  1. 8 boards in one hour + 30 minutes for administration, setup of new rounds, smoke break, so in 6 hours one can play 4 matches and this on two days => 8 matches total
  2. They seem to play polish club, that used to mean, that 1dia and then 2hea can not be on a flat hand with 12 points, since its either 44 reds and 41 in blacks or 5di 4he... but Jassem wrote his WJ05 book and now 3442 with kxx in spades seems possible I dont know why double here should mean "lets give them 5 imps if it goes or if we bid 5h for 800" I would expect partner to have 4441 and one of the oponents to have overbid his hand here. and I think this is the first time, I vote for "pentalty double" in this forum your opartnetrs double most likely was a mistake that randomly would have changed 100 into 200 for you, your take out was probably a serious mistake that never improves your score (or maybe from 790 back to 500 if you dont go for 800)
  3. 12-14 bal 12-14 5+ clubs 4 M or some 4414 hands that dont open 1dia 15+ club one suiter 18+any the 2cl rebid will be 15-18 onesuiter after 1d and 1h, and "either 12-14 with 4 hearts or 15-18" after one spade 1cl-1sp 2cl-? 2d=invit+ relay ...2he=12-14 4hearts, then 2sp = art. GF ...3he=15-18 4hearts ...rest nat 15-18 2he=pass with 12-14, correct with stronger hands other cheap bids natural and non forcing 2club opener becomes 10-14 6+cl with no 4M, you can use transfers here since its no more Polish Club, call it Prussian Club pls :)
  4. a) isnt he alowed to take advantage of opps mistakes? B) what should he play from axx vs qxx, aktx vs xxx and kxx vs jxx... all suits seem te best played by opps. so even if they cash their spade tricks correctly, they must open one of the other suits
  5. yes. posted the problem from the point of opening leader to point out that splitting the honors is not just a LA, its the correct play imo. his pd took his time with a9 sec.
  6. you hold: qj86 - kxxx - jxxx - q and lead vs 1nt ppp spade 6, 4th dummy comes down T742 - qxx - xxx - jxx, the 7 is played, parter follows the 9, decl wins the K and returns ♠5 do you play your partner for A9 or declarer for AK5x stealing a trick now? --- at my table in philly my op took another 30 seconds to follow the 9 after my normal play from dummy. it took more than those 10 sec. to enter contract to the bridgemate, find out about their leads and think if playing the 10 could have been right. nobody claimed i was too fast and opps agreed on their BIT but td ruled that in first trick you are allowed to think longer without consequences... can somebody confirm this?
  7. Ginossar was bronze medal winner in this event last time, Rosenblum 2006 in Verona I mean
  8. you go down 6 or so, endplay would work on kqjxx with two aces with south. at the table one player chose this line (spade finesse) and went -5. your line st spade king fails if ace is placed well but he raises and plays club now. the thing about this hand was, that the team lost by 3 imps and the declarer could have won the match by cashing his 7 winners for -2... do you think playing for kqjxx aa thatis indicated by bidding but not by the first trick is enough chance to risc some extra undertricks if it loses? after seeing the results other teammembers of course argue that declarer should have cashed out for -2...
  9. Hand: x ATxx AQJxxx xx Dummy KJxxxx x Kxx Kxx Dummy opened 1♠ non vuln (don't ask why) RHO 2♥ vuln you 3NT (don't ask why) youre playing IMPS in Rosenblum KO, Opps are top 10 seeded lead H5, "natural leads" you follow in dummy and rho plays the King your play now?
  10. Cayne and Lavazza, who failed to win their groups, where they had "waek" opps because of theirs high seeding remain seeded 3 and 4 isnt that unfair to those teams who won their gropus unexpectedly and those who were seeded 5th and 6th and won their groups? think they must adjust the pre-tourney seeding somehow, and at least they should have published HOW they will fill the brackets. Now they made something in the middle of the night, nobody knows what...
  11. yes, dont jump around too much on 4 card suits and bid more intelligent with 3 card fits
  12. easy solution would be: let the 9 teams of group a play against the 9 teams of group b... c vs. d etc. every team plays 9 matches against the same opps in their group and 4 advance to KO
  13. Hi, would it be possible to remember the users in the starting screen or somewhere else, that bridge is a mind sport and sometimes players need to think? Today I played 2 tournaments and had td at my table 4 times. I wrote "Think" to table or opps privtely everytime i took more than 20 sec, but after 30 sec. td was called... best was in a clocked tourney with 9 minutes to go some tricks befor the end on the last board of the set I had to find a discard... in the very first one I had some dfficult 7-4 hand with a guy know well but we never played before, we had some competitive auction and I had to decide to go for slam or stay in game. after less than one minute (i already wrote think...) I had the TD at my table, the discussion with the td took much longer and i still had no solution for my problem... I hope the admins can remind the players to be a bit more patient, and give a player, who already apologizes for his thinking more time - calling director brings a rude atmosphere, gives the td too much work and does not help to fasten the game! I dont understand why people sign in to a tournament, even a clocked one, and simply click randomly on cards
  14. found that article linked in facebook, continuation of the "who will play in what team" discussions: http://neapolitanclub.altervista.org/eng/l...-interview.html Now it seems there are 3 Teams in Italy -Lavazza with Duboin-Sementa and Bocchi Madala -Angelini with Nunes-Fantoni and "a Norwegian pair" (expect Helnes Helgemo) -Zaleski with Lauria-Versace always interesting to see how players and teams move and move and how the hard market creates a bad atmosphere amon the players... but anyway for the fans of Italian Championships a tourney with more top teams is much more fun. In Germany the Bamberg team splited for the open teams to avoid the Bamberg vs rest competiton, the championships became far more interesting imo...
  15. [hv=d=n&v=e&n=sj9xxhkjxxdqxxcxx&s=sxxxhxxdxxckqxxxx]133|200|Scoring: MP[/hv] after partners pass rho took some time to pass, so I tried 1NT bidding went: p - p - 1NT - 2♣* |clubs and other x* - 2♦ - p - 2♠ | points x - 3♦ - p - p.. |penalty X! parner went for 200 but actually he turned 170 into 1270 anyway some bid the slam so it was kinda 20% ;)
  16. I would be interested in forming some team and will be onside but I am born 1983, so teams with me playing must either pay or try to talk to organizers to find some "reduced" solution
  17. -my partner gave me his lowest card, I expect him to have 4 or 6 clubs, HIS smith signal will show me possession of the ace and maybe the 10 - what suit shouild I have to establish else? spades? or 2 heart honors? I play the 4 now... had I only Qx in clubs or that misterious heart honors: ♦9 QJTx(x) I would give the 2 first
  18. after 4nt east shoud jump to 7nt. had a similar auction in taiwan, after finding out ♠q is missing I bid 7nt having Jx in partners club suit... unfourtunatly parner did not have the ♣q B) I think a jump to 4NT must mean "I can place the final contract if you give me your keycards" so if resonder sees trump queen missing but he has some extra tricks unknown he should be allowed to overrule 6 spades. this time my teammates did not agree... last year there was a hand where I overruled to 7NT, it was a laydown and everybody was happy about the great bidding...
  19. 3♠ = I stop one black suit, do you stop the other?
  20. this is better! Bayern München vs FC Nürnberg, with this goal Bayern won 1-0 Nürnberg, needing every point to avoid beein relegated, protested, and for some unbelievable reasons German Footabal Federation overruled the decision and made the teams replay the match. This decision was not covered by the rules that say "once a decision has been finally made by the referee, it can not be overruled anymore by outstanding authorities" [reminds me of that England-Sweden case in Belgium] funny thing is Bayern won 5-1 in the rematch and Nürnberg got relegated because of their bad goal difference
  21. I think I pass this, the hand seems average to me, no clear preference, so partner can pick 4♥, 4♥X or 4♠ give me one spade less and one card elswhere more I double give me ♦K and ♥Q I think I bid 4♠
  22. I also dislike the rule, offside should apply in all of the conditions, even a corner, if its not hit exactly on the ground line but in the quater-circle and somebody is behind the ball with nobody else behind him. Can't tell you why they take out those examples in the rule, but normal free kicks not - seems randomly to me
  23. according to the rules of football there is no offside after throw-in, corner or goal-kicks...
