  3. This is the wrong link - can you post the right one for confirmation?
  4. Actually, good point. Since we've only had two voters, let me tweak things a little.. Have updated the poll - couldn't seem to get rid of the 2 current voters, so treat sfi + 1eyedjack's votes as incorrect unless they change their choice.
  5. (Continuing discussion from http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/76523-switching-sides-to-declare-in-robot-games/page__gopid__920168#entry920168 ).
  6. The large majority of the times I play from North, I end up assuming North is the dummy part way through the hand and find it very impressive when the robots seem to know what I'm holding. So I'd definitely be for a change. If there hasn't been a poll, let's do one..
  7. [hv=http://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?nn=Robot&n=SA83HTDK875CKQ753&d=n&v=o&b=1&a=P]200|300[/hv] I know a 1♣ opener can have rebid issues, and some people open 1♦, but I was surprised to see GIB pass. Future bid descriptions all promised <= 11 HCP.

  9. You'll be challenging each opponent twice, playing 32 boards against each (64 overall total). Make sure you select MP and non-best-hand. Ideally befriend your opponent when challenge/accepting the first one; that one, once the first challenge is complete, you can challenge and play the second one quicker.

  11. Lycier, the bug is GIB's pass over 3♥. Those other hands have NOTHING TO DO with this bug. If you want to post about other hands, please do so in another thread. I would appreciate it if you remove your post; all the unnecessary hand diagrams you post slow down the loading of the page considerably.
  12. They already did something (as of a few weeks back). If you try to claim 0 tricks, the claim button is greyed out (unless you check a confirmation checkbox), so you never accidentally concede all tricks. Perhaps you're still using the old version somehow - try clearing your browser cache or similar.

  14. It gets worse. I just set up a practice table to confirm after it happened in a normal table, with GIB north opening 1NT. The responses (consistent, not like a rare server glitch): 2♣ - empty description 2♦/2♥ - 5+♥/5+♠ (no 'jacoby transfer' wording like previously) 4♣ - empty description (though GIB treats it as Gerber) and so on. Something is seriously messed up.
  15. Nothing strictly wrong there - 4♦ shows the solid diamonds, so it treats 4NT as blackwood in diamonds, and the 5♠ description is just a continuation.
  16. Starting quite recently, almost every single one of my 4NT Blackwood bids aren't being described as Blackwood (yet GIB still treats them as Blackwood). Sometimes this applies to the response too. In all of these, the 4NT description doesn't mention Blackwood: [hv=http://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?sn=smerriman&s=SAK832HAQJ9DAK6C8&wn=Robot&w=S5H75DQJ843CKQJ63&nn=Robot&n=SQJ764HK8D97CT542&en=Robot&e=ST9HT6432DT52CA97&d=w&v=o&b=8&a=PPP1S(Major%20suit%20opening%20--%205+%20%21S%3B%2011-21%20HCP%3B%2012-22%20total%20points)2N!(Unusual%20notrump%20overcall%20--%205+%20%21C%3B%205+%20%21D%3B%2011-%20HCP%3B%2012%20total%20points%3B%20forcing)4S(Preemptive%20raise%20--%204+%20%21S%3B%209-%20HCP%3B%206+%20total%20points)P4N(5+%20%21S%3B%2021%20HCP%3B%2022%20total%20points)P5C(Zero%20or%20three%20key%20cards%20--%204+%20%21S%3B%209-%20HCP%3B%206+%20total%20points)P6S(5+%20%21S%3B%2021%20HCP%3B%2022%20total%20points)PPP&p=CKC2CAC8D2DAD3D7&c=12]400|300[/hv] Example 2 Example 3 Example 4 In these, responses to Blackwood don't mention the number of keycards: [hv=http://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?sn=smerriman&s=S2HQ2DAJ943CAKT42&wn=Robot&w=SJT7543HT765DTCJ9&nn=Robot&n=SK9HAJ8DKQ652C753&en=Robot&e=SAQ86HK943D87CQ86&d=n&v=o&b=1&a=1D(Minor%20suit%20opening%20--%203+%20%21D%3B%2011-21%20HCP%3B%2012-22%20total%20points)D(Takeout%20double%20--%203-5%20%21C%3B%202-%20%21D%3B%203-4%20%21H%3B%203-4%20%21S%3B%2012+%20total%20points)2N(5+%20%21D%3B%203-%20%21H%3B%203-%20%21S%3B%2011+%20total%20points)P3H(3+%20%21D%3B%2021-%20HCP%3B%2014-22%20total%20points%3B%20partial%20stop%20in%20%21H)P4C(5+%20%21D%3B%203-%20%21H%3B%201-3%20%21S%3B%20%21CA%3B%20no%20%21SA%3B%2017+%20total%20points%3B%20forcing%20to%204H)P4N(Blackwood%20%5BD%5D%20--%203+%20%21D%3B%2021-%20HCP%3B%2015-22%20total%20points%3B%20partial%20stop%20in%20%21H)P5H(5+%20%21D%3B%203-%20%21H%3B%201-3%20%21S%3B%20%21CA%3B%20no%20%21SA%3B%2017+%20total%20points)P6D(3+%20%21D%3B%2021-%20HCP%3B%2015-22%20total%20points%3B%20partial%20stop%20in%20%21H)PPP&p=D8DADTD2D3S5DQD7C3C8CTCJS3SKSAS2H3H2HTHJ&c=11]400|300[/hv] Example 2 This never used to happen. EDIT - the descriptions for new minor forcing and fourth suit forcing have also disappeared entirely, and are no longer alerted. Looks like someone introduced a major bug :)
  17. It seems play-related reports never get answered, so I'm not sure if it makes a difference :( If the developers were ever going to look into play problems, I think http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/76115-ducks-with-akj-when-playing-after-the-q/page__p__913710__fromsearch__1#entry913710 would be the most clearcut place to start. I would so love to be able to see GIB's code - while it may be incomprehensible to most, any code is debuggable when you have a test case.

  19. http://i.imgur.com/poa6ZN3.png I often spot patterns in contracts in an arena challenge, but it never went this far before (and this wasn't contrived at all). Made 12 tricks in 5 of them too.
  20. Are you sure it was 1M? I've never seen GIB pass in that situation, but 1♦ - 2♣ - 3♣ is a common situation where GIB passes despite the alert saying forcing to game. Just tested and it still exists, so wasn't fixed in the last update.
  21. Off-topic I know (sorry, this is best continued elsewhere to avoid cluttering up this thread), but GIB definitely doesn't follow the rules as described in the notes. See eg http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/74702-defending-with-gib/ . It would be nice if they were updated to what GIB actually does do.
  22. My stab - if we play a trump, East will probably win, return a singleton spade, and get a spade ruff. So that just leaves playing a spade and hoping West doesn't win and return a second one. As for which one.. leading 2 to the K doesn't help as we'd still have 2 spade losers if it wins. Leading 2 to the 8, running the 9 or 10, or leading the Q all work if West has AJxxx (and doesn't play Ace and another). Playing the Q has the added bonus over the rest that if West wins, East may drop a singleton Jack.. but then West would probably know to give a ruff. So I can't really see any difference between the options. More advanced players can enlighten me :)
  23. As manudude03 implied, GIB defines the game try as having a queen or better. So using it on xxx will never work well.
