  1. west not know south has ♣A. why lead ♥ at trick 3? if west had ♠AQ5 then a ♣ ruff in dummy would promote a ♠trick. I therefore play for ♠ split 2-2 and play ♠K from dummy trick 4. If robot west has ♠AQ5 then they are more clever defenser than me.
  2. I played a few times in England at a club in my young days with a man who said that 4♣ was always a ace ask (Gerber?) whenever he bid it, when contract was Nts or suit! :) :) :) lol
  3. 6NT? you could be off 2 aces. so 6♥ would fail also. if you really feel that 6Nt is a better contract then west needs to trust partner and bid it after the lightner double with ♠Kx
  4. this sequence 1♦ - 2♣ is on border as opposite a minimum hand opener with bad fit game can be difficult. but if you play 2/1 then this hand has to be 2♣ response: both 1♥ or heavy 1Nt distort hand completely. the worst thing that will happen is that a few pairs may play in 3♣ or 2nt not playing 2/1 making. with 2/1 you have to accept some minimum hands opposite each other with automatic GF the bidding will end in a bad game. no bidding system is perfect.
  5. simple bidding with responder splinter 1♣ - 1♠ - 2♦ - 3♥ (splinter, good ♦ support) - 4♣ - 4♦ - 4♥(cue) - 4NT (rkcb) - 6♦ (3 key cards and a void) might miss grand if partner has ♣ akqxxx :(
  6. never weak, never strong (as will use 2Nt jacoby). so intermediate range where good trump support and shape can lead to slam
  7. would 3♦ be forcing here? those ♦s need a fit for slam to be bid. two problems: the ops will probably bid also, and how can you say to partner if he supports ♦s that a ♥ contract is what you want? not an easy hand. I agree hand is too strong for splinter, but maybe 4♣is best, and if partner bids 4♥ follow with 5♦. i hope partner will work out that I am heading for slam but worthless ♠ doubleton. he can then make decision.
  8. I am all for finding out for controls at a lower level, so those who think that 4♣ bid CRO is not good then all I say is that any slam bidding convention is not always perfect. all have some fault with different types of hand. the problem I find with some players is that they jump to these 4♣ CRO/4nt rkcb conventions too quickly probably through not enough experience or being lazy when there are other ways of exploring slam. before bidding 4♣/4nt you need to know what to do after. these conventions are there to save you guessing. with trump fits, it is just as important to know if both hands have mirror dead doubletons in one suit xx opposite qx. the difference bewteen an ace in one suit or another could be the difference between a made slam or a poor one.
  9. why reluctance rebid 1Nt? having stiff in responder suit should not stop you bidding no trumps. too many players make a big deal about it. rebid 2♦ with poor suit - no! rebid 2♥ with poor hand - no! xyz convention useful here when 1nt rebid.
  10. pass. lol. but if you psyche once then 2♣ (gf) would cause confusion, 3♣ might allow ops to find that slam
  11. 4♠ 4♠ 4♠ 4♠ slam is greedy. need extra special fit. keep simples. there is losing ♠s, losing ♥s, losing ♦ and a possible finesse. if I need a top score at mps or swing board at imps then only I would think 'slam'
  12. agree. except if p. (N) has opening values, game is not to be there, so even if you have X to show 13-16 bal. this hand is at the very bottom range. I don't like bidding weak nt hands 12-14 over weak bids at the two level except if they have more distribution then they would not qualify to open 1Nt! if the ops. had opened 1♥/1♠ then would you have a bid? answer, no. it's also likely that the ops are odds to find a poor part score as you are from finding a good one, let miss a game. some hands demand pass: this is one.
  13. probably light to X and bid ♠ as west. to strong for 2♠ overcall direct. maybe X their 3NT bid, then they run 4♥and then what? east is in better position to expose psyche with two entries ♣A and ♦K so east should X and if they run to 4♥, then east bid 4♠. but easy for me to say as I can see all hands. good psyche sometimes win.
  14. interesting analysis. but why does 6♣ show ♣K? no trump suit has been agreed after you bid 4♣, so what do the bids 4♦/ 5♦ or 4Nt mean here by partner after you bid 4♣? if partner has ♠Qxxx ♥x ♦AKQJ ♣xxxx is not a bid of 6♣ possible to? or have you a agreement if partner raises 4♣ to 6♣ it does show an honour akq card in a 3 card support.
  15. lol. east 2♥ bid is non advisable especially at mps vul. if ops have game then possible you go for -800/1100. if ops do not have game then -200/500. not great score at mps
  16. data entry error. it happen all around the world every day of the week :)
  17. I do not play with the robots, but I do not like 1NT rebid. opening 1Nt 15-17 with good 6 card minor is fine, but opening 1Nt with 12-14 with 6 good card minor I have seen never though best to get comment from player who plays acol, K-S. maybe it is ok with 12-14 but NOT as a rebid, only as an opening bid? I rebid 2♣ here. though I also agree that the robot bidding is crazy as you say.
  18. my bidding sequence with 2/1. north passes 11 count with 1 and 1/2 honour tricks and 5332, south opens 1NT, north bids 2♦ (transfer), 2♥, 3NT, 4♥. why anyone want to be in slam here? 4♥ might not be available if breaks bad.
  19. I would not open this hand in 1st vul. poor suit 6332. might make it difficult for ops, but could also make it difficult for p. pass looks better
  20. 2019 Hamburg collision from wikipedia On 9 February 2019, the ship struck and heavily damaged a 25-meter-long HADAG ferry boat at Blankenese, near the harbour of Hamburg. Two minutes after the collision, a traffic ban on the Elbe river was issued due to high winds.
  21. [hv=d=e&v=b&b=10&a=1d2d(michaels)3c(non%20forcing)3h(brillant%20or%20crazy)4hp5c5hppdppp]133|100[/hv] this was the final auction. I feel north/south bid very bad - they should be in slam - but the north/south team gained 18 IMPs as in the closed room the final contract was 3♣-5 after misunderstanding. after the board finished in the open room, when 5♥X+2 was recorded, the east/west pair had a discussion about whether east's pass of 5♥ was a 'forcing pass'. I thought north's 3♥ bid clever, but 4♣ seemed better. depends how auction go, south cues ♦ void and north/south can not miss 6♥. 7♥ might be possible? how would you bid this hand now that you have seen the result?
  22. the dark side is ACOL  it must be a islands thing, new zealand, australia, british. does any other country play this system? most winning bridge countries play 5M, and have done before I were born. if they are opening 5M, 15-17Nt then its not ACOL, more similar to SAYC.
  23. I think 1NT horrible but acceptable (available bid only in 2/1). I think 1♠ horrible but NOT acceptable. psyche bid or not, its anti-bridge. you play 4♠ contract on moysian when 3NT better contract.
  24. this is how it continued. what happened next? clue: only two more bids in this auction. [hv=pc=n&s=sakq76hqjt76dcj32&w=s932h98dq4ckq8654&n=sjhak5432dj98763c&e=st854hdakt52cat97&d=e&v=b&b=10&a=1d2d(michaels)3c(no%20forcing)3h4hp5c]399|300[/hv]
