not familiar with Burns Law but life would have been a lot simpler with a 1NT opening! so to not violate Burns Law, reopen with a double? or find a partner who would bid 2♠ over 2♦ I dont think the explanation is wrong just the 3♥ call north is expecting south to be 5+♣4+♥ double would show support for ♣♥♠'s its a case of the call not fitting the discription

yes at times their leads are diabolical but at times its like watching a ping pong ball go back and forth even after they had already found the killing lead or switch. I wish we could get GIB data for use with bridgebrowser to see what the results are of GIB's leads vs human leads....but just watching the vugraphs the last week you dont see too many GIB type of leads being made :blink:

so holding AQXXX vs XXX most players play to the Q or A first then lead up to Q most club players play to the Q first better players will play the %'s and play A first then lead to Q back to original diamond holding in this problem its 96% to play to K♦'s then to AQ♦

problem is that GIB plays one GIB for something then the other GIB plays the first one for what he lead they keep switching back and forth alot thats why so many hopeless 3NT contracts make

the inverted sequence if only forcing to 2NT so passing 3♦ is probably best choice GIB also may think your bidding a 6-5 hand

yes I am only assuming it had some reason for the play it made what it is i dont know

as a declarer i find the bot leads challeging they usually dont give up much and takes awhile to realize that the suit is actually alot of times with the other defender now when I lead like GIB i get killed I stick to the old and true lead what you got unless there is something in the auction to say other wise.

and thats the part I hate about the commercial GIB is having to declare when GIB should be playing sorry but it has never just felt right when the table gets rotated must be some sort of mental block :rolleyes:

another one of those weird things that GIB does spades only promises five forcing to 3NT no reason not to give chance to get to right strain

on didnt realize on the gui there was an option for imps or mp i knew on the bridge.exe command line there was but on this hand it looks like GIB is playing against like 8% that trumps are 4-0

when using your home GIB are you just loading it into the apps as lin or pbn or are you using the bridge.exe command line?

probably it should just say either the law or 0-14 hcp

sure just like all those other discussions we have about free bids etc if GIB thinks its partner has 11+ hcp there isnt one thing we can do about it we know it doesnt make sense, but someone needs to change it

yes hand came up like this in vugraph yesterday perfect 1NT call by north, south is only balancing but tough choice by south for either double or just 1NT I know when I balance on these auctons GIB doesnt like bids on good 4 card major like AKXX or AKJX so I just keep plugging away at 1NT 11-14hcp

What???? wasnt there a pass in there? GIB always seems to forget that his partner passed so he takes the bid like his partner never passed see this alot in NT auctions 1NT pass pass bid pass pass 2NT GIB almost always takes these as invitational still even though partner passed

yes typical the humans always bid different than GIB does. didnt you just post this hand where NS were in 4♠? there really is no happy landing spot on this hand for NS, unfortunately :(

yes maybe a little heavy for its call would guess its the THE LAW but interesting hand one of those Rodwellian quach hands inthe ♥ suit and if defending 4♥ NS cant touch ♣ suit since its frozen

how about the lead!!!! :ph34r: GIB just never likes to lead what it has! most humans are either leading a ♦ which brings up back to the J♦ most likely getting played at trick one or people follow the Soloway rule that holding 5-4 lead 4 bagger are leading a ♠ but come on 8♥ lets get real

when did this result happen , did a search in my hands for both you and kibbeh and couldnt find the hand i was curious about the results I would imagine 4♥-1 would be avg plus plus

I prefer your call cause it puts more pressure on the opponents x should be more a hand where you show that suit and likely hood of playing in another cue bid should be 3 suit take out too many times playing with GIB you can really bid your suit over 1NT and what it does is it leaves a transfer or way of opps showing their suits at a lower level, thats why GIBs crappelletti system is so unworkable.
