  1. Actually this will not make me sleep better. I will ask my partner how the play really went. I hope he played: ♠QTKx :P
  2. Not sure. (I also wonder if partner really played QKT) But is there discouraging (3) and encouraging (8) and asking a switch by doing so?
  3. You lead ♠2 - 4th best - against 3NT. Partner takes the Q which hold and returns ♠K. Dummy has something like: x=xxx=AQxxx=KQxx What agreement do you have on signals on partner's return in your 4 card? Does a small ♠ ask a ♥ switch here? PS: Full hand was something like: [hv=n=skqtxhjtxxdxxcxxx&w=sxhxxxdaqxxxckqxx&e=saxxxhaxdkjxcjxxx&s=sj832hkqxxdxxxcax]399|300|[/hv] East playing 3NT made mistake of holding up ♠'s 3 times, but still we didn't find the ♥ switch
  4. [hv=d=w&n=sxhaqj9xdkqxxcjxx&s=sakxxxhxxxdaxxxcx]133|200|Scoring: MP[/hv] The bidding (MP's) was: (1♣)-1♥-(DBL)-1♠ (1NT)-P-(P)-2♥ All Pass (1♠ forcing) 2♥+3 ...We both agreed that - even at MP's - we should have done more. (East - a beginner/intermediate - had 4 Spades and 4 HCP) Q: What should 1♠ forcing, followed by 2♥ mean? Can it be weak looking for better fit in ♠ or is it always game interest?
  5. Yes, having read the forums I supposed this is standard. ...We also play new suits on one level forcing, on 2-level without jump not forcing. 2♠ would be a fit-jump.
  6. [hv=d=w&s=sakxxxhxxxdaxxxcx]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] (1C)-1H-(DBL)-?? What do you bid now (you can assume 2H,2NT,2C,3C are all raises - 2C can be GF if no raise)
  7. 01:00:00 p.m. Sunday October 7, 2007 in PST8PDT converts to 10:00:00 p.m. Sunday October 7, 2007 in Europe/Brussels ...or is PST8PDT not the same as PDT? (I'll not be able to make it anyway).
  8. [hv=d=n&s=skq9xxxhktxxxxxdc]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] I held this hand an the bidding started: 1♦-1♠!-(2♣) 3NT- 1♠: 4+♥ (and longer ♥'s then ♠'s) ...Next time with a 6/7 I'll bidd my highest first so that I can easily bid the 2nd suit next. I would have felt more comfortable with: 1♦-1♥!-(2♣) 3NT- 1♥: 4+♠ Now the bidding continued: 1♦-1♠!-(2♣) 3NT--4♥ 5♦!!-5♠ 5NT-All pass 1♠: 4+♥ 5♦: Without the 2♣ overcall 3NT would promise 18-19HCP and 4 card ♥. Partner thought I (or he) was wrong and therefore he corrected to 5♦. Maybe it is better if I bid 4/5/6 ♣ iso 4♥.

    Lead adjusted

ditto I'm very surprised by the ♣ lead after RHO said he has the ♣A. Isn't there a big risk to give away a trick by the ♣ lead (LHO or RHO having the Q)? I would a lead a ♠ through LHO's cue. Should CHO DBL 3 or 4♠ with ♠A?
  10. [hv=d=e&v=e&n=sq9653hq9843d4cq3&s=s72ha6dakqj932c84]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] 1♦-1♠ 3NT-4♥ 4♠ Result: 4♠-5 Playing with pick-up partner; Is 3NT with the South hand correct?
  11. sure, why not? South can't have this hand. REDBL shows a weak hand with minors? Something like: xx=x=xxxxx=xxxxx
  12. [hv=d=e&v=e&n=sak742hj3dkqtcq92&w=s63hkt96daj6cj843&e=s8hq754d875432ck5&s=sqjt95ha82d9cat76]399|300|Scoring: IMP 1S-6S[/hv] West leads ♠6 which I won with ♠Q and played a ♦ to the ♦K; followed by ♠A (East discarding ♦2). Now I played a small ♣ to the Ace; followed by ♣ to ♣9 (finessing the J) and went -1. How can I improve this play by simple thinking (I don't think I can work out all combinations at the table)?: - Play one more ♠ before tackling ♣'s? Maybe opps give me more info then, but I was afraid that I could need an entry back to Dummy. - Was my play really very bad? I took a succesful finesse on ♣J, but still coudn't make it? - According to suitplay the best play is small to the 9.
  13. AT76 vs Q92 Best play for 1 loser thanks Koen
  14. All votes for 3C so far. - What should partner bid with ♥Hx and ♣ stop; eg: AJxxx-Kx-xxx-Kxx or QT9xx-Kx-xxx-AQx - You probably have to pass if partner bids 3NT?
  15. 1H-(2C)-2S-(P) ? You hold 6-card H and 15HCP, e.g.: Qx-AQxxxx-AKx-xx and open 1H (5+card), LHO overcalls 2C and partner bids 2S forcing (10+HCP, 5+ card S). What is the best bid now?
  16. I prefer: - one hand per post (unless very related hands). My memory is so bad that I always have to scroll back to the first post when reading the answers. - bidding of opps between brackets and new line after 4 bids P-1D-2D-3D-4S-5D-5S-6D => Is easier to read if written like: (Pass)-1D-(2D)-3D (4S)-5D-(5S)-6D Thanks, Koen
  17. Is it imbicile to pass 1S? If you bid 1NT then you expect partner to bid 2D/3D. With only 2 Q's I would pass 1S.
  18. If you pass and partner has a distributional hand like this then he can still bid 4NT?
  19. That is a fast answer! .. Ok. Bidding was: p-(1S)-3D-(3S) 3NT-(4S)-p-(p) 5D-(DBL) 5DX -3 for a zero. (partner had ♠Ax and ♦Kxxx I made the 3D call because partner already passed and I prefered to preempt with the good diamonds. After the game I realized that 6-3-2-2 was a very bad distribution to do this. (and also the vulnerability). Tell me all how bid this bid was, so that I don't do it again ;) ...an would 3♦ with 1=3=6=3 .. 1=2=6=4 .. be better? Or do you need to be non vul to bid 3♦ with this 6-card? Thanks, Koen
  20. MP's/All Red You hold: xx-xx-AQJxxx-Kxx P-(1S)-?? 2D/3D/Pass? 2D=normal overcall (promising around opening) 3D=preemptive (Would you call be different if IMP's, playing against weak players... or is the call so obvious that it doesn't matter?)
  21. Yes, right!..sorry.. Seems like you should only not win with ♥A or K. (given the bidding that happened at the table 1H-(DBL)-RDBL-(1S) P-(p)-2H-(2S) 3H-All Pass that is probably the best play) ...Probably I would have made the contract if we didn't have ♦J :(
  22. [hv=n=sqjt9432htd2ct532&s=sak865haq843dkt9c]133|200|[/hv] These were the NS hands. I did bid 5♥ and my partner did bid 5♠. 5♠ made +2 after a ♣ lead. (The 5♣ bidder had: v-9762-AQJ-AQJ974)
  23. [hv=n=sj9hq93dkj83c&w=skt3h4dq976cq&e=s876hjt85dcj9&s=sahak762d5c65]399|300|[/hv] This is the situation when LHO leads a ♥. This is not really a squeeze, you have to duck to keep control. (At the table LHO started with a DBL and RHO did bid ♠ twice. That made this position less clear and I went 1 down. ...I don't think I would have found the duck if the bidding would have gone as given in the problem)
  24. [hv=n=sj94hq93dkj832ck3&s=saqhak762dt5c6542]133|200|[/hv] North Dealer; All green at IMP's the bidding goes: p-(p)-1H-(2D) 2H-(P)-p-(DBL) P-(2S)-3H-All Pass The play: LHO starts with a small ♠ which runs to your ♠Q. You now play ♦10 and LHO puts on the ♦A. LHO play a ♣ for the ♣K in dummy and RHO's ♣A. RHO continues with a ♠ for the ♠10 of LHO. LHO now plays a trump. This is the situation when LHO played the ♥ and you can loose one more trick: [hv=n=sj94hq93dkj832ck3&s=saqhak762dt5c6542]133|200|[/hv] How do you play from here? (If you play low from dummy then RHO plays the ♥8;If you would play the ♥9 he would cover with the ♥10).
