I think it is time to get a new teacher!
-
You are south in 6H, playing IMPS. The play so far: [hv=pc=n&s=sA2hAQT963dK32cA3&n=s43hKJ74dAQ4CQT65&d=n&v=0&b=666&a=1Cp2H%28strong%29p3Hp4NTp5H%282%20without%20Q%29p5Np6Hppp&p=sks3sJsAhah2h4h5h3c2hkh8dad5d2d8dqd6d3djd4d7dkc4s2sqs4s5c7]399|300[/hv] What do you play from dummy? Adv/+ please refrain from posting early (unless posting to point out flaws etc).
-
I am curious. What was the full hand?
-
Upon reading this, I was thinking wtp?... then realized this is MP. Can't see anything other than dummy reversal + minor suit squeeze (as Jlall has written).
-
You can also cater to some 4-1 splits, and I am guessing that is point of this hand.

Bidding is 80% of bridge

And counting is the other 100% :) -
Does this lead problem have an obvious solution?
Trumpace replied to Cascade's topic in Expert-Class Bridge
Don't understand the club lead. Doesn't the SA rate to cash? The 6D bidder also bid rkcb, and it is not as if declarer needs to establish any tricks in spades for a club discard. Shouldn't we be afraid of the spade trick going away on hearts/clubs? If club lead does set up a trick for us, the only time it gains is when declarer _needs_ to knock out the SA. Since SA rates to cash, in any other case (when partner gets in to cash a club), the SA lead is at least as good as a club. What am I missing? -
2D was alerted as a 4 card raise (nothing about diamonds). On a low(ish) spot lead, RHO putting in the 8 from Q8x(xx) might be possible, but I discounted that possibility.
-
Nice :)
-
Did you really win the D lead with the K? I guess to play low, mainly based on absence of heart or club lead. I am guessing LHO probably holds something like Qxx, AQxxx, Qxx, Qx

e^{\frac{-1}{1-x^2}}

Thanks, that is a useful information, I will see if I can reproduce it myself. One more question, did you have the tool read the allowed.txt or reject.txt when that happened? What kind of reject was it? Team invite/Tourney/Request to join table/...? Also, sorry I should have been clearer and not used abbreviations. You can personal message me, not post it here. This forum supports personal messages, which is practically like email between two BBO forums members. No one else can see them.
-
Strange! I can see it. gwnn seemed to have similar problems too...
-
Can you pm me the names (from the reject_log.txt) and the names from the reject.txt?
-
Too strong for 1S for me :( Just Axxx with partner and we have a good chance of 4S. Maybe double and bid NT is an option if partner does not show spades.
-
defensive bidding
Trumpace replied to babalu1997's topic in General Bridge Discussion (not BBO-specific)
I might regret posting this... what is the point of this thread? A lot of random people on BBO don't have a clue about bidding and don't know it. -
You seem to have gone out on a limb there. Not kneeded though.
-
Is this a reverse ?
Trumpace replied to mangurian's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
I believe OP is talking about the 2H bid promising another bid and OP's partner bidding 2NT knowing it won't be passed... As to original question, there are some questions that need to be answered I suppose. How much does 2C promise? Would 1C - (1S) - X show hearts? In any case 2H is not a reverse. -
Nice one. I can't believe I didn't consider that, especially given the puzzle which started this thread!
-
Thanks, glad you liked it :)
-
Yes, on the first hand the T9 of clubs gives you a 100% chance of making the contract. On the second, thanks to the lead, you can conveniently lose a trick to East, give you a chance of trying for 3-3 clubs. I guess these hands are a reasonable example of: "think about the whole hand at trick 1".
-
This seems impossible! Can you please post a hidden hint?
-
You are South, declarer in 5H in both the hands below. Opening lead is the spade 4 in both the hands. Hand 1) [hv=pc=n&s=s2haqt9654d84c542&n=sa53hkj87dk9cakt9]133|200[/hv] Hand 2) [hv=pc=n&s=s2haqt9654d84c542&n=sa53hkj87dk9cak67]133|200[/hv] Plan the plays. As usual Adv/+ please refrain from spoiling too early.

Flameous has it! Pio almost had it, and I am pretty sure kuhchung was thinking the same thing. Glad you guys enjoyed this hand as much as I did.
