  1. not true, on BBO if a table is set such that it allows kibs to chat with players, private chat between between kibs and players is indeed possible.
  2. I'll remember to include 'dodgy' option on the poll next time 'Other' covers it adequately
  3. I just gave this a quick try with a tourney I had created using BBOWIN. When I edited the tourney using BBOflash, it removed the 'include list' option I had set. It seems that BBOflash handles this differently, presumably a consequence of flash's inability to access files local to my PC. This is a bit unfortunate. The flash interface for creating include/exclude lists is a little cumbersome. My includelist currently contains nearly 4000 IDs, having to enter them one-by one would, well, suck. I do wonder if exclude lists work any differently (better?) with BBOflash vs. BBOwin. Also the description text got out of whack. Instead of appearing as: ...it looked like: ...which meant that BBOwin users could not see the latter half of the text (not sure about BBOflash users). Regards, Justin.
  4. Thanks everyone for the replies. Yes, assume a 14-16/15-17/16-18/15-18 type range. This is the SAYC-2/1 forum after all. FWIW I voted '"yes" (perhaps I should have included 'wtp'), and have posted this on someone else's behalf. @jillybean: LOL. There is a bit of 12-14 around these parts, smartypants, and I'll play 10-12 sometimes, but that's not relevant to this. :)

  6. I'll be there ! Note that my BBO ID is "MrDodgy" (no period or space), but I'm sure Helene is well aware of that (can't try registering now).

  8. Yeah, gotta agree with this. I have seen dozens of people annoyed by this new ad today.
  9. *sigh* I recently did some testing - again - to determine how many names I could have in an exclude list before it failed. I was rather surprised, to say the least, when an exclude list with ONE name on it was unable to prevent that ID from registering :P . What the?
  10. aargh, I played that 4♥ contract so pitifully and it was your birthday? Sorry! Many happies :-x
  11. Hmmm, I play UvU, and this hand still feels like a bit if a 'tweener... X for penalty with ♣AKxx? GF with ♠s, considering the utter lack of support for P's ♥s and, indeed, less than stellar suit? I'll have to concur with the other posters, South's doubles are OK, North should trust and pass 3♣X. Not convinced we're beating it by 2 though, and we might be missing a game, so I'm not really sure, as usual.
  12. You'll get a better buzz from nutmeg ;)
  13. We call it Oh Heck. No apologies to Jilly. If you look this game up on Wikipedia, it has many names. And many scoring variations. I first came across it in '84 and we called it "Game with No Name" because the chap that taught the group of us at work didn't know what it was called - he'd learnt it on holiday in Spain from someone else who also didn't know what it was called. :) Indeed, my father taught me how to play 'Oh Hell', and other the years I have discovered that many people know this game by disparate names - 'Up and Down The River' is another. We eventually decided that within the family it would be known as 'Gin and Tonic' because of this polynomenclature (Douglas Adams fans will understand). A variation we use applies when there is only one card dealt to each player, whereby the player shows their card to all the other players by placing it face-out on their forehead without seeing it themselves until after having made their bid. We include a Joker, I'll bid one.
  14. Still some glitches with kibbing tourneys barometer display? Not, I suppose, a fatal flaw but peculiar: http://users.tpg.com.au/adslhl2i//bboflashkibnew.jpg note the odd % display (it's an IMP tourney; yeah the pic could be better) and partial display of results when I kib a table in a tournament i have just finished.
  15. I just witnessed something odd. I'm not sure if it's bug, per se, but... I like the 'substitute any' option :) I was a sub in a TM just now, our table finished well ahead of the the other. While I was playing, the barometer seemed to be working fine. When we finished, I went to kibitz the other table, it seemed to completely stop updating. i.e. it was a 38-board match. When my table finished, they were playing board 33 at the other table. the 'other table' contract, results, and scores were there for boards 1-32, but nothing for boards 33 onwards. The following screenshots were taken moments apart, as the 'other table' was on the final board: http://users.tpg.com.au/adslhl2i//BBOFLASHBAROMETERGLITCH2.jpg http://users.tpg.com.au/adslhl2i//BBOFLASHBAROMETERGLITCH1.jpg
