  1. [hv=n=sakxxhk87xdxxxxct&w=sjxxhjxdqjxxcxxxx&e=stxxhq9xxxdaxckqx&s=sqxxhatdktxcaj9xx]399|300|[/hv] Compared to the OP, I changed ♣8 to a small ♣. I think that was the real hand!! RHO did overcall 1♥. How I played this...I'm not sure if that play was ok, so any critics are welcome! LHO leads ♥J taken be the ♥K in Hand. I played a ♠ to the ♠A in dummy and did let ♣T ride (RHO did not cover). Then I played 4 rounds of ♠ (I expected LHO to have 4c♠ if they would be 4-2 and probably I could keep him of lead. Maybe playing ♠ would take away RHO exit card later??) Now I played a low ♥ for ♥Q and ♥T. RHO did return ♣K that I took with the ♣A and I returned a ♣ to RHO's ♣Q. RHO now played ♦A and a ♦, and I took ♦K and a ♣. My partner was VERY disappointed that I didn't make ♥K. Should I have played this differently?
  2. So I made it? Yes, but you made me doubt if I had ♣AJ98x. I now think that it was ♣AJ9xx.
  3. Yes, support REDBL. I'll add it in original post.
  4. MP's 1♦-(Pass)-1♥-(DBL) REDBL-(Pass)-Pass-(2♠) 3♦/Pass/DBL..?? RDBL=support ReDBL Opps bidding is not very clear, but you can expect opp to have an opening with a 6-card ♠. If opener has a good 6-card ♦. What is the strength of the 3♦ bid and what should normally be done with a stonger hand and no ♠ stopper? (At the table I was the 1♥ bidder and had an opening. Bidding would have been easier if I would have bid 3NT iso passing the REBDL).
  5. ♣T holds. What now? Heart 10, planning to let it ride if not covered. If covered, and if RHO follows, I cover and return the 8 back, ditching a club. Now what? Or, did I guess wrong about how hearts behave? It was RHO who overcalled 1♥ and he would cover the T with ♥Q
  6. ♣T holds. What now?
  7. [hv=d=n&v=n&n=sakxxhk87xdxxxxct&s=sqxxhatdktxcaj98x]133|200|Scoring: MP[/hv] You can comment on the bidding, but will have to accept the final contract of 3NT: 1♦-(1♥)-DBL-(Pass) 1♠-(pass)-2♥-(Pass) 2♠-(pass)-3NT-All pass opps are not very strong. LHO leads ♥J I played and made 3NT, but doubt that my line was good. I hope somebody will take the challenge. What is your plan? I'll tell what happens after every step.

    DBL

"informatiedoublet" is Dutch for t/o dbl. I don't think the problem is understanding the term "info dbl". I think the problem is understanding why such a bid would be appropriate when we've found a fit. Possibly the OP + partner are worried about being in a 4-3 fit (assuming this is in the context of 4cM) perhaps? If that is the case, I wouldn't - spades are usually five even in a 4cM system. Nick Not worried about 4-3 fit, we play 5cM. Worried about going to 3♠ with a singleton ♣ when partner has ♣ and 3♣X or 3♦X would be better contracts for us then 3♠

    DBL

Instead of bidding 3♠, DBL in case partner has ♣'s.

    DBL

I have that same feeling at IMP's, but at MP's I would prefer an info DBL. As I said we play mostly info DBL's: Thereofr it is maybe best to keep this one also info? (We had the 2nd bidding at IMP's and I had something like xxx=xxx=KJxx=Axx and passed. Partner had a singleton ♣ and 3♣X made +1).

    DBL

It feels like both DBL's should be the same. If one is (not) penalty then the other should also be (not) penalty?

    10 Spades

Thanks for the answers. I also opened 4♠ (considering 5 and 6). I didn't expect this to be passed out, but maybe one of the opps will DBL and the other opp will not have a good bid and will pass the DBL. It was at the club, but I didn't know the opps...maybe they were not very good and will take the wrong decision over 4♠, so why 5? bidding : 4♠-(DBL)-All pass. LHO was strong. RHO had a void in ♠ and a 7-card ♦ and opps can make 5♦. Partner had ♣AK.. and ♠Jx. 5♠X= Not sure what the best opening was against strong opps. Probabbly they would not pass the DBL. So maybe it is best then to open 4♠ and bid 5♠ over 5♦...Maybe RHO wants to bid ♦'s twice and is it better to give him that possibility by opening 3♠?
  13. I would think partner has a good ♠-♣ 2-suiter.
  14. Similar bidding: [hv=d=s&n=skxhkxdaqtxxc98xx&s=sjxhaqxdjxcaktxxx]133|200|Scoring: XIMP[/hv] South opened 1♣ (openings are 5=5=4=2, 1♣ is 2+ card). North bid 3NT, protectecting twice Kx, to play (typically 12-14 pts). 3NT is passed out. Lead is a small ♠ for the K to North. Making 3NT+4. Should bidding be different here?
  15. 3=v=v=Kxx 8=x=v=xx v=v=T97=x v=v=J84=x I you play a ♠, RHO discards his ♣ and you ruff, then you still have to loose 2 tricks? shouldn't you play a ♣ and underuff next trick if RHO ruffs with a high ♦?
  16. [hv=d=s&s=saqtxxxxxxxhdxcxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] What do you open? How is vulnerability and level/agressiveness of your opps influencing your opening.

    DBL

I play mostly Info DBL's with my partner. What should DBL be here and how do you play DBL here: 1♠-(2♦)-2♠-(Pass) Pass-(3♣)-DBL? and 1♠-(2♦)-2♠-(Pass) Pass-(3♣)-Pass-(Pass) DBL? Maybe it would be interesting to have a pinned topic with all DBL cases to verify with a partner.
  18. My partner and I play that if we confirmed a fit in the minors then 4 in that minor is RKC. With confirmed ♣-fit, 4♣ is RKC for ♣ With confirmed ♦-fit, 4♦ is RKC for ♦ This has following disadvantages: 1) easier to forget as 4m sounds very natural. 2) not always clear if a fit is confirmed or not. Eg: 1♦-1♠ 2♣-2♦ ..Is fit confirmed or is this false preference. 1♣-2♣ ...We play inverted minors, but open 5-5-4-2 and 1♣ can be doubleton. Is there a better RKC for minors, without these disadvantages?

    Play 3NT

Maybe he had better played another ♠ before playing the ♣.

    Play 3NT

LHO was 2254. I errored by cashing ♣A before playing another ♠.
  21. ..Was this question too easy or too difficult? Or is there no 'standard' for 5♣ here?
  22. kgr

    Play 3NT

Yes, they would DBL with a normal take-out DBL No, they will bid all reasonable 4-4 major hands.
