  1. Humor: Some special endplays: "Miami Endplay": An endplay in the last trick "Jamaica Endplay": An endplay that can't work "Irish endplay": Endplaying the wrong opponent "Phantom endplay": Endplaying an opponent who is not endplayed at all (exit card) "Chinese endplay": Endplay for down only 1 "Pseudo endplay": Making an opponent believe he is endplayed
  2. Pass. 6HCP should be enough to let pd play 1NT in confort. Pd can have a doubleton in spades and 5 clubs or diamonds and I can put him in a very bad contract if I transfer to spades. And It's more difficult to compete for the opponents if I pass 1NT they don't know what's going on.
  3. Maybe late but here ar my answers: 1) Diamond Ten 2) Pass 3) Pass 4) Pass 5) Double 6) Abstain :-)
  4. 2H I think this is enough for a direct 2H raise. Good 3 cards in hearts with an honor, a ruffing value, and something on the side. Pd will know he can lead hearts if they win the hand and can compete to 3h if he has a 6 card suit. If I bid 1NT and they win the hand I have passed no valuable information to pd.
  5. Perfect for the overcalling system I'm playing: (1s) 2c (Clubs or Clubs and Hearts) 2d (relay) 2n (clubs one suited) [2h would have been c+h canape, 2s=c+h with longer clubs) 3d (relay) 3N (2-2-2-7) 4d (CRASH Asking bid) [4c would have started denial cuebids] 4n (Two aces of the same color) 5c (Asking again) 6c (hK and cK) 7c (Signoff) :-)) Luis If you are interested in this overcalling system I can start a thread, basically we use power doubles (16+ any shape), 1NT as a takeout double of their opening bid and overcalls that show either the suit bid or a two suiter eliminating the opening bid suit and the next higher suit which is used as a relay.
  6. I would have bid 3NT directly at MPs, I suspect the sA or sK is in my pd's hand based on the bidding. Since it is MPs I try 3NT, can't be worst than a bottom.
  7. 1NT only because of the position, looks like a clear 1d opening in first or second position at any vulnerability because I have two aces, problems in two suits and bad intermediates in the short suits. In the posted conditions 1NT has a nice preemptive effect so I think it is ok.
  8. Late because I was outside :-) Happy birthday Misho!
  9. Double here as well, the only bid that doesn't promise some spade tolerance.
  10. You are not missing anything :-) I think that invitational bids are sub-optimal after a two suiter. Overcaller usually has what he thinks is a "normal" two suiter so when does he "Accepts" when not? Better bid to what responder thinks he can make and when that's slightly overboard it either makes or is a good save against something. I reckon an invitation can work in some particular hands but in the long run I prefer not to bother about invitations.
  11. Ok this is what I play: Suit at level: Simple preference. Jump in a suit: Mixed raise, preemptive or semi-preemptive. Usually 9 trumps. 2N/3NT: Asking for the best suit. Cuebid: Transfer to 3NT either to play or to show a slam try in a suit. Jump in a new suit : Values in the remaining suit and a game forcing raise in one of the suits. New suit: Forcing. Natural. So: #1 (1♦)-2♦-(P)-? 2h/2s: preference 2NT: Asking for best suit 3c: Natural and forcing. 3d: Please bid 3NT (freakish hands can skip 3N) 3h/3s: Mixed 3NT: Asking for best suit (at the 4 level) 4c: Values in clubs and a GF raise in a major #2 (1♠)-2NT-(P)-? 3c/3d: preference 3h: Natural and forcing: 3s: Please bid 3NT 3N: Pick a minor 4c/4d: Mixed 4h: GF raise in a minor, values in hearts. #3 (1♥)-P-2([di)-DBL (pass)-? I think this is a whole different situation since pd can be even 4-4 in the remaining suits or have a strong one-suited hand or others. :-) Luis
  12. Flame: I think that if you want to transmit the message "I want to bid 4h pd but please don't bid 5h" you should bid 3NT and not 3s. But maybe this is too subtle.
  13. I respect your judgement Free but ... are you playing with a psycho? Unless they didn't say something about substances consumed by our pd how can we imagine he is bidding 2h in sandwich on nothing ? :-) I think pd has two aces and that's why he didn't open 2h, probably something like A, Axxxxx, xx, xxxx
  14. Not a 2NT bidder but if 2NT is doubled and passed around I think the best option is to play 2NT doubled. Pass
  15. Use your head. ZAR and other bunch of methods are only a bad solution, a ridiculous attempt to mechanize judgement a task that we know is impossible. Weak players try to achieve expert judgement by using ZAR and other fancy methods, I accept they can improve your biding over normal point-count buy what they really need is to learn how to evaluate hands regardless of points, ZAR and other stuff. There's no evaluation method better than human judgement.
  16. 2s (doubtful) Probably passing 2d is the best option but I can't eliminate the chance to play a 5-2 fit instead of a 4-2 fit.
  17. I bid 2h at Mps. I double at IMPs. At MPs when holding 5h if I don't double there's no way to compete to 3h when pd has 3 card support for hearts and that can be the key to win the board. At IMPs this is a crystal-clear double.
  18. Sorry I'm late with my comments, It was a national holiday yesterday here in Argentina :-) 1) I open 1s, Ron's comments are an excellent summary of the reasons. 2) I bid 5d on the way to 5s since I have 0 tricks maybe 5cx is better but I can't stand it. 3) I play the sT from dummy when I know for sure the sA is offside. Luis
  19. 6d should transmit the right message I think. Looks like a simple 6d bid to me.
  20. If you need me for such an event in the BIL or the main club I will be there. Luis PS: After June 13 (Vacation 'til then)
  21. I think the problem is your evaluation of QT986. To me is actually an excellent suit. Only QJT98 would be better. Why? Because QT986 is an offensive holding in the suit, so you will want to play the hand. I say it is offensive because you can make 3/4 tricks in the suit opposite nothing and you can't take any tricks on defense. On the other side AK543 is worst because you have 2/3 offensive tricks but 2 defensive tricks as well. QJT is the most offensive heading for a suit. And QT9 is close. Luis
  22. Spwdo, I didn't understand a single word of what you said but it wasn't my intention to hurt you. I just suggested that there should be a way to distinguish real TDs from amateurs/hosts. Luis
