Hello AdOut; As the previous 2 directors mentioned, there is very little time to inform sub, as to who their partners will be... i know of many TDs, who look at sub list and try to put a workable partnership together i.e. sub a polish system player with a pd who plays the same system, or at least same level.. it is not always possible though... as Gweny said, once you have agreed to substitute for a tourney, you have to accept the random partner... when we need subs, we are desperate, and thats why they are so valuable, otherwise the tourney would either slow down, or stop all together... if you have had too many bad experiences, I suggest you dont volunteer, until a better solution comes up :lol:) Thanks for your help anyhoooooo :( aisha

Both Ece and Steve have worked very hard on BBO, each in their own way.... They are very dear friends of mine, and I am very sad to see them go... All their friends are still pulling together to try to persuade them against it; alas, our help is not enough.. Hopefully we can be successful in making it worth their while to stay on.. Aisha

I need help pls :P Can you all rewrite the above posts in layman terms (now i know slothy will find a way to use his "esprit d'escalier").... I didn't understand a word of what you all said.. i thought remotekeys was to be able to add certain "foreign" letters which are not available on ones keyboard i.e french/ turkish... i found some of the letters, but not all are available; dilly dallied a bit to figure it out, but lost patience; my computer litteracy is close to nil, especially when it comes to all that vocabulary... Ececim: very good point..... why didnt i think of that!!! WE all know what to expect when "expert only" is written or "french speaking only" etc..... this way, a player knows that he/she may rejected, and not get offended! Right on!♥

Hi Stevie :lol: Thought more than twice before posting this.. (not trying to be an expert poster by any means) You have come up with another brilliant idea! I wish i were a junior, is 29 ok? On a more serious note, I wish you, Ececim, and Marc the best of luck; you have made a good team; Marc (spwdo) is very enthousiastic about this... good choice!! Maybe one day, you can start a club for serious bridge players like me , who want to improve, but youth ain't on their side (meaning over 30 at least ) ;) Topfllight friends is one of them (but still not a club.... per se) You have a lot of expert support, and to add to it, your friends support you also... Hi; Making table invisible doesnt really solve the problem; as you mentioned JRG it is unsociable for one; besides that, friends who see you idle in lobby, can't see you are playing, therefore start sending a lot of private messages, whereby you have to explain that table is invisible... knowing a friend is busy playing, one wouldn't carry on a long private conversation.. It doesn't bother me at all when rejected from a table, there is usually a valid reason; i doubt table host has the time to read all profiles and be that choosy... I personally either save a seat and mark it xx, if waiting for someone, or allow players to sit without asking... im not really into this rejecting stuff... if they happen to sit, and table is about to break up, i just tell them so... I don't believe it should be taken personally at all...... :)

Thanks Gweny♥ Problem is..... i forgot what my wishes were, and now that i read all the other wishes, many of them were what i was hoping for ..... another one has been solved.... hear!! hear!!! to all the wishes! :) Ahh! remembered one!! Anyway to show that one is directing, so one doesnt get so many private messages from friends who think you are kibbing, or sitting idle in lobby... it gets quite distracting... especially when you're busy doing something and suddenly you get a pop up from someone inviting you to play in a turney... there could be something when you hover mouse over name maybe where it says where the player is it could say (aisha759 directing for example) dont think thats possible, but definitely there must be something that can be done....we thought of having a different colour, (maybe only when directing) who has some bright ideas? change nick maybe like TD_Gweny, again only while directing, which means that new nick should have access to table... there could be a simple solution out there, unless of course its really not that much of a problem for other TDs... Talk about rejection!!! Beginner/int lounge rejected me, actually threw me out after they accepted me, and found out i belonged to abalucy :) I guess that makes me an expert! Can't play in topflight, im not a star!!! Cant play in stars, yellows, and good players (none of the above).... Cant play in juniors, missed the boat!!! Where does someone like me go? i was thinking of starting my own rejcts club!!! On top of that, tables rejct me too, hopeless case here :( What to do????? SOS!! Truly desperate, Aisha

Oh, i know that rejection feeling! Most of the time one is refused from sitting at a table (not turney) is because they may be waiting for a particular player....but i do agree that it would be nice to know why one was refused to sit.... just like when a player suddenly leaves the table, a prompt tells other players very politely, that he/she has left because he/she has been vacuumed to a turney; otherwise if i were the player left behind, i might get paranoid, and take it as an insult, since players sucked into tournaments dont have a chance to say good bye and ty first (well they could announce at the beginning that they are registered)... as a sub though, one never knows, so that prompt is very useful...so along the same lines, maybe a few polite excuses to choose from as to why you have been rejected from a table.... Most table lately have a lock on them, and have restrictions which are not specified in the explanation box on the far right of table.... as in " french speaking only", " no privates" "experts only"....those can all be defined, but what about other reasons? soo what are diplomatic reasons for being rejected?? (without making feel player unwanted) 1- waiting for crashee 2- waiting for opp 3- dont like your nick( not nice) 4- dont like your profile ( terrible) there may be more, can't think of any though ;) Paranoid Aisha♥

Hi Ben; I wouldnt join paid tourneys either, especially that there are so many free ones, and with all that cheating you all are talking about, it sort of takes the fun out of it (unless of course i decide to take up cheating and get my money's worth :o)) For paid tourneys to be successful, they would have to have a certain benefit... now dont get me wrong; there is a lot of pleasure in doing well in a free tourney, and i don't necessarily mean winning; but a paid tourney, well.....thats a bit more serious, so maybe winning a Tshirt might make me wanna cheat....watch out!!! Especially if it has my name on it :P A tourney i have to pay for, should have some benefits, other than just a "bit of winning satisfaction".... IMHO ;) Yours truly Aisha

You can do all sorts of blocking on BBO (which would be extremely disappointing) then there is no more fun in kibbing.... i think OKbridge has solved that problem (up to a point) they have defined the difference between a kibber and a specatator... a spec can see all hands, therefore cannot talk to anyone , where as a kibber only sees dummy like everyone else.... (the terminology is a bit different, and i can't quite remember it) that still doesnt stop specs from using messenger or some other form of communication.... I enjoy kibbing, and seing all hands (learning experience) So please don't do anything to change that ;) It seems to me, that you can stop some from cheating, but you will always get new cheaters! If cheating is most rampant in the bidding, then blocking kibbers wont help...... 70% of good a good contract is in correct bidding ( so i'm told he he ) Dont know where i'm getting at with this actually, but maybe one day, someone will come up with a brilliant idea to make it more difficult to cheat, but stopping it completely, seems like an impossible task.
