  1. If that works perhaps it could be tweaked for style points... When the 1st table finishes the 1st leg, use PC#4 to link to that match (invisibly?), and you'll be ready to rip for the second leg...and so forth...
  2. Tricky... As noted previously, you obviously aren't going to get comparative scores during the first 'leg'. But an improvement on having the operator enter the previous results manually during the second leg may be possible. However, you might need 6 PCs (actually, with clever shuffling I think 4 will suffice - and I know you have those ;)). Leave the first leg broadcasts running until the second leg starts (if not possible, quit the broadcast without properly 'closing' it so you can restart them later just prior to the 2nd leg), then take PC#4 and 'connect' to PC#1's broadcast as if broadcasting the closed room. Once that's done, take PC#1, end it's existing broadcast and, again, reconnect to PC#2's broadcast. Then end #2's broadcast and use it to connect to PC#3's broadcast. You can quit #3's broadcast then. Slightly easier if you had 6 PCs Hopefully you'll manage to retain all the bidding and play from the 1st leg during the broadcast of the 2nd leg this way. Regards, me. P.S. Is it possible to broadcast using BBOTV/FLASH? you might get away only 3 PCs in that case assuming a sufficient number of operator accounts provides the facility to log in multiple times from one PC. P.P.S. funny you posted this today - I played my first triangle match yesterday!
  3. Yes, North really did pass, though with only four Spades (South had ♠KQJ762 ♥J8432 ♦93 ♣-).
  4. [hv=d=e&v=n&w=s9ha765dkt652cq95&e=sa8hkdaq87cak7432]266|100|Scoring: IMP East opens 1♣ (3+) South overcalls 2♣ (Majors)[/hv] You are having a horrid day in a teams tournament, and things are about to get worse LOL. Playing 'Dodgified Standard American', which includes a basic Unusual Vs Unusual, the first decision for mine here seems to be whether to bid 2♦ or 2♠. The shape looks good, and the values reasonable, but the suit itself is a bit iffy. Maybe 2 outta 3 aint bad, but I chose 2♦. What happened next is too painful to describe, but it got me wondering... What do East's bids now mean? Can UvU be 'extended' such that 2♥ would be a strong hand with good ♣s and 2♠ be a cue-raise for ♦s? Or are these bids better reserved for something else? Do you have an agreement for this kind of situation? How would you bid this? Thanks, Justin.
  5. In an 'unclocked' tourney, the first (2/4/6?) tables to finish the round are advanced immediately to the next round, so if your table was particularly fast (or slow), you'll be joined by players from other fast/slow tables, with a higher probability of including players from your own previous table, not a random selection from the entire field. Usually this evens out to some degree eventually as some of the originally 'fast' players have a slow board or delays while the 'slowies' manage to catch up and vice-versa. If it was a clocked tourney, it's just an odd coincidence.
  6. about 0.7% 2C. 4C. 5C very tempting. 3N.
  7. supplementary question, same hand, 2♦ opening instead...
  8. In contrast to mere normal pedantitry. Pedantitude? Pedanticness? Pedantination? Pedantosity? What is the word for the state of being pedantic? Pederast you might want to check that LOL I think the word for the state of being pedantic is, uh, 'pedantic'. A practitioner of pedantry is a 'pedant'. A pederast is something else completely: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/pederast
  9. The directory referred to is used for import/export functions, I think. I believe your online 'enemies' are stored on the BBO server (so as to be available if you use a different computer)
  10. not sure if it's rational, but I kinda like a responsive Double followed by some # of ♥s
  11. Tournament descriptions include 'clocked, barometer', but not 'Swiss'
  12. Refresh oddities... The tournament finished SEVERAL minutes ago - yet the last table is still displayed in my browser window. If I try to join it I get a message 'error. could not join table'. I noticed something similar when a player had 'disconnected' - the old player name remained displayed in red when viewing the table list despite having been substituted.
  13. I am kibitzing a tournament table, in the bottom left-hand corner it says "round 3 of 3 complete", even though they are only playing the 8th board out of nine.
  14. I voted 1S open, but it's borderline. Replace a K with QJ and I'd Pass. My regular F2F partner knows I may have stretched. I don't hate my rebids. Apparently, if I'm playing with Csaba or Helene, as I sometimes do, I might have to rethink this and Pass - but I usually play somewhat unusual systems (e.g. EHAA) with them so I might have other options - it probably qualifies as a 1NT (or 2♠) opener.
  15. Marlowe is the only bidder to suggest anything other than 2NT. Exactly HOW one takes-out here is apparently a matter of agreements...my first instinct was to bid 2♠ (I would think 2NT suggests longer ♣s than ♥s). So, what are everyones agreements about Dbl, 2♠, and 2NT in this situation? Thanks, Justin.
  16. jdonn, i think hog's comments was referring to btw the quote han attributed to board 18 was actually board 20, and ditto 28 should be 29?
  17. LOL, I just beat my 50% quit record. Indy, MP, 52 boards (13 rounds). 109 starters, 44 of whom finished - about a 60% quit rate. More than 137 substitutions were required. I know that running a tourney this long is asking for more than the usual amount of trouble, but this is the sort of nightmare that anyone who wanted to run a 'serious' open event on BBO faces. Don't try this at home.
  18. wow, i get 2 threads ;)... http://forums.bridgebase.com/index.php?showtopic=24222&hl=
  19. :) thanks. as this thread is devoted to me, i can hijack all i like, right? I am pleased to report that the Queensland Bridge Association threw me a wonderful week-long party last week, under the cunning guise of the Gold Coast Congress. Cheryl and I finished 2nd/42 in the Novice Pairs, and 2nd/22 in the Novice Teams. we also ate and drank far too much. Vive! Oink!
  20. I've seen you post this several times, what does it mean? I suspect it means "I posted something here but changed my mind/realised my post was silly/posted in the wrong thread/something else such that I chose to delete the post but can't actually do that so I'll just edit the post to '...'"
  21. LMAO how sweet  fwiw, I did not actually disagree with opening 1NT, I said it was 'Dodgy'. This is, of course, high praise LOL.
  22. Can GIB fill in when a player leaves mid-round and/or fill-out an individual field with a non-multiple-of-four players? No, GIB is not available to play in normal tournaments.
  23. I would think that, given BBOs stated rules, any player registering for any tourney IS giving an assurance that they will, if at all possible, complete the tourney and accept the penalties for failing to do so. I'm simply asking for the proscribed penalties to be enforced! Your 'bond' should, according to those rules, be your right to play in any future tourneys.
