  1. I'd like to see transfers legal, period. That is, any bid that transfers to either the next, or the next but one suit, and shows equivilant to a legal natural bid. That is to say, transfers over, say, a forcing 1♣ could be on a zero count, but 5+ over a natural/prepertory 1♣ Also this would allow things like transfer preempts.
  2. The other hand was: [hv=s=sxhqjt98xdakqxcax]133|100|[/hv]
  3. The one thing that kills diagram mode for me is that the auction no longer displays in the center of the screen, and instead takes up a tiny postage stamp size area in the top corner. Doesn't sound like a big thing, but for me it's just enough of an annoyance.
  4. [hv=d=w&v=n&s=saxxhxdt9xxxxcqxx]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] Auction: W N E S (you) (p) - 1♥ - (p) - p(*) (1♠) - 2♥ - (2♠) - p (p) - 3♥ - (3♠ )- p (p) - X - (p) - ?? * - Yes. pass. Probably not the field bid, but just giving the actual auction as it occured
  5. Win K♠. Pull trumps. Q♠ to the A. Now play the K♥. If covered, ruff and force the diamond entry, if not covered play a small diamond, and west must give you a dummy entry.
  6. Off the wall. Whatever happened to bidding your suit?
  7. [hv=s=sajxxxhxdakqcaqxx]133|100|[/hv] Ok, I'll admit I jokered it and raised to 7, where we have 13 tops. Probably not a good bid, technically, but hey, we had had about a 25% game after 6 boards, and we needed some matchpoints. 1520 was worth a 95%
  8. [hv=d=n&v=n&s=sxxhakqjtxxxdxxcx]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] Playing 2/1 with a solid partner, little/no system/style discussion. ACBL MP tourney. Auction: 1♠ - 2♥ 3♣ - 3♥ 4NT - 5♠ (2+Q) 6NT - ??
  9. I think it has to be natural. (NB: This is assuming the 5♣ bidder is not a passed hand) That being said, I think it also shows interest in a slam. This is not a 'rescue' auction but interest in going furthur, oppisite the right stuff. ♠x ♥Axx ♦KQx ♣AQxxxx May be a typical hand.

  11. No. The usual assumption is that partner is balanced and broke, asking you to pick a decent spot. Sitting for a XX at the 1 level does not exist on this auction. It's only penalty on an auction like: 1♠ - p - p - X p - p(Penalty) - XX - p p - p
  12. [hv=d=s&v=n&n=sahdakjxxxcakjxxx&w=skxxxhaqtxxxdxxcx&e=sqjxxhxxxxdxxcxxx&s=sxxxxhkjxdqxxcqxx]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Auction: p - 1♥ - 2NT(1) - 3♥ 3NT(2) - p - 4♥ - X(3) p - p - XX - p 5♦ - p - 5♠ - X(4) p - p - XX - p 6♣ - p - 7♦ - ap (1) - Minors (2) - No preference, interest in competing (3) - Doesn't like a ♥ lead. (4) - Likes a heart lead Result: 13 tricks claimed on x♠ lead. This is a hand from a Bracket 1 KO final. E-W was Meckwell, N-S was a WC Polish pair. EDIT: Whoops, the last XX was in the wrong spot.
  13. Got a partner, thanks for the interest.
  14. Just a random request here - I'm going to be at the Charlotte Regional all week next week and am looking for a game for the Monday Aft. Pairs. Any BBOers interested?
  15. Unfortunatly, at least for those of us of the US East Coast, the tourney times are less than ideal. Always seem to be either while I'm at work or asleep. Something around Midnight GMT would be good.
  16. Another idea would be to charge table fees normally per round, and tack, say, a $40 per team "prize fee" into the first entry. Prize money would come exclusively from this pool. First place gets the prize pool, final round loser gets their card fees back in free play tickets, or some such. This would make it scale fairly for any size field, since the total prize money would be proportional to the # of teams and the money spent. In a 10 team bracket, it would be, say, a 1 in 10 chance of winning $400. In a 100 team field 1 in 100 chance of winning $4000, etc.
  17. If not brackets, it should be A/X - B/C/D.
  18. As far as forcing bids over 1C-1D, I like to play a 1M rebid by opener as 4+M, possibly longer m, F1 Over this I play a sort of ultra-Drury type stucture: 1N=0-4. <4 M 2C=5-7, 0-2M 2D=5-7, 3M 2M=0-4, 4M 3M=5-7, 4M 4M=0-4, 5+ M
  19. What exactly is a Butler rating?
  20. If I did the math right, that comes to 1 in 15,639, which feels about right.
  21. Pass isn't out of this world.
  22. Which game? Please give the full auction, no matter how ugly or joker. It is informative.
  23. From what I recall, BBO transmits that information when you login, of all those currently logged in. If the person changed the info at some point, that might explain. Those who logged in AFTER he changed it see the new value, those who logged in before don't.
  24. I think this auction shows something like Kxxx xxx AJxxx x So, not only non-forcing, but an attempted sign-off.
