Odd/even What are they?
skorchev replied to Timbitt's topic in Intermediate and Advanced Bridge Discussion
I played Italian(o/e) discarding 2-3 years, when you learn it, it's very easy to know suit preferences of your partner(if he is the discarter), but for the declarer is easy too and for that it isn't played by the strong players. I have 2 regular partners now and with the one I play reverse direct discouraging and with other - reverse count (That doesn't means that I'm in the group of the strong players). :) Stefan -
I wonder :) what is this hand which first is PASS and after bid 4♠(?!). Stefan
-
Small ♣ looks the safest. The other leads are too aggressive I think. I'm 90% sure that ruffing ♦ isn't the once way to got a trump-trick. :) ♥A is jump in the darkness. However I voted for small ♣. Stefan
-
3♥ for me. Should investigate 3NT or 5♣! Stefan
-
But I still can't imagine a hand which can safely bid 2♠ now, couldn't open, and doesn't have a ♥ fit. Eric What about ♠Axxxxx ♥x ♦xxx ♣Axx or ♠AJxxxx ♥x ♦xx ♣QJxx Do you open weak 2s with 2 single Aces or with 6-4? Stefan
-
I will lead ♥10, because I don't think that my suits are perspective and I have only one entry to my hand (♠A). Stefan
-
I'm PASS. I have too much defensive values - ♥Q, ♣KJ, doesn't matter that 1♣ opening is after myself, they are values. And I passed first round so my partner shouldn't expect more than this what I have. I guess he has good trumps and some values in ♥. Stefan

I voted for 2♠. I think 2NT isn't a good bid because you have not a stopper ♠. 2♦ , what is it, Fit-Non-Jump? However 2♠ sounds good. Stefan
-
2S surely isn't forcing, NS don't play negative doubles!!! And about the FNJ, you play with this partner for first time, and the risk is too high. Stefan
-
You are North and your hand is S A109xx H Kxxx D 109x C K The bidding is W N E S -- P 1D* 1H 2D ? 1D* - precision club (11-15 hcp, 1+ card) 1H - 8-15 hcp, 5+ cards 2D - natural, NF Dealer: North Vul: EW Scoring: IMPs You play team match in live, IMP scoring. The system is 2/1. Stefan

I absolutely agree with Rain, ads are ok, but no pop ups or flashing. Stefan

Hi lipi, I also think that the idea is good, but it should be for tourneys which start in 10-15 minutes, not for every tourney which is created. And should be announced only non-paid tourneys, because the players who play paid tourneys know their shedule and register there promptly. Stefan

I think there are 2 variants: 1. Log all chat 2. Don't log the chat Any other variants are ... hum I don't know what is the word. I personally voted for Log all chat, but I think you should start any testing periond of 1 month for example (let's users feel what is that logging) and then ask again, and if they like it go ahead if no - put it out. Stefan

Hum, 1NT or 2♠, but I like the italian scores so 2♠ :). If my partner contunue with 2NT I will bid 3♣ (If 2NT and 3♣ are standard bids - 2NT - invitational, 3♣ - values). If my partner continue with 3♣ or 3♠ I will go to 4♠. And if my partner bid 3♦ I will close to 3NT. Stefan

Pseudoclub/message list for TDs.
skorchev replied to jtfanclub's topic in BBO Tournament Directors Forum
Hi jtfanclub, I think it's a GREAT thought, I have this problem almost every night. I know only 10-12 TDs, every night there are around 5-6, and I should ask the same TDs everyday and I guess now almost all of them put me in their enemy-lists. :) I got everynight between 80 and 120 tables and I need at least 2-3 co-TDs. 2-3 TDs looks a small number for most of you, but when you have the "co-TDs problem" everyday 2-3 is a BIG number. :) So I absolutely agree the idea for Pseudoclub of available TDs! Stefan -
The problem isn't when you have 2-3 cards to the finish, then we can adjust the real result. The problem is when the board is never started and both sides got "A--" and the one say "Our opps played slow, no A-" then if this Time Counter is available we can check and adjust to "A+-". Stefan
-
Hi Lukasz, I agree with you. When you direct one normal 12-board tourney there are at least 2 calls for adjustment because of slow play. I don't know how difficult to do will be this function, but it will be very good for the TDs. Stefan

Hi, let me tell you what we play in Bulgaria, we have 3 models of jumpshifts after major opening. 1M-3m, 1♠-3♥ and 1♥-2♠: 1. Suit+fit - it makes with an invitational hand with 4+ GOOD cards in the suit and fit. The shape is like ♠QJx♥xx♦AK10x♣xxxx - if your partner open 1♠ you simple raise to 3♦. 2. Minisplinters - it makes with an invitational hand with singleton or void in the suit and fit. The shape is like ♠AJxx♥KQ10x♦x♣xxxx - if your partner open 1♠ you simple raise 3♦. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.1. 1M-3♣ - it makes with GF or better hand, fit and any singleton/void. 3.2. 1M-3♦ - it makes with fit and a good hand, but not so good to bid 2NT(limit raise to 3M). The shape is like ♠10xxx♥xx♦KJ10x♣Axx I hope that these methods will help to somebody! :) Stefan

I don't know which variant is the best or which is the most played, but I was taught to play variant 1) with 3-3 - 1♣, with 4-4 and 5-5 - 1♦, and to open the larger minor (and I still play this variant). But with 4 cards in ♦ and 5 cards in ♣ with 12-15 and better ♦s than ♣s with shape like ♠QJx♥x♦AQJx♣QJxxx I prefer to open 1♦ because if I open 1♣ I have not good rebid, 1♣-2♦ will means reverse by my system. And when I open 1♦ with this shape I easy can rebid 2♣. However I play the 1st variant. Stefan

I don't know who cares and who doesn't cares but there are many many players who don't know what these symbols mean. That's why I asked for any way to popularize them. Stefan
-
I will bid 3NT but if someone double me I will go to 4♦ (I don't want to give the "score of the year" if my partner have no stopper in ♣). :o Stefan
-
I will bid 2NT or 3NT, everything depend of the 1♦ range, if it's 11+ the right bid is 2NT, if it's 13+ the right bid is 3NT, if it's 12+ then I bid 3NT because I'm young and stupid and want to get the TOP. :) However I voted for 3NT. :o Stefan
-
I'm sure that less than 1% of BBO members read the readme.txt file, i didn't read them too :o ... they should be popularized too. :) Stefan
-
I don't know is this discussion the right place for this topic, but... PLEASE try to find how to popularize A K Q J 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 symbols from the paid tourneys, because for the first day I was asked 3 times what these symbols mean and how someone can get these symbols. Stefan
