amazing i post an amusing bot bid and i get a free lesson. at least dougie hasnt sent me a bill yet. course he completely missed the point but thats ok. i need all the help i can get.

im going to try and remember that. should i have opened 1s then? i actually like the light 2c on hands where i think i can prob make 4 opposite most dummies. but i hate the 6n bid. as i recall im good for 6s, 6h or 6d. btw john. the bot led from 7 clubs to the queen and out. his bot partner had aj10x. tom

of course the east bot led a club and i lost the first 7 tricks for down 6 vul. amazing bidding and such fun to randomly select which aces and kings you can pitch. this from the nabc acbl tourney. btw. not a bottom by any means. . i dont disagree with a simple wei system. in fact my fav system is a simple polish club which i believe solves so many problems for the average player. my problem is a selective memory. sometimes i can see a pretty good squeeze thru to the end b ut other times i forget whole tricks. just age i guess as im glad to wake up in the morning. oh well.

what i really dont understand is why we have such a complicated bidding system. but i admit my knowledge of bots (except for playing) is not very wide. larry cohen has recommended a simple 2/1 and i agree with him. that is what i try to play when i play with a human. otoh maybe playiing puppet after 2nt (and after 1nt for me) is not so simple. in a recent topic it was poiinted out that a 4c bid after a soloway jump shift and a h response was showing support for hearts instead of patterning out the hand. this on the 4 level. there are many many other examples that are similar. perhaps someone can explain it to me im simple terms. thanx

usual alerts for 1d, then 2s. the 3h bid by my bot partner alerts as 4+ hearts (only thing showing) , then 1 bid 4h alerted as 4+h, 4+ spades, 5+ diamonds and 2 clubs. you may notice this is 15 cards. now you can prob see my question. why ith doesnt the north bot bid 4s after 2s?? wtf is 3h? did i do something to confuse it? i know im confused. im sure someone would have known what to do but i didnt.[hv=pc=n&s=sakq8ha98dak987c8&n=st76543hk65dt4cj5&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=pp1d2cpp2s3cppdp3hp4hppp]266|200[/hv]

. i play a lot of bot tournaments. but it seems they are getting worse instead of better. bidding is off the charts bad. today i paid to play a couple of acbl tournaments. folks, it is NOT worth any money to get that king of crap bidding. doesnt matter how well you play.

yes sorry about that. i meant 3s. and yes 2n was correctly alerted as minors. i hovered. over the 3s and as pointed out it just said 16 pts. and of course you are right. it is a glitch of some sort. pity things like this seem to show up right before the nabc. i really like the bot tournaments and challenges. i just wish we had a very simple (like larry cohen suggests) 2/1. i wish 3c over 2n was puppet like everyone plays. but ill keep playing i guess

(now the alert says i have 25 pts) and the bot bids 4nt we wound up in 6 diamonds.

. for what its worth, stephen is correct. 1nt is the ONLY bid that makes sense on that hand.

have to admit i did not consider bot showing a new suit. then when i saw the hearts i thought the bot was mistakenly transferring. thanx forthe answers and NO i do not know how to post the links to the hands. sorry thanx for the answers one final question why not use a KISS 2/1 . i admit ive learned a lot about a system i dont like (2/1) and that was one reason i play the bots a lot. but a lot of the bids i will never use. im just too old to remember them. i dont think they are usually necessary anyhow. thanx tom

" new suit 5+ constructive 10+ pts i think he must have some spades anyhow. u see the result. a couple of days before i had this[hv=pc=n&s=saqj87hkq7d76caq6&n=s43ht86dqjt54c875&d=w&v=n&b=12&a=1dp1hdr1sp2sp4sppp]266|200[/hv] now i know the 1s by bot may be on 3 but the alert said " 4 s, 6-8 pts". so i bid only 2s. why would he bid 4??? otoh i have bid to a couple a nice grand slams even bidding into the 6 level to find out more. very nice bidding

. i play the robot tourneys a lot. and no i dont want to post any hands, but the advanced robots are the worst bidders ive ever seen. just pitiful good luck everyone

i watch a lot of vugraph. i really like to see photos and bio imfo on the players. but more than that i would like to see the cc each pair is playing. i know some of the commentators try to explain but i really would rather just see the cc if possible. some comment way way way too much and i wind up blacking them out. just something to consider thoma

my known distaste for 2/1 causes me to be really ignorant about many bids. i can see 4th suit working here but what about 4c over 3n? is that not a slam try. partner will usually have clubs for his 3n bid. also what about the sequence. 1H. - 1S. what is a forcing bid then? seems like i have seen 2c used as forcing to game . any suggestions? thanx btw. ill take this slam every day of the week and make it on most.
