  1. looks like the right playground for them are "kindergarden"and I give no smilys!
  2. I did it like you said, alerted, put in the explanation before O asked. Then I was able to see it, but non of O or P, so maybe we have to wait for the O to ask ::)(haven't done that many alert's, so maybe I have done it wrong ;))
  3. LOL, just a thought, maybe the expert and star players know so many systems and conv, that they let their P say what they want to play. There are no room to write all down ::) (hey just a thought!! B)) I would love a pop up box for the alerts, even if Claus are right, because the conv card shall cover it (but maybe more offline);D
  4. As long as you promote "Awards" you must fight "cheating" so the topic has not changed in my opinion, you just got the side effect of it 8)
  5. LOL, Great then we can have double satisfaction :) (JK)
  6. Are you sure on this? I find one in my main dir which is Orbis 2000, but this one I think is coming with the program. You can also recive such files from sources like GIB, but I don't think they are made automatic from the BBO program itself. Well, well, we have do hear Uday on this, I think 8) Sorry we was no help ??? ;D ;D
  7. LOL, nice Claus 8) I think we might have some language problems here, or maybe different opinions on what to put into the meaning of the word "student" in this case.(please let us go over to Junior :B)) I agree with you. Teaching with the table shall only happen when the table is marked as so, or in the training area. Why then have a new title? Well if we just have one tittle, evryone have to find out for themselves what kind of P or O you meet. If you start giving them choises to describe themself, many will call them self exspert or adv just because they have a great ego. On the other end, you have people that want to deliver more before they use that kind of description for themself::) For what I am studying, well I follow the disussion on this site. I have just started to learn multi. The thread gave many opinions, and some nice links. I saw from your last post that you wanted discussion about partner bidding and so on. I hope you ask such question, because it will be nice to read about it ;D Big ;D to you all!
  8. ;D ;D ;D Thanks, Hallway, for your comment on private, you hit the Bulls eye there! 8) As for name "student"... "Junior" I myself is open for what ever comes, even if there comes nothing ;D Until next bridge session, have a big ;D all!!
  9. Maybe we have different opinion on what the label"student" mean B) What I put into it, is a person who is better than a beginner, even if a beginner also are a Student B) In my opinion it isen't the main thing to recive lessons (that we recive in playing, beeing defeated, win, and s.o), but the willingness to recive constructive comments on what we do. The label itself will prevent nasty comments from people who always belive other is to blame, for who can blame one there are willing to learn? ::) As many of our expert players (JG;Rado..) has said, the only way to learn is to be as near a bridge table as you can, then the rest is up to your own imagnation and the abillity to think ::) (the quotation was a bit free from my own mind, hopefully not more then you can a good laugh on it ;D ;D ;D)
  10. In order to have them recorded, you must mark for this options in your profile when on BBO site. There are several choises, and vulgraph is one of them 8) (hope I have understand the question right ;D)
  11. Agree with you John B) In my opinion are "beginner and novice" good for the purpose to give message that ones ability is not up to"average" in playing and betting. Let say I as player start to get hold of those two thing, and will put Intem.. on my card. Will you as another Intem.. assume that I can most conv and so on??? It is the lack of knowledge to most conv, that makes me want something between beginner and Inte.. and there "student" kan be nice, because it will give my pick up partner a message that "he might be good,or bad,he know how to play, but I can't throw all my babies on him, whitout asking him first" ;D Why not just jump to inte... and be finish with it? Well with the word "student", you give the message that you are open for constructive comment, as an Intem I might be insulted from the same comment B) It also prevent my pick up partner to sit judge, and say that I must go back down to novice, because of a stupid mistake that we both are to blame, and last but best, I feel that that is my title, I love the game, but want to learn so much much more 8) Until the option arrive, I have promoted myself to Intem.........Please don't shoot me ::) ;D ;D
  12. Sounds like a winner to me ::) (I think you shall take up Lotto as a proffession with all those winnings ideas ::) (JK with a smile, but your idea is truly great ;))
  13. What is said, is well spoken, so that leave me just to applaud,"well done BBO" ;D
  14. Agree with you Rado, real play is the main teacher, and the only way to become better as player. But, as a lower level player, reading post as this thread, I get input in new metodes to how I should threat different problems, and maybe a smarter way to think, or maybe find out how my future oponent think B), therfore I think we shall allow a broader discussion then just a narrow question, as long as it can give something posetive to the community:D But yes, it is only ouerself that can improve our skills by using our own brain..... and then I might stand as a beginner.. ::) Big ;D to you all!
  15. know the posts get read but the responses are few and far between. Perhaps I am wrong to make such posts, but to me if you are in a community then everyone should try to make some kind of contribution. Agree with you John, I think we need people asking questions, and I think the community itself has much to gain with such postings ::) I also agree with your heading for this post, and the way The_hog respond to you. You hope for more active posters, and so do I, but in order to let that happen, we must promote such posting, rather to complain on them ::) Agein, a community is a place for a lot of opinions, promote them and you learn, denay them and you become ignorant B) (No one must take offence of this posting, made general ;D)
  16. Huuuuuum! Looks like it work for all letters, but not for the "messages itself" ::)Sorry :-X And I can see JG already have given this tip :( Do you have a spare set of magnifying glass ::) ;D
  17. Hei Laird :( I just made the words "bigger", go to top of IE, push "show" (third ) there you find "letter zize" not sure what the english equalent is ???. Then you can set it in several diffrenent zizes. Hope this can help you, but yes it will affect all sites ;D
  18. agree with you both, and I have had the same exp myself. My suggestion:) All board's are set automatic as unrestricted. In order to have a restricted board, you have to manually do something. If host leave, an automatic message ask "still restricted? Y/N" this before the program allow players to join Today it freez all action so you can't manually put the table unrestricted if a player have asked to join, you have to deal with the permission first, this is wrong since the program allow "all" player to ask, and the host must go true the whole list before (i had 4 or 5) he can do anything else. From my own exp with host that deney me accsess, I know that I never ask agein, and that is a pitty if it is due to the program and not the host. Agein, your software program is the best, but even that can be better!:(:):)
  19. Tried the new hand viwer today. GREAT improvment, speedy and in the familiar program:) "The idea is to reduce the data sent to the PC for each hand" Seems your idea worked as usal:)
  20. Have to agree with Codo, allthough I myself play like you and your wife:) What makes up for some good conventions though, is that you both understand more of the behaviour of the other part, that gives you an edge:) Shall you, on the other hand, play with other partners, then you need more driving rules, and there the conventions helps:) So I think I will have to studdy some rules in the near future, or no one will play with me:)
  21. Just giving my vote to the "student" skill level! Much better then Inte..., because just as Hallway I feel that I don't belong there, but on the other hand I am not a beginner in the sence of the word, even if that is what my card show:)
  22. (/quote) Rhutobello, if you read the question raised when I started the topic you will see that the people referred to made no attempt to answer it, and self-proclaimedly are not interested in it. The question was not too broad, but specific. What do you mean by "asked the wrong question"? Should I have asked a question that required discussion of scientifically-designed systems, etc? If you are a lower-level player perhaps you'd do better to use simpler systems for the time being; but it's your life. Well I am in dager to repeat other in the same thread, but hopefully this can not be said to often so here I go:): A) A community is a living and pulsing thing. There are many opinions, and even if they are diffrent, they don't need to be wrong, in other word, we are not into science. B)In my opinion, when you start a thread with a question on a community board, this question and the answers become public ownership, and must be threted like that. If you want spesefic answer to spesefic question then you must narrow it down to ask questions that have no opinions, but just facts, like how many card are there in one deck:) (then you get asking is it normal or tarot you thinking about?) or you must use email to people that you think can give you a concret answer to your question. When you start a thread, think about it as a tiny little tree. Often it will not grow, because the question is not of public interest, or to narrow. But if it grow, be proud, and look at all the information it held, use your ego to say, look how popular this thread have become:) As for complaining, I must say that is a negativa act that not just damage you, but the whole community. Think about it, you share your thoughts with fellow community folks, trying to do the best you can, and then you get pepper for it, I think you will be more restrective to whom you respond to next time. So I hope such complain is the last we see, and that our advance and world class posters keep up the good work, I like it! (but who care about me (JK):)
  23. LOL, take no offence from this either, but if you ask a question, who is the better to answer this then just those who you blame:) If a thread goes out of the hand, maybe you have asked the wrong question, or maybe the question is to broad, but the info given by the partisipants I think is good for us "lowerlevel" players:)
  24. LOL, agree:) (frome one who breake any rule in the English language, but who manage it's own above average:))
