  1. Hi Mirjam_3  Well aren't we lucky who have discovered BBO :) I agree on all points with you, in fact I think the BBO software is almost perfect, and when we think that they provide it to us for free, then my rating is :P :P :D :D :D > :D out of 3 :D Have a nice day all  Edvin
  2. I think we can see the begining of a new Bulgarien millionare.....or maybe Lotto is the easier way B) Just kidding Misho, and don't let us stop you, if you manage it, your future is secure B) Good luck Edvin
  3. I shall not start a long thesis whay we shall allow kibitzers, because that is alredy done :) , on the other hand I will ask like Free, "why must we close a board for kib?" Give us a good reason, then maybe we can understand such a stand. But when you do don't just throw out popular statement like cheating and chatting. Give us in the same statement the prof how often have you catched a cheater, how often must you ban a "talker" and so on. When you give us this proof, and we might all see that most of your turnys become destroyed from cheaters and talkers and then we might understand the call for banning kib from your turnys ;) Have a nice day :) Edvin
  4. Sounds strange to me, even if I play artific club in the same way, denay 5 major or 4 desant diamond with 1 club. But maybe he has found something in Richard's "symmentri def" that we havn't :D (just kidding) And a nice day to you all :D Edvin
  5. uhmmm, and I who only wanted to have some relax time among friends  (just kidding) I can see there still are tons to learn :D thx Have a nice day all :D Edvin
  6. Yep, there can be, BUT let me try to give my option of this. First, with 2 partners that have worked together in a long time, know what is going on and the way it works today is fine. But when you have pick up partners, or partner on no regular basis then the case is something else. When you play brigde and give a call, you know what you will say with the bid. But the question is, do partner? When we advocat self exp as a great advantage on Bridge play I dissagree. As long as only O are able to recive this information, you give away information that maybe (in lots of cases) partner don't have, and he/her is responding out from what he/her think the call is. That is the important information! That is the call he will give and act from, that's why we have a lot of missunderstanding. I agree that partner that has no common agreement don't have to alert their bidding. But in many cases O ask me what my call are, and since I am a polite man I give them it freely :D But time and time agein P has belived it is something else, that's why I think it is wrong. Some days ago I kib a "world class player" that always ask for exp world class players to attend. He had no info in his profile over what he has as common bids. Well he opend in 2 d, the calls goes all around with all particepating. At last his p put the contract in 5 D (he had best D) The world class player then said he had played multi 2 d, with weak hearts, kicked P out and asked for redeal. Is this the way we shall do it  Agein I advocat an option to let all 4 on the table to see all alerts and the expl. For us lowerplayer it will be a great help.....and maybe for som wc players too :D Have a nice day Edvin
  7. with drums and trumpet I join the chorus :D Good luck to you Ben and to the rest of the yellows to catch "all those madmans" that's lurking around BBO's corridoes, and if you don't see them take a game instead(just kidding) ;) Have a nice day all :D Edvin
  8. Hey all, for the last two post I have some comment :) 1) You really need "community menager" with full rights and diplomatic talant, who love BBO enough to sacrifice his time to do this job. Probably same person is not so hard to find, if you look menagment of previous conflict... Abilty to menage large mass of unruly people is part of his job, hehe And he is already volunteer too A nice thought, but don't ask for it B) As soon as this manager is employed, he/she will get every little quarrel on his/her table. The manager and his helper will soon be burned out. The cry for a new manager will start. No one willing on a free basis. What next..... 2) From Uday We don't have anyone who is the "community manager" My primary work is development, then abuse, etc. Here I will say development is enough, both for Fred and Uday! So if we want to help, I suggest that we ask them if they want us to form a commite, 3-5 people from different countrys, that try to solve missunderstandings, abuse, quarrels and so on, on a free basis, and after rules given from BBO. This is just thoughts, but I am sure some of us will help out if asked :D Have a nice day  Edvin
  9. Maybe I shot some overhead here, but I will agein try to give my feelings  1) how many players attend BBO each hours of the day? from 750 - 4000 2) How many cheaters do you think there are logged on? how great odds is't to run into a cheater? 3) If you play with a cheater and loose, how much must you pay, or what do you not recive? Is this loss enough for you to ban kib, when you know that you then also ban yourself? 4) When do we play with a "cheater"? In my opinion if you play ageinst Op that never can learn you anything, but still win over you all the time. If you play ageinst such O, mark him, and make comments "can't learn me anything, just a vaste of time, no fun either  " Now when you have mark him, how great odds is to get a new one in the near future? I think the way to go is not to ban Kib...we all know there are shop lifters, but we don't close our shop in order to get rid of that. On the other hand, if you start to ban kib because of cheating, you make the problem much bigger, because we will belive that it is a real problem with BBO, and many will leave because there are so many cheatres there. I have also start to notice that more and more tables are locked for kib in main brigdeclub. Normaly I would never kib them, but now the suddently are more interesting :P What do you feel? We must all have an eye on the "small problem". Mark it yourself, but never accuse one before you are 150% secure that you are right. Hopfully Uday and Fred still improve the programs abillity to catch cheaters, in the meantime have fun :) :) Have a nice day  Edvin
  10. Agree on all account when it comes to kibbitz :( I think talking about cheating...don't allow kibbitzer because you are afreid of cheating. and so on..just have on big drawback "You destroy the fun of the game" I don't belive there are THAT much cheating...but if we all talk all the time about it, our BRAIN and our EGO will se it every time we make our own dumb mistakes. Take the fun back...play BRIDGE and accept that someone are a bit more lucky then you B) Have a nice day Edvin
  11. Hei what have happen to my twin B) Have she cut our bond....or have she found out that she had another father....or was it mother...what both?...what new suit or XX....i don't know....but I can give you all a smile :P Have a nice day :o Edvin
  12. I will just say Thank You Fred the DOTW has always been something to look foeward to. I can understand your decision, and when we see all the other work you are up to, we can just but wonder how many hours you have in the day  THANKS! Edvin
  13. here I agreee totally with Claus. I find it very starnge to play with a pick up partner for 100% of time, and when alerting just O and kib will see the alert. I belive in f2f bridge the normal way is to ask p of the bidder what the bet has to say. Here they ask the bidder, the bidder give them the info, and partner don't know what we are talking about at all, and he/she is the one that shall respond...strange   I think an option when creating a table "show alert to all" will fix it, and give serious player the abillity to turn it of :D Just a thought  Have a nice day Edvin
  14. LOL, me agein....but this will be the last :D Feelings and pride are strong forces and I will try to give an exp of it. This is a true story!!!!!! There are two families that live in a “double house” One are a professor the other a scientific officer from the same school. ( so both should be educated persons) In 1992 the professor put up an antenna on the wall (that is for both apartments). The SO believed that the screw was put on his half on the wall, and demanded the antenna removed. After much quarrel, the SO took the case to court. This case has been in and out of court for 12 year. The SO has lost every time, and those 4 screw holes has cost him 700.000 kroner or abut 100.000 dollars in attorney fee for the professor., on the top comes his own expenses. The case ended this year with the professor leaving for another job. So I think we shall be glad that we have some sort of safety valve here in the community Still a nice WE B) Edvin
  15. Just to bring in a smile i will give a poem from Fun21 site: I have a spelling checker, It came with my PC. It plainly marks for my revue Miss takes I cannot sea. I've run this poem threw it, I'm shore your pleased two no Its letter-perfect inn it's weigh. My chequer tolled me sew Maybe this show .....B):) Have a nice day :D Edvin
  16. Just open my two news papers for Sunday. 1 Headline: Navy site closed down because of high posting with woman discrimination content. second headline Quarell among nieghbours cost our community (350.ooo inh) more than 10 mil a year (1.3mill dollar) Have a nice day:) Edvin
  17. This is a little exp on how fast a quarrel can go out of hand. We are a international community with a lot of diffrent culture and languages. A language has a lot of "flowers" and "diffrent meanings" for the same word when used together with other word When we try to translate a message from one language into another much will vanish, or take wrong meanings. I like to think that I am about average in English, but I am sure that an English person can send me a letter scolding me with "a smile", and I will not see it. So when your translation was deleted, it gave no meaning or false meaning for the reader. We must also agree that a post in a non English language has greater chanse to survive in the community, because of the language barrier. This said without taken any stand in your translation skill:):D Have a nice day:) Edvin
  18. Agree, in most cases when the community are small this is a nice way to go. I have been around this community for a while now, and even if i don't post that much, i read a lot of it. I have managed to get a look of some of the post that have been edit, or deleted. I agein agree with the action, and i think the community have benefit from it. When BBO community have made a choise in what they tolerate and what they don't, most members will work close to this terms, and some will try to stretch it a little. If you on the other hand, tolerate more, there will still be those who want to stretch it a little bit more. But I can still not see why it is important to discuss a case in full public (this is often the "edit" ones) as long as there are no way you can recive the truth and feelings from both sides, and then give them a solution for their problems. The community is GREAT and for all, and you discuss common cases, your help and support for your friends you do with emails:) Have a nice day:) Edvin
  19. Maybe Ben, the "first port of call" should be with the poster him/herself. An p_message from you or Uday that the post could be construed as offensive and should be edited. Well if you do..then the next poster have something to build on and the whole avalanche has started. A community are for all members. We can not be so green eyed that we belive that we can solve any personal dispute in full public. All we can achive is a lot of hurt feelings, click for and ageinst a case, and in the end a lot of missunderstandings. No.. don't ask for it! Still a nice day:) Edvin
  20. Just a quick one. I agree totally with the form of "censorship" this site have..They both do a great job. To those who advocat free postings "What do you gain with open discussion with names and cases" In my opinion, nothing but quarell and a lot of people who vanish from the site. Have a nice day Edvin
  21. I will give my 2 cent worth too. I always think it is sad that someone will leave a "community" because they are in confict with other members. In my opinion in dooing so, you let your "enemy" win. What do you gain? You don't have to "see" your "enemy" other than that, not much. (but what if they also move to another site and meet you there...then..run..a...) What do you loose? Well from this thread i think several 100's friends. One of the best(THE BEST) bridgesite in the world. Your "babies" Top flight. and so on... In another thread i say that "pride" is one of mankinds worst abillitys. When I see what you both loose, and what you might gain over your enemy, i will say it is true. So my last word will be: Be proud but don't let your pride destroy you! Have a nice day all! Edvin
