  1. [hv=d=n&v=b&s=sjxxxhat9xxxdcajx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] 2Nt-------3D 3H--------3S 3NT-------4C 4D--------??? 3S was slammish at least 4 card. 4D was 1st round.
  2. I would pass but if id bid i would show my shortness or fragment. By the way i much prefer to show fragment than shortness when 1Nt may easily have a 5M but not too many players play that way any reasons why ?
  3. I think im going to try the new-pre accept style, i dont think its an improvement but i do think the idea is neat. My feeling is that super accept are not that much probable compared to the regular signoff If we look at the sequences 1Nt----2S----2Nt-------3C 1-played by the bad hand 2- allow a penaltyish double by LHO (especially if they were playing an artificial X over 1Nt) 1Nt----2Nt----3C-------3D 1-played by the bad hand 2- allow a penaltyish X with a minimum of clubs (lead directing wont work because responder will XX and declarer will play in 3D) ------------------------------------------- The upside you seems to gain is 1Nt-----2S--------3C (SA) 1Nt-----2Nt-------3D (SA) are played by the right side and also if you endup in 5m too. 1Nt-----2Nt (with both m)--------3C (i dont super accept D) This is tiny plus because both m weak where opps pass is rather rare. Its not because opener doesnt super accept that his clubs are better than the diamonds. I probably missed some other minor point.
  4. 3S followed by 4C describe my hand nicely but seems to bury spades. + partner might see 3S as an advanced cue-bid. It might easily get messy. 3S-----3Nt 4C-----4S (will be a cue and not delayed support) 3S-----4D Will also screw us a bit. (unless you are 100% sure that 5C is to play) Probably 3S followed by 4S and partner can bid 4Nt as COG if he hold 2D. partner will not raise you often because the 4-3 Fit is ruffing with the wrong hand.
  5. Phil Collins and much more in "American psycho"
  6. Maybe they are cold for 3Nt even if their H are xx facing xx
  7. Interesting hand. A agreement that i suggest is that passing a forcing bid or not doubling after a forcing pass = you pay the beer no matter if you were right or wrong. The upside is that your partner cannot criticize even if he play in 3D making 6. As for 3D implying short H ... Would he double 2H with Txxx xxx AQJxxx ----- If not i dont see how he can pass 3Nt I would never never never never never never pass 3Nt after 3H---3S---3Nt holding his hand. Note here that even though 5D is not a thing of beauty its will come home and its more secure than 3Nt. Also note that your 3D bid seems very minimum or an overbid. We are playing 10-14 Nt and we often see the advancer overbid after a penalty X. This is because they assume that the doubler got a strong balanced hand... but most of the time hes got an unbalanced of a semi-balanced so a hand like yours is likely to hit a stiff diamond so you can GF with your hand only because you feel that the chance of getting a ♠ fit are good. I would have made a INV stayman (if that is possible) with your hand and pull 3Nt to 4D. I would surely received a trump lead however.
  8. Tough hand but a pass for me. I dont have shortness and partner may not have short hearts so bidding on is too dangerous.
  9. [hv=w=saxxxht98dtxxckxx&s=skqjtxxhkxxdqxcxx]266|200|[/hv] North dealer 3C--(3H)--pass---(4H) all pass. You lead the ♠K , taken by the A and he run the T of H. Your defense and more importantly why ?
  10. IMO If you dont play with a regular partner they shouldnt care. Whats the point of reporting a psych made by a unsteady partnership ?
  11. its clear that 4H in 3H-----4H is a cue. I can live with 3H-------3Nt 4H & a direct 4H as natural. But for 3H-------3S 4H 3H------4C 4H i wouldnt be so sure that we should play 4H as natural. Here is a hand we got in November (1Nt 10-14)-------X----------(2H)------------P (P)-----------------X----------(P)-------------2S (P)----------------??? Here youre hand is something like AKQ Qxx AKQxxx A its a highly unlikely problem and my example is less than perfect but still... Do you feel confident enough that 3H is still a cue and not natural ? Is 4D forcing ? Even if you have the understanding that cue followed by game in the suit is natural does it show self-sufficient suit ? imagine that the bidding goes. 3H------3S 4H 3H------4C 4H should partner pass 4H with 4054 or 3055. On 1 side you have a simple rule where if you X them or pass a take-out X and they run bidding their suit become natural at whatever level. On the other side you have that a cue bid followed by a further bid that mignt be natural or not depending on the response or the likeliness of them psyching and still you dont know if its a solid suit or not. Its lame to get our fit stolen because of a riskless psych but its something a price you have to pay to avoid major disaster and have a smooth sailing for hands where they didnt psych.
  12. The problem imo is if they didnt psych and you dont bid 3Nt now youll never reach 3Nt. Partner got a H void and will surely prefer 5D to 3Nt even with so-so diamonds. Also for me 4H by me or by my partner would be a cuebid so even if they psych and we got an H fit there is no way for me to play there since the psych isnt exposed.
  13. 1C-----2D(limit +)---------(2S) P-------X (penalty) 2Nt------3Nt X by responder is automatic. extra strength and Txx in spades with balance shape is perfect for the bid. North is close to pass but will chicken out at 2Nt (in mp passing is not unreasonnable)
  14. if 3H isnt forcing its my bid. If not ill bid a truly ugly 2Nt. I think bidding 2Nt without a stopper is so lame but if 3H if forcing im stuck.
  15. 5S for me this show a void. 6/7m can easily be a better spot than 6 or 7H.
  16. 1--- easy pass not close. 2--- 4H obvious 3--- 4S but i dont like it. We are W vs R so partner wont raising me often. Ill get some -800 fairly often but ill push them to go off fairly often too. Im not planning to pull the X.
  17. 2C and ill double 2D. Partner is heavy favorite to have at least 7 black cards so im willing to play 2S or 3C Facing a passed hand i think to X 1D is clearcut.
  18. Pass WTP, RED vs RED is there any1 dumb enough to do this with a 4-4 ?
  19. In standard its 2 and a bit of 4. But it might make sense that all weak NT pass and that 1Nt is non minimum, non-balanced with a S stopper. Hands with 6D or 5D+4C that contain a S stopper bid 1Nt and you will manage to fall back on your feet most of the time. Note that 1Nt is a deterrent to further competition by the opps. The upside is that rebidding 2C/2D show a minimum hand or a hand without a stopper.
  20. I admit that it much more likely over 4M then over 5C but there is a table feeling aspect to it sometimes they just bid 5C with confidence that make you want to save. I wouldnt do it at Imps however (unless i find 2 hidden diamonds). Over P (1♣) 4♥ (5♣) P (P) X I expect 2 defensive trick for the X with desire to bid 5H.
  21. "Ive said it once before but it bear repeating" Its a must to know wich suit is longer if you like to get in with borderline 5/4 however there is better setup than Vertigo. My favorite for example is. X= 5M and other suit maybe both M 2C= 5C+ other suit (maybe both m if you like) 2D= 5D +4M The idea is that 5M+4m are less suceptible to preemption then 4M+5m. Also what you want is that (1Nt)-----2D------(Z)--------3D is more frequent, if 2D show 5D instead of just 4D.
  22. I remember Meckstroth bid 1S------1Nt 2C (could be 3)------------3C 5C The 1S was limited to 15 pts to the 3C was stronger than standard. he had Axxxx xx x AKxxx He said that since 3C tend to show 5C support or 4C and a lot of values. It also tend to show a stiff spade.
  23. At MP its an easy pass. At imps its also a pass but its would surprised me that much if they manage to make it.
