. E.g. direct 6♥ is second round, 5N is 1st rnd, something like that.
  24. Does "no pause for thought" start when the player becomes AWARE of what he has bid, not when he does it? E.g. partner grabs where he thinks is the 2♦ card, not the 2♣ card, plops it down and proceeds to stare off into space. Now if when he hears "ALERT!" and looks down and see's what he's bid, if he immediatly says "oh, I meant to bid 2♦", wouldn't that be an allowed correction?
  25. Legal in Mid-chart events because it shows 4+ cards in a known suit. Not legal in GCC events. It would be legal at the GCC level if it showed 5+-4+ in two known suits...e.g. 5+ ♥ and 4+ ♠.
