  1. Hi all, 1) In my partnership 4♥ denies good trump quality (we open 4♦ with at least 2 of the top honors) so I will bid 4♥ hoping not to loose more than 3 trump tricks !! :D 2) You have 15 HCP and partner has at least 15 HCP (if not psychic !!). So opener has opened light probably with 6 spades and ♣ honors because he did not open a weak 2♠. The only thing to be sure is that there aren't 2 ♣ losers. I would therefore bid 4♦ (forcing after cue bid). If I hear 4♥ by partner I would bid 4♠ showing a slam try with no ♣ control. Alain
  2. Hi Ben, Interesting :D What do you show with 1NT - 2♠ ? Alain
  3. Hi all, I think that Zar points are only interesting when you have a fit. ;) So, the problem is that if you open a 10 HCP hand and you have no fit, the contract will be NT and you won't have enough HCP weight to bring it home !!! Don't you think so, my friends ? :) Alain
  4. Hi Ben, Not sure of a ♦ fit as my partner can only have 3♦. I would rdbl and if partner doesn't dbl them in major I will be sure that he has 4♦ ! If partner dbl I think I would pass with ♥A and ♣AQ which are very good defensive tricks Alain
  5. :) And what do you rebid with 16-18 and 4♥ support ?
  6. It can effectively be an important card :D :D :D
  7. Hi all :) I don't want to comment 1C (1H) X = 4+S, 1S = no 4S 1D (1H) X = S, 1S = no 4S because in those cases I play Dbl with 4♠ and 1♠ with 5♠ but, don't you think that with 1C (1D) 1H = 4+S, 1S = 4+H you give a supplementary chance to your LHO to dbl your 1♥ bid to show ♥ at an economic level ? :D
  8. I totally agree with you Ben :D when you say it is an awful game but it comes from the fact that the west hand is only a 2♠ bid (no ace, 3♠, flat and +/- wasted QJ and J !!) So if a lot of tables were too high, it's because of a bad treatment of the west hand imo Alain
  9. I close my eyes and go for 3NT :D
  10. :D Simply swap ♠K and ♥A in the NS hands and there are 4♠ so I don't think it's a nonsense to play 4♠ with these hands !! B)
  11. Totally agree with Free and I would pass :)
  12. :) I also have a very little problem to find this site :P
  13. Sorry, I misread the vulnerability !! As I have only 1 trick (probably a ♦ void for the 6♣ bid) I would pass and let decision to partner. If he has nothing he would probably bid 6♦. Alain
  14. Hi Misho, Well, it seems (I hope :D ) that opps preempt so I will consider that our side has the contract. As I have already done my job with the overcall, the only thing that remains to tell to partner is that I have only one ♣, so, I would pass (forcing) but I really don't know if it is the right action  Alain
  15. Hi Ben ! A TO dbl is generally not game forcing off course but here you play a strong ♣ system (I do not play it usually!!) and I suppose that the dbl guarantees some positive with 8 HCP or a little bit more (he passed), so when you have 17 it FG so no problem to bid 3♥ :) Alain
  16. I don't think that you need extra(s) to bid 3♥ because after your partner's dbl, you are FG. The only question that remains (especially at imps) is : what game do we play ? :)
  17. I'd bid 3♥ (not 4 cards in ♠ and no stop in ♥) and wait for clarification by partner Alain
  18. I would also bid 2♦! 2♦ can come from a 3 cards suit because it's the cheapest bid if you have only 2♣ (the same as the response of 1♠ on 1♥-dbl-p-?) Alain
  19. It is quite clear that they probably have a better contract (game ? because p short in ♠ does not have many HCP and opener can have a very good hand) in another suit and I would avoid to push them there so I would also pass. I fully agree with you Mike
  20. Clear that the Dbl is not the most marvellous one. But, what would you bid with east hand if it goes 1♠-P-P-? ??
  21. Hi Misho, Ben and others... I had a look at your META overcall structure and it is a very interesting concept but what I don't like in these kind of methods in that you never know the exact minimum number of cards in suits so that it's therefore difficult to take decisions (not playing in your best fit, preempt related to the law of total tricks....). That's also the reason why I don't like to play DONT on opps NT openings. Tx a lot anyway for your explanations ! :D Alain
  22. :) Well, tx a lot for your kind consideration Ben ! Bridge is a very difficult game (I can be brilliant but also very bad :( ) and that's why we like it so much. But, may I ask a question, more particularly to you and Misho : Could you give me an overview of what you call "Meta overcalls" ? Tx in advance, Alain
