In simplified TSAR the sequence 1d-1s;2d-2h;2s is undefined left to partnership agreement. With 6322 and 3 spades you should bid 2NT and then clarify the 3 card suit if pd relays with 3c. About raising with 3 cards in the major I'd never do that but I know that many good players do it.

Zar... Zar... Zar... You don't need zar to reach this game :-) After 1h-2h opener has a 5 loser hand, so there's no reason to pass 2h, use whatever you have in your bag of conventions to invite, showing a side suit with 2s or a shot suit with 3d. No matter what you show responder with 10HCP will accept the invitation. 1h-2h Foo! - 4h Life is simple.

As you know I don't double with voids, so I'd bid 2c. It shows an excellent alternate lead to hearts and maybe pd has a club fit. Why is not 2c in the options, there're some strange options in the poll...

In my modest opinion PC is an improvement over SAYC. It's a standard system that has as many variations and conventions an options as SAYC but the general structure is really better. I'd recommend it for beginners instead of SAYC since it's better and easier to play. 2/1 is just a variation of SAYC where 2/1 bids are game forcing. And we can't compare to the zillion versions of precision.

Fielded Psyche vs New Player vs View Taken
luis replied to mpefritz's topic in BBO Tournament Directors Forum
This merits an automatic suspension. -
Let's say they bid to 7 of a suit and you have a singleton in a side suit. Your pd will be the leader Would you double 7x ? Since you have a singleton you may have had a void and declarer might scramble to 7NT where you may have more chances of defeating the contract.... Would you do the same if they are in 6x instead of 7? When? How do you react on the other side? When do you pull to NT if the make a lightner double? Do you consider the double a possible bluff? Luis

Cue bid the Blackwood
luis replied to 1eyedjack's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I play first/second round controls indisctincly so we may have the control in all the suits and be missing two aces. Thus RKCB is still needed. -
Exactly flame, specially when you are vul since you don't want to bid 2h or 3h.

Agree with Free.

Redouble?, am I too old fashioned (althoug I am only 24) or redouble makes a forcing sequence for us forcing us to either play or double opponents? Since pd is a third hand opener, if he rebids his major when you redouble there's no forcing situation at all. Opener may not have opening values. Seems like it is a favourable situation for our side
-
Pass, if pd doesn't know what he is doing we'll talk later.
-
1) Yes, 1d crystal clear to me 2) 2h and 3h are pointless and dangerous being vulnerable I think I will redouble 1h to see what happens, now south may have a problem what do they play over this redouble? 3) I find the bidding at both tables horrible. Luis

In this position I won't double 2c with a void, pd can have a club suit so I only double with 1/2/3 clubs so leaving the double is an option and not a guess if pd has clubs. I bid 3c unassuming cuebid.
-
Automatic pass. Passed pd + Not vulnerable = Not worth risking a double. I'd double if VUL even if pd is a passed hand. I'd double if pd is not a passed hand no matter the vulnerability.

I wonder why so many players try to create conventions for hands that will never happen. It's a waste of bidding space, memory and resources. 5NT. Pick a slam, if pd bids 6c I correct to 6d showing diamonds and spades.
-
4c I have enough offensive values to use leaping michaels.
-
I've never liked "Serious" 3NT so I think the non-serious approach is really better. If you do have slam interest you can always cuebid when your pd also shows interest. I think that 3NT to show a hand that can't cuebid but has "some" interest is a very good approach. Thanks Misho! Luis

Wha is the name of this defensive convention?
luis replied to soldatoJ's topic in Non-Natural System Discussion
Maybe the proper name would be "Raptor-1100" :-) -
Ben I think all your calculations are wrong this time, West announced a 6 card major, they seem to be playing woolsey so he has a one suited hand with a 6 card major. So the only distributions to be considered are 6322 and 6331 the club finesse is 1 in 8. If you play 3 hearts and west follows to the 3 rounds it's 1 in 3. If west discards in the 2nd or third round the club finesse is close to 0%.
-
2s if it is fourth suit forcing to game. This usually shows support for opener's second suit but in this particular case I don't care since the hand is either a slam or grand slam for us so I prefer to take the slow route, let pd clarify what kind of hand he has.
-
Jahol: I think the fact that west showed a 6 card major doesn't make enough merit for a club finesse, I think it even increases the chances of clubs breaking! Why? See: For a one-suited hand with a 6 card major West can have 6331 or 6322, there're 4 6331 distributions and 4 6322 distributions for a total of 8 only in 1 of 8 west has a singleton club, when he has a 6331 with just 1 club. I think you should play the 3 heart tricks first, if west discards in the second or third round he is likley to be 6322 or 6331 and clubs break 3-2. If west follows to 3 rounds of hearts then it's still ok to play clubs from the top but if you play the finesse you will have some simpathy (not from me). Finally: Free, your line is ansolutely wrong, first of all no need to finesse in clubs and finessing to east, the player who is likely to be long doesn't make any sense at all. You are down if west has the dA with 9 top tricks. Makes no sense at all.

IMO 2d is "forcing but doesn't promise a rebid" so when I bid 2d I can pass if pd a. Rebids 2s b. Supports my suit with 3d c. Bids 2NT So I do bid 2d and if pd bids 2h that is forcing. So over 2h I bid 3d since I don't have any other option. Luis

Uday, What about marking in red specs with the same IP as a player playing? What about letting the TD forbid kibitzers with the same IP as a player?
-
Exactly because he is minimum Free, quantitative slam invitations must be done over limited hands or else you wouldn't know if you can win 7. Since opener twice limited his hand I think it is sensible to play 5h as a slam try. For example: xx AKxxx Axxx xx is better than Ax KJxxx Qxxx Qx Since pd may have something like: KQJxx Qxx Kxx AKxx Can you win 7? No because pd can't have sA, hAK, dA for his minimum. Can you win 6? Yes you can but note that you are laydonw in 6 with hand 1 (11HCP) and not with hand 2 (12 HCP). So this is not about point but about controls and location of honors.
